Select versus Smith (Quest for Excalibur, Part 11)

“Do you have it?” Mr. Boss asked Smith.
“Yes, but it’s not for you, it belongs to me now.”
“Damn! My men will end you!”
“I don’t think so.”
As the soldiers aimed at Smith, he disintegrated them with fearsome rays that came out of Excalibur.
“Wow! The legends didn’t mention these powers… Now, I’ll look for financing for my next project… from the richest man in New City…”
In his penthouse office, Kit was putting his things on his desk, bored.
“Hello, rich boy.”
The sound came from outside, where Smith was levitating in the air.
“What the hell?” Kit wondered.
With a strong bolt, the penthouse window shattered, and Kit was thrown back, slamming against the wall.
“I want to do business with you, Mr. Robinsons.”
Select, Kate, and Max watched everything from below.
“Kit!” Select shouted, concerned.
They quickly entered the building, heading to the top floor.
When they arrived there, Smith was holding Kit by the neck. As soon as he saw the elevator open, a look of panic and fury appeared on Smith’s face.
“How can you still be alive?!”
“Let him go,” Select ordered, holding a sword.
“Do you dare to challenge me with that pathetic sword? I am the wielder of Excalibur, you fool!”
“Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?”
Smith pushed Kit away and went straight for Select.
Select blocked the blow with his sword.
“It’s over, Smith!”
“Just die already, Select!”
Smith pushed Select against the wall, to which Select headbutted Smith in the face, freeing himself.
“Enough!” Smith shouted, shooting a lightning bolt at Select.
He dodged it and tried to attack Smith, only to be blocked by his sword.
Smith grabbed Select by the neck.
“When will you realize that I’m better than you?” Smith said.
“All you care about is money, Smith, you’re scum.”
Smith approached the window, with Select in his hands.
“Any last words?”
“Hey, fool!” Max exclaimed, punching him in the face, and Kate scratching his leg.
“Who do you think you are?” Smith exclaimed, furious.
“I am Maxine Powers, and no one hurts my teacher.”
After this, Max delivered a devastating punch to Smith. Unfortunately, Select slipped because of this.
Fortunately, he grabbed onto the ledge of a beam, while Smith fell out of the window, letting go of Excalibur and grabbing onto Select’s leg.
“Select, hold on!” Max said.
“Select, please don’t let me fall!” Smith shouted, almost in tears.
“Give me your hand, Smith,” Select said, surprising even Max himself.
However, Smith slipped from Select’s pants, falling.
“SMITH!!!”
At the bottom, the cruelty and egocentrism of Edward Smith finally ended once and for all.
Max and Kate got on Select.
"Are you okay?" they both asked Select.
"Yes, thank you very much."
Kit approached the group.
"Are you okay, Kit?"
"It's been a busy day, to be honest."
The four sat on the ground, admiring Excalibur.
"That thing can't be in a museum," said Select. "Any ideas, Kit?"
"We have a high-security zone, if that helps…"
"First, my curse," Kate remembered.
"Ah, yes, of course."
And so, Excalibur found a new home, and our heroes a well-deserved rest.
“We have bad news, sir. Robert Select got Excalibur,” said a soldier, peering into the room.
The office was dark, illuminated only by a dim light hanging from the ceiling.
“And Edward Smith?”
“Dead, sir.”
A smile formed on the man’s face, who was sitting at a table.
“Well, one less nuisance.”
“And what about Excalibur, sir?”
“It’s a small problem, but there are many more objects than that sword…”
“Do you want me to find a new contact?”
“No,” the man replied. “I will take care of it myself; I have a small prototype of something that will help us quite a bit.”
“Are you sure?”
“Completely.”
After a long silence, the soldier nodded.
“I expected nothing less from you, Mr. Hamilton.”
Jonathan Hamilton turned, watching his soldier leave, while admiring the sign of his company: Hamilton Technologies.
The days passed for the group. Kate Wilson managed to get rid of the curse she had, and Select and Max returned to the University. In addition, there were no legal issues because the cameras captured that everything was caused by Edward Smith.
Select, Kit, and Max were sitting in the latter’s office.
“Have you made amends?” Max asked.
“More or less,” Select replied.
“I’m glad.”
“By the way, I have something to inform you about, Max. I’ve been talking to Kit and, well, we wanted to thank you for your help.”
“You saved my life, Max, so I’ll take care of financing your sex change process,” Kit revealed.
Max was surprised.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Thank you very much!” he exclaimed with excitement.
Max walked away, and Select and Kit were left alone.
“Select, I want you to know that I appreciate what you’ve done today.”
“Well, it’s nothing…”
Kit approached Select.
“I wanted to talk to you about a project I have in the works, something big, and I need your help.”
“Sure, what is it?”
“We’ve discovered parallel realities, Select.”
Select was surprised.
“How?”
“I’ll explain it to you later, but our world is going to change forever…”
Outside the building, Select and Max were going down in the elevator.
“Select, I have something to show you… At Cadbury Castle, I found this…”
Select looked at the object his young friend had handed him.
When the most famous stories and artifacts prove to be true, an ironic archaeologist with a lot of luck will have to face formidable enemies who want to use them for their plans.
From Excalibur to passing through Sleepy Hollow, the dangers will not end for Select and company.
