Wow! We finished Act I!! This is so awesome for me. I'm really happy!

And here we are... let's chat about the novel! ❤️

When I first wrote the first drafts of the "Complex Love" series, I was in the middle of an academic crisis. I was very drained from my studies and the post-pandemic period; I also got COVID, and my mind was affected by that (aka brain fog). In general, this poor author was having a hard time.

That time, I was writing another novel—a far more complex one, which I'll keep working on, hehe—and I had a vague idea of how fun it would be to write something less demanding, just for fun. So, I sat down, grabbed an old OC of mine, looked at him, and decided, "Hey buddy, I think we can work out." This OC was Mine himself; his very first drafts were a mess, haha!! Then, I found another old OC of mine, Addai. I looked at him and said, "Hey buddy, I think you can work out with Mine."

Their story started pretty plain and tasteless. Addai was, at first, a walking red flag - but very ✨gentlemanly✨. In the second draft, he turned out to be... a quite yellow flag gentleman, but it wasn't what I wanted from him. In the last draft, I gave him more depth and shaping. He was annoying but very cute despite his grumpy behavior.

The second hardship I found was none other than... ENGLISH!! My mother language is Portuguese, which has a different way of writing, shaping, and giving things names and qualities. Portuguese is a complex language, full of rules and grammar compared to English (and I still struggle with it LOL). However, I sat and thought: "Hey, don't worry, we can work it out! Remember what you studied at school and just go for it. Think of it as a joy ride!"

With that, I started writing - in a "God-bless-my-cranky-grammar" mode - and I had lots of fun. Not only that, but along the way I learned how to properly write stories in English, and I think I'm slowly improving!

The third hardship was... myself. I'm very introverted, so putting my work for everybody to read was quite hard. Also, I started struggling with my mental health at that time, so I decided to give it a shot and, who knows, maybe overcome one of my terrors. In the end, I found it quite amazing to share my stories (I even got the courage to enter the Global Comics contest)!

However, when everything seemed to be fine... my mental health deteriorated. With my anxiety out of control, my body perished from weight loss and panic attacks. I lost twelve kilograms (around 26,45 pounds) in less than five months and had weekly panic attack episodes to the point I'd lose my speech and mental cognition. It was terrifying! But I sought help and started on medication and therapy! I'm slowly improving, and discovering new colors in me <3 During this hardship, I found warmth in writing and your guys' support from each reading, liking, and comments. I'm really grateful for every reader and buddy I made along the way, and I do wish the best for everybody! 🥰

Well, Complex Love has another season to come! Stay tuned! Also, the older chapters will gain a better visual (aka remodel~) and I'll finish reviewing them so we can start the next season all fresh and ready!
