ON THE RUNNING GROUND
The training of the future soldiers begin as the cadets runs for the laps through the running ground. Since it was the first day, they are doing pretty basic stamina training. Although it's said to be basic, It is foreseeable on the face of the research corp. Cadets, that it is not basic.
Hugo (Running, breathing heavily) - Basic training? My ass…
Trainer (yelled) - Run cadet, you have taken too much time and it's just half the way.
Hugo - this is too difficult…
Mark took hugo’s hand and pulls him to run fast.
Mark (Annoyingly) - Hey! Hugo! Run faster, or you gonna be kicked out of the training,
Hugo - You're running too fast.
Mark - Yeah! Because (As he speeds up) you are not.
They both run faster but in a controlled way, as Mark dont want Hugo to fall.
Trainer - Good job Cadets, if you run this way, you have the chance to cross the finish line first.
Mark - You heard Hugo? We can do this.
Hugo (breathing heavily) - I can't run anymore, just leave me here.
Mark - Drama again ha? Don't you dare to cry or I will kick your ass so hard that you will be standing your whole life.
Hugo - I wanna die.
Mark (Looking at the lap counter) - Hey! There it is, the finish line.
As they were about to complete their last lap, there was another Cadet approaching faster from behind. Mark looks at the cadet crossing the line first.
Trainer to that soldier - what is your name Cadet?
Cadet - LIAM THEODORE sir…
Trainer - you'll be rewarded, CADETS OTHER THAN HIM WILL HAVE TO DO 50 PUSHUPS NOW.
Liam - Sir, I wanted to do those pushups as well, it's better if I constantly work to make my body strong.
Trainer (to others) - LOOK AT THE BOYS SPIRIT, ALL OF YOU CADETS SHOULD HAVE IT AS WELL, after the pushup you will be having your equipment class.
Hugo exhausted from pushes sits beside Mark on a bench, Mark looks at him and gives him a bottle of energy drink.
Hugo - Hey! Mark, I'm sorry that you lost to that guy today.
Hugo Drinks the energy drink as he looks at Liam approaching.
Mark - Yeah! it's you, whose fault is here, damn you insect, so slow to move. Anyways, it doesn’t matter. I’ll crush him.
Hugo - You should speak low, You see him coming. Ain’t you?
Liam - You are Mark, right?
Mark - Yeah.
Liam - I heard of your scores on the entrance, and I have to say I was impressed, you really have a perfect physique and IQ. just a lil more practice and you cut to be a soldier.
Mark - so what? you are the topper of that test, it's not like I can beat you now.
Liam - well no one knows……….and what's your name.
Hugo - me? hugo.
Liam - Hugo, ha, I don't see your record yet.
Hugo - I am from the research corp.
Liam - Oh!
Mark - More like the rat hole corp.
Liam - Oh! …… Hey! it's time for the equipment class we should be going…..
Hugo gets up and raises his hands toward Mark.
Hugo - C'mon. I won't disappoint you this time.
Mark pushes Hugo outta of the way as he gets up on his own
Mark (Annoyingly) - Whatever!!! Rat.
Hugo Looks at Mark moving forward.
Liam (Ask) - You know, If he is troubling you, I can give you a hand.
Hugo - It's alright. We are training to be soldiers, anything besides really shouldn't matter
Hugo moves to the class.
Equipment Class
Ben - Hugo! Are you Alright?
Hugo - Yeah! I have plenty of juices running through my veins giving me proper energy.
Mark - You are a dumbass Hugo, you know nothing about physical training.
Hugo - Guess I am. At least I know more than you about other things.
Mark (smirks) - Seems like the child got some guts.
Hugo (hesitant) - Yeah!!! don't you see my grades in schools. They were always better than you.
Mark - So you are saying you are better than me?
Hugo - Yes! of course.
Liam (Interrupts) - Whats you guys talking about?
Mark to Hugo (Ignoring Liam) - Remember the time when I and Darius told you that our dad fucked ours mom so we got born and you said your dad didn’t fucked your mom. You never told us from where you came from.
Liam - hahahhahahahahah………..that's a pretty funny moment you shared. So you guys are childhood friends I guess.
Arthur - Who is Darius?
Hugo (In a low voice) - A friend of ours.
Mark - A knucklehead, Greedy daydreaming bastard.
Arthur - That's one hell of a description.
Hugo (Smiles) - Yeah! He was pretty much like that, but that's good in some ways.
Hugo and Mark start thinking of Darius and Claire.
Liam - Hey!!! That's enough mourning. BTW I have a question to ask, are you Hugo willson?
Hugo - Wait, now you know about me?
Liam - Everybody knows you, the son of that brave soul who put his life on the line in order to make others safe. General Willson's name was engraved on the Memorial stone. Your father is a hero here…… Now, If you excuse me, I’ve some friends of mine as well so I'll be going to sit with them.
Hugo looks at Liam and hears his chit chat with his friend saying “where were you” , “in the toilet”. Sarah enters with DrKarl in the class.
Mark (surprised) - Hey! That's Sarah, Isn't she?
Hugo - Sure looks like her.
Mark - When did she join the working of defense?
Hugo - Why ask me, ask Darius.
Sarah - Listen up Cadets, as you know our world has suffered a great damage and as you guys are going to be on the line of defense, there are crucial lessons you must learn. So firstly, I wanna tell you about our world. These documents, authorized by the Dome government, will be made public in 2 to 3 days. Lets begin with the situation of our world.
Sarah shows a picture on the big screen.
Sarah - This is our world now. It is divided into halves by this ring of light we call the SPLIT. We still don’t know what its nature is, but we are sure of one thing, that this doesn’t let us go beyond itself. This is a geographical mapping of the current world scenario. The world is splitted into two halves, the one half is on which we are living which is on the left, and the other half is what is absorbed by the barrier, the right side which is completely inaccessible, which means everything along with the peoples and resources on that land is completely out of hands. So, it's clear that moving to that territory is not possible, as the barrier does not let pass anything beyond the line, not even the ocean water, Therefore, it's suggested that its better to forget about that land, for now atleast, And focus on the other problem we have. Which Are the Headhunters.
Cadet (Raising hand) - So, you’re saying that our enemy is a species of humanoid beasts on steroids?
Sarah - Precisely, therefore, It is possible to kill them by human arms. Making their complete termination possible, However we do need one thing apart from this benefit, In order to succeed, and that is the physical capabilities. The capability to operate our machinery at that level to eliminate them, which through biological means could take hundreds of years of evolution. However, Thanks to the evolution of science, the idea of human-like exoskeletons comes into the picture.
Change the slide.
This is the exoskeleton prototype that the military of Geruna was building for the war. This exoskeleton gives humans a boost in physical capabilities, and as we are now working on it together, we can make it capable enough to fight those monsters. Right now this exoskeleton is in its initial phase and will take an estimated 6 months for the completion of prototypes and practice models. By that time, you people should prepare your body to train with these exoskeleton practice models.Since, these battle skeletons are not very cost and resource effective, the council doesn't want to put it on the field in a hurry. It is decided that it should only be put on the battlefield when completed and the soldiers get ready to use it to its full capacity. After 3 years from today, when you'll graduate as lieutenants, you will become a member of the first company, who will use the EXOZ on the front line. Till that day you will learn each and every aspect of these suits to use at its highest efficiency.
Karl - You are the people we need the most in order to take back what is lost. We have high hopes from you all. All the best for your next 3 years.
Hugo (Thoughts) - As the time flows, the Cadets undergo rigorous training in order to attain the required potential to pilot an exo-suit. Hardcore challenges were thrown to us one after another and after 6 months of training, out of 6000 Cadets, 5000 dropped out in which some were disqualified on their behavior and others were disqualified due to their incapability to cope up to be a soldier. Only a 1000 Cadets were fit to be a soldier. But we all know that the race to become a soldier was just the warmup. The real thing will start now.
