"Ru...Rulan!" The boy blinked a couple of times before seeing a pale male in front of him, confused. "H-huh, oh sorry, what was that?" The male asked with a weak chuckle, then glanced at his friend. "I was asking if you wanted-"
"Oi! There goes that weirdo again! "
"Hey, what are you doing around here, Ratface?"
They both glanced over to a group of students around their age. They were one of the mischief groups in the school. Dylan glared as Rulan only sighed in annoyance; since it wasn't the first, he looked away to walk to the school's decorated gates. "Come on, Dylan…" He said as he grabbed Dylan by the arm to make him follow, but he was interrupted by the thugs who rushed over to get in the way.
"Not so fast, "He shook a finger and put his arm around Rulan. "I thought you went back to wherever you came from for good. I guess you couldn't -" He began with an evil grin, then stopped when he saw Dylan, who pulled Rulan away. "Ah, D, I didn't know you came back." He began adjusting his bag. "When did you leave juvie?" He asked as if he hadn’t seen him earlier.
"Don't worry about it, Brick. The main question is, what are you doing?" He said to him, then added. "I thought we agreed to leave him be." Which made the gang chuckle at this before speaking, "Who made you King D?" he asked, then added. "Remember you left our group, and I took over," He pointed at himself. "So whatever you said before doesn't matter, my guy." Hearing this made Dylan stiffen as he knew Brick was running wild. "Oh?" Dylan said, now getting his composer back, entertained by what he heard, and glanced over to the others and then back at Rulan, who tugged him a bit to end this. The curly-haired boy saw his friend's hand slowly becoming a fist, ready to burst.
Rulan didn't like where this was going, and they had many things to do today, like practice for orchestra class, eat lunch, or something else —anything that didn't involve getting in trouble. Well, at least not today. "Dylan, you promised…." the boy finally said quietly, not wanting to be here anymore. "Aww, ain't this just cute," Brick said mockingly. "Don't let me interrupt you two any longer...seeing how your pet rat is hiding as always." He said with another grin and crossed arms, making Dylan want to wring his neck, but held back as he turned away. "Fine, let's go." With that, they left.
Brick's friends looked confused and glanced over. "Hey, why did you stop? You said we were gonna have our fun today?" they complained, which Brick answered, looking at them. "Don't worry, boys. We are still gonna have our fun," he glanced back over to Dylan and Rulan, "but it looks like we are gonna have some trouble as D is back sooner than expected."
