( debate day )
Charlie: I’m dying, i’ll lose, i know, i will.
Andy: Hey, you are not losing! Remember who you are!
Charlie: A stupid little gay nerd?
Andy: You are Charlie Spring, a gay nerd, yes, but that’s just the surface, they don't know what's underneath! show them! i know what’s in there, because i’m your friend, but they don’t. tell them.
Nick: Good speech!
Charlie: Heyyy, babyyy!
Nick: You’ll be amazing, don’t worry.
( A teacher calls Charlie and Andy )
Charlie: Hi everyone! i’m not really sure that i am the person that most of you wanted here, but, many people told me that i can do this, that i can be good to this school, and i believe them, not only because i love them, but also because i know, that a person like me can really help this place.
But what does “a person like me” mean? Well, my friend and vice, Andy told me that you only know the surface of me, and that’s true, because i know that the only things that you know about me are that i am a gay nerd who tried rugby. I’m not saying that these things are not true… they are, i am a nerd, i love studying and i am a high achiever, i am gay, very gay, and yes, i tried rugby because i had a crush on someone, But there’s more.
I became a nerd because i didn’t have any friends, until three amazing people came and became my best friends; i am gay, but i’ve never came out to all of you, i was outed, i was 14 years old when that happened, i wasn’t ready, but i couldn’t deny it, because you can’t deny who you really are. I was bullied, really badly for months, and for this, i started treating my body really badly.
Now, i have a boyfriend, who loves me, and i love him, i have the best friendship group, i have rugby, and i like rugby, i love the rugby lads, they taught me that, no matter what your sexuality is, sports are for everyone.
But now, i need to talk to you about that main point of our campaign, bullism, every kind of bullism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, every type, we need to understand our differences, we are all different, and that’s good, it’s not a bad thing, and just because someone is different doesn’t mean he has to be bullied for it, people don’t ask for bullying, people want compassion, we need to understand people, listen to them and help them. Well, I think that’s it! Thank you!
Buddy: I think it’s my turn now, this school has been very important to all of us for a very long time, and the only thing that I care about is to keep going like this, like it used to be. That’s all.
Principal: Okay, well, Andy, do you want to say anything, since you’re Charlie’s vice?
Buddy: She is just the vice!
Nick and Harry: Oh oh…
