Jenny grabs the door wall to stop them from pulling her inside. My mind became clear at that sight.
‘I need to pull myself together!’ I said to myself
Out of fear, I did move my feet to her but she shouted..
“Don’t come here!!” She said that while holding on to the door wall to lure the monster from knowing that I'm here…
Also..
She said that to me so that I could run away.
I don’t want to leave her… especially when I know what’s inside the chapel. I was ready to move when I heard a voice.
“Oh dear, don’t scream.. your brothers and sisters inside the house will hear you.” A very familiar voice I heard.
My world suddenly stopped when I heard that voice.
“Don’t you know? You will help us to grow up if you let us taste you. It’s a will from god.” She continued.
I can't breathe...
That voice ……
The only person who takes care of us ..
The only person we trust….
Our only guardian….
Sister Joan.
My mind was doubting thoughts on how I move. Should I go there or should I run away? I don’t know what to do.
My mind snapped when I heard footsteps.
“DON’T COME HERE!!!” Jenny shouted at me ans shook her head.
Luckily, they can't see me where I am through a bushes of trees.
My tears fell from my face while looking at her and saying ‘sorry’ to her. She smiled at me and I saw her mouth saying ‘it’s ok... stay alive’.
I ran faster far from them. I ran hurriedly and neatly, avoiding the large sounds. While running away, I looked back. I stopped when I saw Jenny getting eaten by the monster. They chopped Jenny’s body. They pull first her arms, the next is her legs and they eat her head. They left the body as if they were reserving it. And I was right, they were reserving it to her… to sister Joan.
Sister Joan transformed into something, her skin colour is brown and her fingers are long too. Her eyes were red and her teeth got sharper. Almost look like not an ordinary person.
When I saw that, I ran away.
I got into my room sooner than I expected. I locked my door and closed the windows fearing that those monsters would come to my room. My whole body was trembling and I can’t forget what I saw.
‘What are we doing here? Are we gonna be food to those monsters? What about Jenny?’ Many questions and thoughts are coming through my head. I don’t know what to do.
My emotions were not stable. I don’t know what I felt anymore. I don’t know if it was fear, sadness, loneliness or hate.
My mind was going crazy to these thoughts. And all I could do was regret that I couldn't save my only friend.
“What should I do? Jenny... What should I do?" I said and suddenly a tear fell from my eyes.
I cried and I embrace the doll Jenny left behind.
“I’m sorry.. I’m sorry.. I couldn’t save you.. I’m a coward.. I’m a fool! I don’t deserve to be alive!” I said to Jenny's doll while holding it.
*****
The next day, on our breakfast. Sister Joan acts like doesn’t anything happened that night. She feeds us and takes care of the little ones like nothing happens.
‘So, we are the food here?’ I thought to myself.
I want to vomit just thinking of what happened. Any food that I look at feels horrible for me.
I stare at the food. I thought of Jenny. ‘Jenny is dead. She’s dead because of her.’
My mind was saying that I want to kill sister Joan and her companions. I want to chop them off and burn them into that chapel of theirs.
“Ben?” Someone tapped my shoulder.
“Are you ok?” Said the person who I hate the most.
“It’s ok, Jenny will be happy for her new parents. I assure you. So you don't need to be sad.” She continued.
“Actually, I forgot to tell you that if you feel lonely you can write her a letter and I will send it to her new residence.” She smiled at me.
‘Liar!!! Go to hell!!!!’ I shout that to my mind.
“Really? Would you do that for me?” I asked her straight to her eyes.
“Of course! I know how close you are to Jenny so that simple thing is the only way I can help to ease your feelings.” She replied.
I don’t know how the hell she would reply if I write a letter because Jenny is no longer here. Unless, they can copy a person's ability. I need to think wise. I need to fool them. And I need to observe them. I need to follow what they want and find their weakness. I need to get out of here and take my revenge for Jenny and to those kids who they ate.
I need to be careful. Very careful so that sister Joan and those monsters won’t know that I knew about them.
I will be their nightmare. And I will be the one who will end their happiness and put them into a hellish nightmare.
At the orphanage, life is very fun. Even without parents, sister Joan takes care of the little ones. But everything changes in the blink of an eye. When Jenny, Ben's best friend, got adopted. He followed her to see who her adopted parents were but a horrible thing happened. A monster came out and it ate her best friend. The most hurtful thing is that the person they trusted the most, Sister Joan, is one of those monsters.
