The Okitwawa Camp

Chapter Nineteen: Task Two; The Trash Picking

Chapter Nineteen: Task Two; The Trash Picking

Sep 29, 2024

Thursday July 16, 2020, 9:00 A.M

Lana behind me, I step to the Grizzly tent. "Great!" I complain mentally as I see Cassandra coming closer.

- Well, welcome girls to the second challenge! It will be very similar to the first one, but you'll see and jump on one leg. Don't try to cheat, we'll watch you cautiously. My ex-friend declares.

Lana rolls her eyes and watches around the tent, her gaze stopping on Cassandra. She throw her a death glare, before waiting for the signal.

- Let's go! Cassandra says excitedly

As I reluctantly jump on my right leg, I try to lean and take a plastic bottle. Happily, I grab it, bringing it over to a plastic bag.

I watch Lana from afar, who sorts the trash by categories. Noticing this detail, I begin jumping on my leg again, stepping closer to the plastic bag as I grip it tightly.

Unfortunately, Lana hits me with her right arm as I trip and fall down to the floor, my face buried in a dirty plastic bag.

Ew. I comment as I stand up, determined-more or less-, now knowing we can actually fall. As awful as it is, it's less worse than the first challenge.

Hobbling weakly, I throw the bag from afar, raising both of my hands in the air as a victory symbol. I can seek Cassandra glancing at me with a critical look, her sneer informing me of what she thinks about it.

I stop myself from sending her my middle finger. Instead, I go back to jumping, taking the more trash that I can.

- We're done! My ex-friend exclaims, raising both of her arms in the air helplessly

I sigh in relief, glad that this nightmare will end soon.

- Let's count the points... Eva suggest in my back as I put my left foot to the floor, feeling sore.

For a moment that seems endless, silence reigns in the Grizzly tent as Eva and Cassandra count the amount of trash we picked up.

- 10 for Audrey, 2 dropped. 15 for Lana, 5 dropped.

Cassandra pauses, counting on her fingers silently, before shifting to Lana and I.

- You can consider this challenge a success!
