Chapter 3
I spent my day wandering around the city for any sign of a curse. Yet I could not find a single curse that was worse than mine. All the curses I found were pitiful, so I started to lose hope. Just as I was about to give up, I caught sight of something extremely familiar. It was a giant four-story colosseum. I hung on the railing, looking towards the colosseum, as though I was being pulled towards it. The building was not as grand as it used to be, and there were long lines of people inside it. Words escaped my mouth,“It's gotten so old.”
I stayed behind the railing because I felt that if I got any closer I would burst into a thousand tears. I let go of the railing with hesitation and sprinted down the sidewalk. I needed to get away fast. Yet the sidewalk curved towards the colosseum, and I could not stop my legs from getting closer. I followed the sidewalk down to the colosseum, and I ran down the road. I jumped down the railing-guarded wall, and I walked up to the colosseum, where I stood staring up at it.
“You really ended up getting completed. I thought that they would give up on completing you because of the war or something. Too bad I never got to see you in your glory days.” I whispered, afraid that a human would hear me.
The colour disappeared from the sky, and every building shone with warm, vibrant colours. I walked away from the colosseum, and my legs grew weaker as I walked without a destination. I stopped immediately as I felt a strange feeling appear to my right. A curse had just been cast. It was quite strong as well.
I ran towards the strange feeling and came across a trash bin. The feeling was coming from inside the bin, so I reached inside and grabbed hold of something furry. I yanked my hand back in surprise and pulled myself up to see what was inside.
“Those stupid kids, If I was their parent, they would be in big trouble.” A red rabbit raged, laying amongst the garbage.
My eyes widened at the sight of this.
“Do you need help? Or do you live here?” I asked the rabbit.
The rabbit looked at me immediately.
“You can hear me? Get me out of here, won’t you?” The rabbit asked.
“Okay.”
I pondered for a while and determined how I wouldn't have to jump into the garbage. I grabbed the garbage can and shook it upside down until the rabbit fell out of it. The rabbit laid on the ground, and I quickly put the garbage bin back down and rushed toward the rabbit.
“Did you die?” I asked the rabbit.
The rabbit jumped up and started kicking my leg.
“Why couldn't you at least pull me up using my ears? You didn’t have to throw me out of the fucking garbage bin!”
I kicked the rabbit to the side, using little to no force.
“Sorry.” I apologised with a straight face.
“Hey! You're that stupid guy from earlier! Remember me? I saved you.” Announced the rabbit.
My eyebrows furrowed, and I turned to walk away.
“I remember. Goodbye, live a prosperous life.”
“Stop!” Yelled the rabbit as he kicked my back.
I stood unmoving and turned to face the rabbit with disappointment.
The rabbit begged, “You have to help me! You're the only one who can understand me! Please!”
I looked down at the rabbit and sighed.
“The only reason I can understand you is because I am a demon. All so-called supernatural beings can understand you. Go find someone else to bother.” I stated.
I was about to leave when I remembered something important. I needed a curse, that was the whole reason I was on earth to begin with. I thought, “Why am I running away from something that just landed at my feet? I should take this opportunity while I still can.”
“So you really are a demon. I thought those were just body modifiers, I guess that was stupid of me not to question it more. If you are not going to help me, I might as well go try to find someone else. I hope I won’t get thrown in the trash again,” the rabbit spoke as it hopped away.
The lights shone down on the rabbit as it made its way down the sidewalk, a truly depressing sight. I leaped toward the rabbit and held him high above me.
“Fine! I will help you find a way to lift your curse! I promise!”
“It’s a deal then,” declared the rabbit.
A while passed as me and the rabbit walked towards his house.
“I’m Andrew Amery, by the way.” Said the rabbit suddenly.
I was startled by these sudden words since he had not spoken in awhile. A pained smile grew on my stern expression and I said, “My name is Vita, and I don’t remember my last name.”
