Meanwhile, Miira was heading to the infirmary where Kato and Yamato had been taken to for treatment after Arou had brought them in the day before. 

On her way there, she crossed paths with the Imperial Guard, who were en route to answer a call from the elders. The Imperial Guard was made up of formidable Shadows but four of them stood out and led them the entire group.

Daemon Evans, Aisha Randrich, Rio Shushan and Doma Arikata

These were the head members of the imperial guard and they were led by Doma Arikata. They were formidable shadows in their respective clans and were personally picked by the elders to be their protective guards who would protect the elders and go on personal missions for them. This mission would require them to slaughter innocent lighters, humans and shadows who didn’t cooperate with them.

However, since Ervin Hashido involved himself in the affairs of the shadow society, the missions the Imperial guard had to go on were reduced drastically. 

The imperial guard believed in the agenda of the Elders which was that Shadows should have absolute rule over the world, but Ervin Hashido’s involvement in their affairs had put a stop to it and the imperial guard disliked Ervin Hashido for this. And because they hated Ervin Hashido, they also hated anyone related to him by blood.

So by extension, they hated Mira as well, but the one who hated Mira more was Doma Aritaka. 

Doma: (smirked) Oh? It’s the half ass brat.

Mira rolled her eyes.

Mira: Nice to see you too Doma.

Doma: So, how’s the new guy doing? I heard he got his ass handed to him yesterday. 

Mira: Huh? What are you talking about?

Doma clicked his tongue.

Doma: Don’t play dumb. I’m talking about Kato Hamura. I heard that twit just happened to awaken the god eye. But if he can't win a fight without getting hurt, then he's pretty useless. But then again, anything involving your bloodline ends in catastrophe.

The other members of the Imperial Guard laughed as Mira kept her composure and began to walk away. 

Aisha: We see you always clinging to Kato Hamura like the creep you are. (gasps) Are you perhaps in love with him?

Rio and Daemon burst into laughter while Mira tried to maintain her composure.

Doma: I guess she did inherit something from her father after all. Both of them ended up falling in love with weaklings who have no value.

Mira’s composure began to crack at their words.

Mira: YOU BETTER BE CAREFUL ABOUT THE NEXT WORDS YOU’RE GOING TO SAY. 

Aisha: (mockingly) Uh-oh she’s angry.

Doma: Or what? You wanna go at it right here right now?

Mira: You know your techniques would never work on me right?

Doma: Won’t it? Guess we’ll wait and see how long you hold out then.

Doma’s hand began to form beads of shadow energy as he prepared to strike, but before he could, he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Kenji standing behind him.

Kenji: That’s enough now Doma. Besides, you should know by now that your techniques won’t work on her.  

Doma shrugged off Kenji’s hand.

Doma: TSK! I don’t need you to tell me that, you piece of trash. 

Kenji sighed and then his calm demeanor turned into something colder. 

Kenji: Call me a piece of trash one more time and I’ll hit you so hard that you won’t have time to feel it. 

Doma looked at Kenji who stared right back at him for a few seconds before finally raising his hands in defeat.

Doma: (to the rest of the imperial guard) Let’s go. We have more important things to do than waste our time here.

Kenji and Mira watched the imperial guard as they walked away and then Kenji turned to Mira.

Kenji: Are you alright? 

Mira: (annoyed) Those guys just piss me off!!! Who do they think they are!?

Kenji: Lowlives like them are the reason I never joined the Imperial Guard when they asked me. Anyway, you were heading to the infirmary right?

Mira: Yeah.

Kenji: I was heading there too. Let's go.

Kato had already woken up by the time they got to the infirmary. Aside from the small headache and the bandages on his head, the rest of Kato's body was fine. It felt like the events of the previous day was a bad dream he had just woken up from. 

Then he looked at the direction of the door just as soon as Mira and Kenji stepped in. 

Kato: Oh… hey guys.

Mira immediately rushed and sat beside him while Kenji stood beside Mira.

Mira: Are you okay? 

Kato nodded.

Kato: My head's a little fuzzy but aside from that, I'm okay. (he turned to Kenji) Your mom is the one who healed me again, yeah?

Kenji: No… She was busy at work so I did. 

Kato wasn't even surprised when he heard this.

Kato: Well, that makes a lot of sense. (pauses) What about Yamato? He was hurt pretty badly. 

Mira: He's fine. Isaiah, Uta and Cookie are with him right now. 

Kato: I see (heaves a sigh of relief) That's really good to hear. 

The events from the previous day suddenly flashed in Kato's mind again and then he turned to Mira and Kenji.

Kato: Yesterday… it felt like I was gonna die and then I suddenly got stronger and I beat him. I can't even explain how I did it. 

Ervin entered the room at that moment.

Ervin: Then allow me to explain it to you. It's nice to see you're okay, Kato. 

Ervin then sat down and explained the origin of Shadow and Light energy, the Heirs, the three clans and how Sorin Hashido changed everything. But what was important to Kato at that moment was the Hamorabi Clan. 

Kato: I don't get it. If the Hamorabi Clan were all annihilated years ago, then how am I holding a power that belongs to them?

Ervin sighed.

Ervin: I believe it has something to do with… your father. 

Kato’s eyes widened in shock as that was a topic he never liked to discuss.

Ervin: I think your Dad knows something or was at least a descendant from the Hamorabi Clan. But we can't know for sure. 

Kato scratched his head in confusion. 

Kato: My Dad? That low life who left his family and never came back? Screw that. Screw him!! 

Ervin sensed that Kato wasn't comfortable and decided not to press on it any further.

Kenji: But now it makes sense why you were kidnapped and why there were multiple shadowfication incidents that stopped after they found you.

Mira: Whoever this group are, they seem to be after your power and I don't think that's the full story. Right Dad?

Ervin nodded.

Ervin: I have a working theory and if I'm correct, all the other Heirs could be in danger. But let's table that issue aside for now. Kato needs to rest. I'll fill you in on other things after you fully recover. Is that fine by you?

Kato nodded his head as Ervin stood to his feet.

Ervin: Well then, I guess I'll get out of your hair now.

But as Eevin turned to leave, Kato suddenly remembered something.

Kato: Mr Ervin? 

Ervin: Yes?

Kato: You're the current head of the Hashido Clan aren't you?

Ervin: Yes, I believe I said that moments ago.

Kato: So does that mean that you at least have knowledge on the other Clans? Even the Hamorabi Clan?

Ervin turned back to Kato and Kenji and Mira continued to look at him as he continued.

Kato: I… I just feel like there's a lot I don't know and I'm trying to fill that lack of knowledge with something. I need to know more about myself. 

Ervin smirked. 

Ervin: Don't worry. That isn't a problem. When you get better, I will tell you all that you need to know about the Hamorabi Clan since you're currently its head. 

Kato chuckled when he heard this as he hadn't thought about it that way.

Kato: Yeah, I guess. 

Ervin smiled and then left the room and as soon as he left, Mira turned and smiled at Kato.

Mira: Head of a clan at the age of seventeen? That's pretty cool if you ask me. 

Kato: Yeah… but I'm the only clan member.

Mira: Oh…

Kenji: He does have a point though.

Mira: Uh…
