The Okitwawa Camp

Chapter Three: An Unexpected Meeting

Chapter Three: An Unexpected Meeting

Sep 28, 2024

Tuesday July 14, 2020

I'm levitating on clouds of cotton candy, unicorns standing beside me. Barefoot in the sky, the odor of sugar invades me. It's paradise.A unicorn with silver eyes shining like a million stars, her gaze an infinite softness, sits next to me, with great radiance. It raises its silk clog towards my shoulder, speaking in an enchanting voice "Come on, the Owls! It's time to wake up now!"

Wait, no. That's not real, I'm at the camp, damn! I made myself fake hopes..

- Al-Already? But it's six in the morning! I protest in a muffled voice, my face buried in the pillow.

- It's like that, at Okitwawa Camp...shrugs Olivia in a perky voice, stretching her legs in her penguin pajama.

I sigh as I hide myself in my sleeping bag, choosing my clothes for the day. My choice stops on a striped long-sleeves-shirt, along with a pair of joggings. Already changed, I pull myself out of my bed and prepare myself for the day. The group walks to the cafeteria. The breakfast is pancakes! I took the classic, with maple syrup, as Olivia took Nutella.

- C'mon, you have to try, I'm telling you it's delicious! My friend assures me, taking another bite.

Olivia untied her long brown hair, releasing it on her shoulders. She attached heart-shaped hair clips, as her eyes are joyful, as always. She's wearing a cotton candy pink tee-shirt, with her usual pearl necklace. A stain of Nutella covers her right cheek.

- No, Nutella is reserved for toasts...I reply, judging her curiously.

My new friend doesn't comment anything. She shifts to a girl of an average height, who's grinning at her intently, watching her silently.

- Did you forget we were friends, Olivia? The new girl questions.

She gives me a cruel smile, before turning back to Olivia, a bright smile creeping up her lips. Whoever she is, that girl is faking her act, obviously. She reminds me of someone, yet I don't remember that person quite yet.

- Audrey? That's you? Yay, you're at camp! I knew we would meet up again sometimes!

A girl- Audrey, visibly- came here to steal my friend. Audrey...Audrey! I freeze in place as I stare at Olivia, who's hugging Audrey, as I see a smirk on my ex friend's face.

- We'll see each other again, Cassandra...She whispers in my ear.
