(Lancelot’s POV)
My body... felt hot...
“Master, he has a high fever, and also anaemia...”
Huh... What...
“Use any means possible to bring him back to normal. If necessary, perform blood transfusion also...”
My mind feels fuzzy, yet I could hear voices of people talking.
Who...
...
(Lancelot’s POV)
“...?”
As I finally gained consciousness, I tried to open my eyes. They felt very heavy. When I finally managed to somewhat open it, the first sight that I see was the first prince sleeping soundly on a chair. I looked at him with my eyes wide.
...Is this heaven?
Whoa, to think that I could meet him in heaven. But he was still alive, so maybe an angel that resembles him? As I scooted near him, I feel that my body is very heavy, but I brushed it off by thinking that it might just the aftereffects of dying.
When I had reached him and was stroking his face, he woke up. He flinched when he saw me and his face was a bit red.
“...What are you doing?”
He said; with a frown on his face.
“I died, right?”
I asked him while stroking his face. He twitched at my touch sometimes.
“…No, you are still alive.”
“Hmm?”
Then I realized that my hands had a thin tube attached to them. Reality finally returned back to me and I stopped stroking him as I slowly retreated back to the bed. I looked down all the time, because I was too embarrassed to look at him in the face.
The prince cleared his throat and adjusted his crumpled clothes. Then he sat facing me.
“Are you okay? Did you feel pain anywhere?”
“...I’m good. Except the sluggish feeling and light-headedness, everything is good.” I answered.
“I see.” He stood up and tucked me back under the blanket.
“Then rest a little bit more. I’ll bring the food for you.” He said, before he left the room and closed the door behind him.
I stared at the ceiling blankly. I am very confused right now. I remember dying on his lap and breathed my last breath. Just when I thought that I had died, I am back alive, and even have the prince as the one taking care of me.
But wait, of course he would ask something in return. The only relevant choices of questions that I think he might ask is about Avery. When he asked me those questions, what should I answer him?
I don’t mind if the Ronans harmed me, because my death wasn’t of any significance to the story, but I have a fief that I need to take care of. I couldn’t just leave them be before they can operate on their own.
Also, I didn’t die within the time scape, so does that mean the story changed? Oh no, what should I do? I rolled to my sides and reminisced back about the events in the novel. Most of the events after Lancelot’s death was more or less love story between the MC and her fiancé the second prince. She would also be surrounded by her harem that likes her but they could only love her from afar.
Talking about harem, the first prince was supposed to be one of the harems. What is he doing here?
The door opened and he appeared with a tray in his hands. He walked near me and placed the tray on the small cupboard beside the bed.
“Here, eat some porridge. It will give you some energy.”
He helped me sit up and placed a small table in front of me. Then, he carefully placed the tray on it.
“Be careful, its hot.”
“T-Thank you...”
I scooped the soup and sipped it slowly. They tasted very delicious and smooth on the throat. I moan in happiness. Now that I remember it, what happened back in the grand hall, did the annulment went well?
“Your highness, what happened last night?”
I saw the prince’s eyes twitched slightly.
“If you’re talking about the ceremony, Louis annulled his engagement with Avery.”
“Oh...”
I continued on eating the porridge. The surrounding calmed down for a bit before the prince suddenly spoke,
“You were unconscious for two weeks. Do you not remember it?”
In an instant, I choked on the porridge and worse, it entered the wrong tube, making me gasp for air. The prince quickly handed me a glass of water and I gulped on it.
“Phew~ I thought I was done for.” I put the empty glass on the tray.
“So, you were saying that I fell unconscious for 2 weeks after the incident?”
“Yes. You have high fever and anaemia. Also, the remaining poison also started acting out so we called a saint and she fully cleansed the poison from your body.”
I fluttered my eyes in confusion. “Cleansed? What do you mean? Aren’t the poison incurable?”
“It is incurable because it acted like a cancer that attach to the body cells. While in your case, the poison somehow had already been completely extracted from your cells, all that’s left is to bring that substance out from your body.”
“...I don’t get it but what I know is that the poison is no more inside my body, right?”
“Yeah, exactly.”
In that very moment, it felt as if a heavy burden were lifted from my shoulders.
“Your highness, thank you...”
“For what?”
“For insisting on me to live. I have waited my whole life to be able to live my life even for a little bit longer. Thats why, thank you.”
I giggled happily.
Unconsciously, the prince also weaved a gentle smile. “Enough, eat.”
I continued on chomping the porridge when it had cold down a little. I know that there would be many more problems and obstacles ahead in my life. But gosh! That is what LIFE literally looks like!
Cecilia
The discussion room fell silent. Everyone was wearing an anxious expression after they heard Aran’s report. The king, the queen, Louis and Cecilia were invited to the meeting room to hear the report regarding the rejuvenation of Baron Constance.
Cecilia clenched her hands tight. She was worried and scared at the same time, because the one who tried to harm her was still alive. At that moment, Louis held her hands.
“Are you okay, Cecilia? That must have been very disheartened to hear.”
Louis said to her. He knew very well that Cecilia is scared of Baron Constance.
“Thank you. I’m good. It’s just...” She looked at Aran. “Mr. Aran, is the spirit that healed the Baron dark coloured?”
Aran shook his head.
“No. To be more precise, the spirits were green coloured and rather than only one, there are seven spirits that returned back his soul to his body. Moreover, fairies started gathering at that place when it happened.”
Cecilia’s eyes widen in surprise.
“...Elder Ritual...”
“What?”
The king asked.
“Your majesty, if what Aran said is accurate, what happened was called Elder Ritual, a mythical ritual performed by the seven elder of the elves in order to return dead people back to life, in compensation of their life..”
“What?! Doesn’t that mean that it was an illegal ritual?!”
The king stood up in anger. Has the Baron finally resorted to black magic just to not die?
“...Not possibly...” Cecilia replied hesitantly.
“What do you mean…?”
“The Elder Ritual is mythical due to the difficulty of performing it. Besides, it requires consent from all the elders before they agreed to perform it. If even one doesn’t agree, the ritual might end up killing that certain someone.”
The king lifted his eyebrows in surprise. Then, he frowned again.
“...So, they done the ritual knowing fully well of who they want to bring back to life?”
Cecilia slowly nodded.
The king sat back on his seat and the surroundings returned quiet.
“...Something doesn’t feel right. Aran.” He looked at Aran.
“I want you to investigate the Constance household while Asher contain him in the south mansion. Find anything that you can find.”
“Yes, your highness!” Aran replied.
