Select was looking at the newspaper in his office. He was surprised that the front page contained silver for a strange reason, and a symbol. Looking at maps and comparing them with the information from Carpenter’s diary, he discovered that the Forest of a Thousand Dreams was in the middle of an island.
“Great, how the hell do we get there?”
Max scratched his head.
“By renting a rowboat?”
“And also swimming, if you like. How are we going to row for kilometers?” Select replied ironically.
“Or we can steal a boat,” Kate interjected.
“Sure, I do that every day,” Select teased.
“To be honest, if we don’t have money, it might be the best option…”
Select pondered.
“Actually, I know someone who has a boat that could work for us… although I don’t really want to see him much…”
The three heroes were in front of a large building, with “Robinsons Industries” in big letters.
“Isn’t this company one of the most important technology companies in New City?” Max asked.
“Yes, its founder was a friend of mine…”
“RICHARD ROBINSONS IS YOUR FRIEND?!” Max exclaimed.
“He was… in the past.”
Select entered the building.
Once they passed through security and took the elevator, they arrived at the top floor.
“How exciting…” Max said.
“More like desperate…”
After opening a door, Richard Robinsons was sitting in his office.
“Hello Kit,” he greeted dryly.
“Kit?” Max asked, puzzled.
“Select?” Kit said, surprised.
“It’s been a long time…”
“Yeah… I thought I wouldn’t see you again after… that.”
Select became extremely serious.
“I didn’t come to visit you, I need your help.”
“Select!” Max shouted.
Kit looked saddened by that.
“Then I’m afraid I can’t do anything,” Kit replied, hurt.
“I suspected as much, it’s always the same,”
Select was angry.
“What the hell happened between you two? Weren’t you friends?” Max asked.
There was silence until one of them decided to speak.
“It was a long time ago… I made a mistake.”
“You left me behind for this damn company!” Select shouted.
“It was a mistake! I didn’t mean to ignore you, you know?” Kit responded.
“Okay, I’m pretty lost right now…” Max admitted.
“We went to high school together, that’s where we met… And then he left, and I didn’t hear from him again until the news about his company,” Select revealed.
“Wow, that sounds pretty sad,” Max replied.
“I already told you I’m sorry, it wasn’t my intention,” Kit spoke.
“If you help me… maybe I’ll consider forgiving you,” Select said.
“Alright, I’ll help you, but let’s talk about the issue some other day, please.”
Select and Kit agreed with a handshake.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it,” Smith nervously said over the phone.
“Damn it!” he exclaimed.
He was in deep trouble, and to make matters worse, Select had gotten involved. The person who had paid him to obtain Excalibur was not happy, but he didn’t care. Once he had the sword in his possession, he would be rid of that annoyance.
“Idiot.”
Smith hastily pulled out a map in search of the coordinates he had memorized from the diary. He was expecting setbacks with it.
“There you are, the Forest of a Thousand Dreams,” a smile crept onto Smith’s face.
Quickly dialing his phone, he started a call.
“Send me as many soldiers as you can, I know where Excalibur is”
When the most famous stories and artifacts prove to be true, an ironic archaeologist with a lot of luck will have to face formidable enemies who want to use them for their plans.
From Excalibur to passing through Sleepy Hollow, the dangers will not end for Select and company.
