"What? What?" I denied, lying. I didn't have a choice.
"Look here, Mark. Your lip balm mark," she pointed out, touching the spot.
"It's not a big deal, right?"
"Hmm," she didn't say anything and turned to sleep on the bed. I didn't feel much, just looked at her while she slept and remembered those memories.
First-Time Roommates: A Flashback
I got a job, but I couldn't find a room. Some were too expensive, while others weren't available. Eventually, there was a room in a girls' hostel that had already been booked. I did not talk to the girl who had it reserved, and I heard she wanted to live alone. I asked if she could let me know when she was moving out.
The girl with short purple hair looked like a total hottie. I thought I might have a new crush as I kept glancing at the tattoo on her hand. Then she asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm Kaira."
"What?" She turned to look at me, and I felt like I'd seen her before. Yes, she was my best friend from school! Something had happened after college, and I hadn't seen Aadhira for years. When Aadhira saw me, her loving gaze felt like it was wrapping me in a warm embrace, and then she said two words filled with affection. she said, "Fuck off.".
"Please, Aadhira, let me stay. You know how expensive everything is here; my salary isn't enough."
The more lovingly I spoke, the angrier she got. Then, in frustration, I said, "Fine, I won't stay here. I'll live on the street; what do you care? We were friends."
I was about to cry when she said, "Stop the drama and just pay 60%."
"It should be 50%..." (She shot me a glare.) "No, no, I can agree to that."
I moved into her room, and that's how we became roommates. Aadhira had a quirky way of communicating; she would often just stare at me. I thought she might want something more physical. It was a bit creepy, but since she was so hot, I didn't mind.
"Aadhira," I said, reading a book on our first day as roommates, a Sunday.
"Do you want to party?"
"I don't drink."
"So, no party?" She gave me an angry look, and I thought about her blackmailing me. If I didn't go, she might kick me out of the room. I reluctantly got ready for the party, throwing on some jeans and a T-shirt. I didn't have anything special, while she wore a stunning black gown. Her deep neckline could catch anyone's eye. I felt like a tomboy next to her, who looked like a total goddess.
Come on, be confident. I was an introvert who never liked parties. I sat in the corner, just watching Aadhira kiss random guys. Her French kisses looked amazing, and I couldn't help but feel jealous. I really wanted to slap that guy so hard that he would forget Aadhira's lips had ever touched his. My anger boiled over, and I grabbed a drink without realizing it was strong alcohol. Suddenly, I saw four Aadhira. She came over and smelled my glass.
"Woo, you became a tiger!"
"You can't do this..." I trailed off. I really don't remember what happened that night. When I tried to ask Aadhira about it later, she always made excuses, claiming she didn't remember either, even though I clearly recalled she hadn't drunk that day.
Back to the Present. I was staring at Aadhira when she opened her eyes and caught me.
