The Roman Empire In Another World

Prologue: The Eclipse of Last Hope

Prologue: The Eclipse of Last Hope

Sep 29, 2024

In a forgotten corner of the universe, where time and space intertwined in unimaginable ways,

there existed a planet named Lunaris. Under a sky painted with deep blue spots and green

clouds, the sun and moon crossed paths, giving rise to a fascinating eclipse. However, that

magnificent celestial event was nothing more than a foreboding omen for what was about to

happen.

In the heart of the capital, the beauty of the world crumbled under the weight of war. The drums of

conflict echoed in the distance, and a smell of smoke and ash filled the air, while the ground was

strewn with the remnants of a nation that once thrived. The cries of battle mixed with the

desperate wails of survivors, creating an atmosphere of terrifying desolation.

“We're almost there!” exclaimed a wizard, his eyes fervent with determination. His hands,

surrounded by an aura of mystical energy, traced seals in the air.

"Prevent every monster from entering! Summoning a dimensional being is our only hope!"

The wizard's voice rose above the din, but despair reflected in the faces of the soldiers gathered

around him. The church, an ancient stone building, stood as a beacon of hope in a sea of chaos.

Its walls, once adorned with frescoes and decorations, were now blackened by smoke and

pockmarked by blows. The massive, sturdy doors creaked under the growing force of the infernal

creatures surrounding the church. They were deformed beings, twisted figures of darkness,

howling and writhing, ravenous for blood and destruction.

“We must hold on!” shouted the captain of the soldiers, his face marked by fear but also

determination. “Every second we gain is one more second to complete the ritual!” The soldiers

raised their weapons with courage. Their swords gleamed in response to the eclipse, while

magical energy bubbles gathered around the wizards, as if the entire universe were witnessing

that crucial event.

A deafening roar shattered the air, and one of the doors exploded into a thousand wooden

splinters. A dozen soldiers, caught off guard, were overwhelmed by the destructive force. Their

bodies were hurled away like leaves in the wind, and blood flowed onto the sacred ground.

“NO!” screamed the captain, his heart briefly stopping. But there was no time for anguish; the

assault had already begun. From behind the wreckage of the shattered door, the monsters

infiltrated, their gaping maws ready to devour any form of life. The church became a battlefield.

The soldiers, knowing that death was imminent, fought fiercely, slashing at the creatures with their

swords and casting spells that illuminated the darkness.

“We can't stop!” shouted a young soldier, his face streaked with blood and sweat. “We must

protect the wizards!” With a battle cry, he ran toward one of the creatures approaching the

wizards, striking it with his sword. The first blow was not enough to stop it, but the second

decapitated it, the lifeless body collapsing to the floor.

“Good job, keep going!” urged one of the wizards as his spell intensified. The magical light

wrapped around him, pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat. “We're almost there! Don't let these

beings stop us!”

But the waves of enemies seemed unstoppable. Every creature brought down was replaced by

another, and the number of soldiers dwindled inexorably. The screams of pain mingled with the

spells exploding in the air, but there was no way to halt that deluge of horror. A small group of

wizards, however, was reaching the peak of their power. “Now!” ordered the chief wizard, his

hands raised toward the sky. With a decisive movement, he traced a magical circle around himself

and his companions.

“Concentrate your energy! We must open the portal!”The hands of the wizards intertwined, their powers merging into a symphony of light and sound.

The monsters, sensing the threat, focused on them, as if they could feel the change in the

atmosphere. The captain, seeing their furious gazes, stepped forward.

“Fall back!” he shouted. “Protect the wizards!” With every ounce of his being, the captain fought,

slaying monsters that advanced perilously toward the magical circle. Sweat dripped into his eyes,

but he didn't stop, gritting his teeth until they bled. The growing light of the wizards illuminated his

gestures, but the battle seemed lost.

“We have to make it!” exclaimed one wizard, his face drawn with fatigue, as a flash of light sprang

from his hands.

“We're only moments away!”

“We'll never make it!” another replied, his voice breaking with anxiety. “The doors are about to

collapse!”

Just as the wizards intensified their concentration and the door of the church was reduced to

rubble, a roar was heard. A monstrous shadow began to take shape, emerging from the darkness.

It was a gigantic creature, almost tall enough to touch the ceiling beams, with sharp claws and

glaring eyes that shone with terror. The air seemed to freeze around all present.

“NO! Stop!” the captain shouted, but his cry was drowned out by the tumult of battle. With his

heart racing, he charged at the creature, but was seized by a massive paw, lifted off the ground

before being hurled against the walls. He felt the dull thud of his body against the stone. His

breath stopped for a moment, but determination rekindled within him. Despite the pain, he got

back up. He had to keep fighting.

“Open the portal!" shouted the wizard, veins pulsating with magical energy.

“I can't hold on much longer!”

The circle of power began to tremble, swirling with bright and dark colors. The creatures, sensing

the change, charged with renewed ferocity.

“Protect them!” The captain struggled to get closer again, wielding his sword with determination.

“Many of ours are already dead! We must hold on for just a moment longer!” But at that moment

of maximum tension, the giant creature roared, shattering the circle of power with a devastating

blow. The wizards were swept away, and the magical light went out.

The portal closed, and darkness enveloped the church once more. The captain, struck by a wave

of despair, felt emptied. He looked at the fallen wizards, powerless, and felt the pain of loss in

every fiber of his being. But deep within him, a spark of hope continued to burn.

“For our compatriots!” he shouted, rising again, but this time something different shone in his

eyes. It was the fire of determination rekindled.

“Let’s fight! We will never surrender!” The soldiers, feeling the passion in his cry, joined his cause,

taking up their weapons in one wave of courage. They resumed fighting, even as fear weighed on

them like a leaden burden. The battle raged on, and as the sun and moon danced in the sky, a

new glance of light formed in the heart of darkness.

In the midst of war, the survivors understood that true strength lay in their unity. They would never

defeat the monsters alone, but with the power of their determination, they could persevere.

The echo of that united cry of hope spread, resonating in the depths of shadows, announcing that

the fight was not over. And so, as flames engulfed the last refuge of their hope, the soldiers,

united in their intent, continued to fight to protect those who were still alive. But in a moment of terror, from nowhere appeared a dimensional being of immense power, whose

true form revealed itself to be that of a man but with an air of strangeness. His eyes shone with an

ancient and unsettling light, and a palpable energy pulsed around him. With a gesture of his hand,

he shook the foundations of the church. The enemies, the soldiers themselves, were swept into a

whirlwind of energy that danced between hope and despair.

With a catastrophic explosion, he unleashed his force against the kingdom, eradicating every

trace of life in a blinding flash of light and deafening noise, like a nuclear explosion that marked

the end of all resistance. The church collapsed, buried beneath the devastation, as the sky turned

a blazing red.

The soldiers, so full of courage until that moment, were swept away like leaves in the wind, and

the kingdom of Lunaris was reduced to ruins. The echo of the battle cry transformed into an

oppressive silence, as the ashes of an era were scattered in the wind. The last hope had been

extinguished, but in the hearts of those who remained, the memory of that struggle transformed

into legends that could one day rise again. The war, however, was far from over; it was only the

beginning of the end.
