Chapter 6 [2-2]

Chapter 6 [2-2]

Oct 08, 2024

It’s all been nice having someone to talk to and the way we both been needing each other for support. It’s different to how it’s been between me and Stephanie but I never had help a person like Millie before. We continued to watch the movie, quietly, and we heard my aunt came home with a few bags of groceries. She instantly began to bake cookies and I had to stop Millie from eating all the candies they bought.

“I’m going to change into my pajamas,” Millie excused themselves to the bathroom.

I only changed out of my pants to sweatpants and walked to the kitchen to grab a cookie once it was done. “Thanks,” I told Aunt Jocelyn.

“You guys seem to be having fun,” She said and gave me a small smile. “Thanks for telling me… I rather you not skip school, but I guess it’s more my fault that my parents might be nervous about you staying with me.”

“Why would they care so much to try and have me removed from your guardianship?” I asked.

“I’m sure it’s because I never had a child and because they still haven’t accepted me. They were never supportive when I moved here to get married. They thought I was trying to run away and take myself out of the family,” She explained and shrugged her shoulders. “I didn’t like how they jumped to conclusions and just kept my life to myself. I had a lot happen during that time. I was also embarrassed to run back home or even talk about it with your mom. I thought I was going to be married and grow a family.”

“I guess I’m your family now…” I said and I saw Millie standing by the hallway.

“You were always family. It just means you're more special to me,” Aunt Jocelyn reached out to hug me and held me tightly.

Millie looked down at the ground before stepping back and walked over to the bathroom, maybe to give us more privacy.

“I should get back before Millie gets bored,” I said after a moment and Aunt Jocelyn nodded as she let go of me.

“Right. I should also make those cookies I promised.” Aunt Jocelyn said and opened the grocery bags.

I walked to the bathroom and knocked lightly until Millie opened the door. “You don’t have to hide anymore,” I leaned on the door frame and made sure I wasn’t loud enough for my aunt to hear.

“I wasn’t hiding,” Millie said as they hugged their clothes and stared at themselves in the mirror.

I noticed the difference between Millie wearing make-up and now having it all removed. I’m able to notice their sharp jawline and there were some bags under their eyes, but Millie’s eyes seemed darker without the bright eyeshower they normally use. Millie does have long hair, but I never realized it was barely shoulder length and I always assumed that they wore extensions. This part of Millie exposed more of their masculinity and it was a bit odd seeing them like this after all the make-up or the dresses. Millie's face turned a shade of red and we locked eyes for a moment.

”Why are you looking at me like that?” They asked.

“Sorry… It’s just… It’s my first time seeing you without your makeup,” I said.

”Do I look bad in my boy body? I’m sure you liked it more with all the glam,” Millie smiled and turned to face me. “I promise I’ll look normal again in the morning.”

”Boy-body? No, that’s not what I meant. I never noticed… Okay, yes some features, but I wasn’t looking at you in a bad way. I promise,” I said and tried to find words that didn’t sound offensive. “I’m only saying-”

“I’m just kidding,” Millie smiled and looked behind me before turning back. “That was really nice of you to say. Your aunt is really lucky.”

“I just told her how I felt,” I mumbled.

“I think your aunt is already seeing you as her son,” Millie whispered.

“You think so?”
“Yeah… It sounds like it. Also, she’s making cookies and cookies made with love are gonna taste  so good.” Millie comments.

“I’m so it’s those pre-made cookies that’s putting in the oven,” I laughed.

“Still made with love,” Millie tapped my chest and pushed me aside to step out of the bathroom. “Let’s go watch another movie. We need to watch a scary movie now.”

“Oh, let’s watch the Grudge,” I followed behind them and led Millie back to my room.
“Is that the one with the girl coming out of the television?” Millie asked.

“No, that’s a different movie. So, are you also going to stay tomorrow night as well?” I asked curiously and sat down at the couch in my room.

“Hell yes. I’m enjoying this too much and your room is so cool. I’ll be coming over to hang out every day now,” Millie said, grabbing a new candy bag.
“Don’t ruin your appetite and you can’t just come every day,” I chuckled and shook my head. “It’s already enough that I see you every day at school.”

“And are you sick of me already?” Millie raised an eyebrow and reached for the remote to search for a movie.

“I didn’t say that,” I replied.

“Was your girlfriend ever at your house?” Millie asked.

“No, not really. She was always on the dance team or cheerleader so she would have practice after school. She didn’t have the time to come over and my mom didn’t like her over late at night,” I said and watched Millie press play on the horror movie. “Mom was so strict. She caught Stephanie sneaking into my room and gave me the sex talk. That was so embarrassing.”

Millie laughed and shook their head in disbelief. “Not the birds-and-the-bees talk. I would die. Did Stephanie stay in the room to hear it too?”

“No. I would die too if she heard that conversation, but Mom gave her the walk of shame to the front door. She didn’t try sneaking in after that.” I said and smiled at the memory. “It was funny seeing Mom so mad…”

Millie looked at me and was about to speak when the movie caught their attention. “Ugh, this is so dark. What are we watching.”

I tried not to laugh and shrugged my shoulders. “You said to pick a scary movie.”

Millie continued to watch and felt their hands reaching to grab my shirt, “No. Don’t open the closet.”

“Don’t tell me you hate scary movies,” I chuckled.

We watched the scene as the lady looked up at the attic and right when the ghost attacked, Aunt Jocelyn walked into the room, giving Millie a fright. I couldn’t help laughing seeing them jump and Aunt Jocelyn frowned seeing the movie we were watching. I had to take the plate of cookies and convince Millie to continue watching the movie. I couldn’t decide which to watch, the jumpscare scenes from the movie or Millie gasping at each of those scenes. I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this night, but it was something that I enjoyed and I’m curious about what tomorrow will bring.

I thought I would have chapters prepared while I was on vacation, but I don't. Luckily I still have a few days off work to catch up on my writing.
I hope everyone is doing okay :)
