The day of the "field trip" had arrived, and Ophelia, who had slept through two of her alarms and Amelia's loud exit of their shared room, was now quickly dressing herself in a tuxedo dress and contacts before running down to the entrance.
While running, she quickly fastened a pin holding her family's crest of a purple orchid.
Arriving at the entrance, she saw the rest of her classmates dressed in suits and fine dresses. All of them sticking out from the crowd of students.
"2 minutes before the deadline, huh?" she heard Amelia say.
"God dammit!" Jimmy swore, handing Amelia a 10 euro bill.
A bit away, I could hear William stand arguing with someone.
"And why does a school even have its own militia!"
"Well, because as you might have figured out, this school has some pretty big enemies." Sara's voice rang out.
"I wasn't aware Sara was going to join us this time, too." Ophelia said.
"Neither did we." Nadia answered.
"And by the looks of it, neither did William." Nicholas said.
"Oh yeah, and as you might have figured out, I can handle this myself. How hard can it be to take some no names into a casino?" William continued his argument with Sara.
"You could barely handle a single member of the hand!" Sara snapped back.
Hearing that William seemed to go silent.
"I-I mean he was the thumb..." William muttered, turning his face away in shame that he had to admit this.
"The thumb?! Were you not able to stand toe to toe with the heads of the crowns?" Sara taunted him.
"Yeah, well why don't you spend three years running from ancient library to ancient library without much real interactions with people!" William exclaimed.
"Let's see how much you would have grown then, huh!" he taunted her.
The group simply stood quietly watching the two bicker with each other.
"These are the ones who are supposed to be our protection?" Abigail asked.
"Unfortunately." Hector responded with a heavy sigh.
"Well maybe we should just start walking." Ophelia said as she walked past the two bickering teachers.
Eventually, the two followed the group, taking the lead.
"By the way, are you sure you should wear that?" Sara asked pointing out William's suit.
His suit seemed different from any regular tuxedo. It looked almost as if it wasn't just made from fabric. As he stretched his limbs, the suit moved with him without any sort of restraint. It was almost as if he was covered in some sort of liquid.
"Yeah, I made a few adjustments to it, but even if I didn't, there is no way they would recognize me without the, you know what." Williams spoke cryptically.
Listening in to their conversation, Ophelia couldn't stop thinking about William's appearance. For her, it seemed so familiar, but she couldn't point out from where she had seen it before.
"Yeah, you said that during our 2012 job in Slovakia too." Sara said.
"Well, during Slovakia, all of us were pretty hammered." William retorted.
"Slovakia?" Hector asked.
"We had this odd job where we were asked to beat up some mobsters. However, they were the same guys that we once had back-stabbed a year prior. So William got the bright idea to just dress more fancy. Because they couldn't possibly recognize us then." Sara explained.
"Odd job?" Abigail joined in, curiosity beaming from her eyes.
Sara turned to William for a moment.
"Wait you... You haven't..." Sara spoke.
William simply shook his head.
"I-it's nothing..." Sara then said, sweat seeming to run down her face.
Now extra curious, the English joined into the conversation.
"Nothing huh?" Amelia repeated smugly.
"Oh, were you guys like hit-men?" Jimmy then exclaimed.
This caused Sara to jump.
"God no!" she screamed.
"William, me, and his siblings where part of a group that took contract jobs from whoever paid the most. Only thing we didn't do was murder." Sara explained to a now much more disappointed Amelia and Jimmy.
Sara glanced over to an uncaring William, venom in her eyes.
"So that's why you have such weird connections and crimes under your name." Ophelia spoke.
"Yep. Your professor here is somewhat of a pro." William spoke, flexing his ego.
"A pro at messing up basic tasks." Sara continued.
William glared at her.
"Oh, I remember that we still have a 100% success rate." William huffed.
"So would you call Brazil 2013 a success?" Sara asked, a wicked grin on her lips.
William quickly got silent.
"9... 98% success rate..." William shivered.
"That's what I thought." Sara spoke with a smug grin.
The students who had only been listening started to individually theorize what this Brazil job could have been to make their professor look so embarrassed.
As they walked, their tickets started to glow faintly, and soon they felt the tickets almost drag them towards where they wanted.
Eventually, the group stopped right by a brick wall down an ally.
"Is this it?" Nadia asked.
"Seems so." Hector responded.
William put his hand up to the brick wall, and it almost seemed to bend as he pressed into it.
He let out a chuckle and then said.
"Abigail might need you for this."
Abigail walked up to her new professor, her yellow dress was almost shining in contrast to William's black tux.
"Put your hand on the wall like I do." William instructed her.
As soon as she did, the wall started to expand, looking more like an inflated balloon than a brick wall. The yade emitting from her body became to much for the illusion and eventually it popped and a pathway was opened up.
There behind it stood a pristine gold tube guarded by a man dressed in fine clothes. He looked similar to a butler. On his suit, he had a brooch of a serpent surrounding a whale.
"Well, what do we have here?" the tired looking man asked, his voice sounding much older than his appearance would show.
"Looks like we have some unwelcome visitors trying to break in. Can't have that now, can we?" the man said.
The Butler-dressed man now started to approach the group, a threatening aura surrounding him.
William quickly turned to Ophelia with a thumbs up.
"Your time to shine." he whispered.
"To do what?" Ophelia whispered.
However, William simply gave her a big smile and now held both thumbs up.
She sighed and then walked up to the man, who was pulling up the sleeves of his suit.
"Good sir, there seems to be a mistake here." Ophelia spoke, her voice calm and assertive.
"You can certainly say that." the butler answered.
"You see, me and my friends here were sold tickets to the Leviathan's den, but they seem to be fakes. Since we couldn't open the gate with the tickets, we took matters into our own hands." Ophelia said.
The butler stood quiet for a second analyzing the group.
"And you people are?" he then asked.
"My name is Ophelia Cosmatos. Daughter of the current head of the Cosmatos family and future head of the Cosmatos family." Ophelia told him, pointing at her pin.
A look of horror went over the butler's face as he heard her name.
"And if my family finds out that you not only sold me and my friends fake tickets but also threatened me. I think you can find out what would happen."
"M-many apologies, ma'am! I was not aware of y-your name... Please forgive me." the man pleads as he bowed low to show respect.
Internally, Ophelia scuffed at the situation, but she continued her act.
"Well, I can forgive you if you let us down like we had planned. And of course, I wish to be given the money back for these fraudulent tickets." Ophelia ordered.
"Of course, ma'am. It will be done." the man spoke, sweating profusely.
The butler then opened the door to the golden tube-like structure that stood in the middle.
"Please enjoy your stay here at the Leviathan's den. Since we can not directly refund the money to your account, I will tell the staff of this mix up, and all your drinks will be on the house tonight." the man said.
"That will suffice." Ophelia sighed as she stepped into the tube.
Not skipping a beat, the rest of the group followed her into the tube and were then closed in as the man locked the door.
The floor then slowly began to sink down into the earth as the tube was in fact an elevator of sorts.
They quickly descended down through the earth before they started to move horizontally going out into the ocean.
As they descended down into the blue abyss, William moved closer to Jimmy, who was stuck staring at the different sea creatures that passed them by.
"Can I ask you something?" William asked.
"Eh... yeah." Jimmy said, a mixture of concern and confusion in his voice.
"Well, that personal ability of yours. If I'm not wrong, it can copy anything you have seen before, right?" William asked.
Jimmy gave him a nod, and William continued.
"How many things can you copy at once?"
"Well, it works kind of like me holding different objects in my mind that I can then paste out into reality. At first, I could only hold three different things, but now I have eight slots available." Jimmy explained.
"Seven slots are taken up, though. I can print out all of them at once it just kind of drains me." Jimmy told him.
William listened in silence.
"How about others' abilities? Can you copy those?" William asked.
Jimmy seemed to tense up hearing his question.
"... Kinda. Not completely, but I have recently started making more progress than I did when I was younger. I can feel it take up a slot, but nothing I can use. Just causes me a migraine." he explained.
"But you think you can do it?" William asked.
"With more training... probably." Jimmy answered.
William seemed to smile hearing this.
"Anyway, I noticed that during the test, you where able to print out weapons." William started.
Jimmy got flustered.
"I-I'm sorry, Sir. I will get rid of them right away." Jimmy half lied, wanting to keep his replicas but a bit afraid to go against someone much stronger than him.
However, William raised his hands.
"Hold on. I never said you needed to. In fact, I want you to keep them. They might be useful. Especially today." William told him.
"Now how many weapons do you have printed and what kind?" he asked.
Jimmy simply looked at him.
"five, a set of AK's, two pistols, a knife, and a bat. I have ruber bullets loaded into the guns as i print them. " Jimmy told him.
"What about the last two slots?" William asked.
"The clothes of the guy from the test and..." Jimmy said.
He then looked around before whispering.
"A dessert eagle with .50 AE bullets."
William nodded along.
"If things go south, I will signal you to create the fake guns and hand them out to the group." William told him.
"However, if I deem the situation as going even further south I shall give you this hand sign." he said whilst crossing his fingers.
"And I want you to print me that last one. But hand it only to me. You got that?" William told him.
Jimmy nodded, and William slowly shuffled away.
Not much later, a golden glimmer was visible from the ocean depths as now a dome of gold, marble and bone was visible.
Before long, the tube entered through a hole into a air bubble made out of magic. The doors flung open, and loud music and the stench of alcohol and perfume filled the cramped tube.
A fine dressed lady with curly blond hair clad in a marine blue dress greeted them.
"Welcome friends and foes to the greatest place on earth! Welcome to the leviathan's den!"
