"Damn, that's a pretty tempting offer. I might just have to accept it," Null said as he rubbed underneath his chin in deep thought.
Aster felt his body twitch as sharp pain traveled up his leg from where the electricity struck. His face paled when he looked up only to see the barrel of Null's gun aimed at him.
Vomit slithered up Aster's throat as Null rested his index finger against the trigger, eager to pull it. My leg hurts too much for me to dodge it in time. Damn, it! I knew I would regret letting out that psychopath! he screamed inside his mind.
"Starting to see things our way---" Brett said with a smile before he quickly shifted his head to the right, barely having enough time to respond to the fast-moving bullet that flew at him. It grazed his cheek, causing blood to trickle down the corner of his mouth that he licked up.
"Did you seriously think I would accept your fucking offer for a second? You have to be out of your damn mind," Null raged. He aimed his gun at Brett, releasing two more shots in his direction.
"I didn't expect much from a criminal," Brett said smugly. He used the back of his right glove to deflect the two incoming bullets.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but that idiot is my ticket out of here," Null mentioned. He moved backward when Brett lunged at him. The electricity skipped across Null's chest, missing him by less than an inch.
With lightning speed, Null swung his fist straight into Brett's stomach only to grit his teeth when pain shot through his hand when it collided with something metal.
"Got to have something to keep yourself safe when dealing with prisoners," Brett stated with a grin. He countered by slamming his right leg into Null's side, sending him into the side of a wall.
Aster's throat felt dry to the touch. He watched in horror as Null and Brett continued to battle one another. He chewed his lower lip when pain drove into him like a car crash. He rolled to the left when he heard the crack of a whip.
"Oh, goodie! You didn't end up forgetting about me after all," Irene said sweetly with a giggle.
Aster's eyes widened when a sadistic smile painted itself on her face. He sucked in a sharp breath when the whip tore through the flesh of his right shoulder. Damn it, that thing is way too sharp to be an ordinary whip, he thought.
"You idiot! What the fuck are you doing? Get up already; she'll kill you if you don't!" Null shouted at Aster. He used both of his arms to block one of Brett's attacks as he closed the distance between them.
A pained groan left Null's lips when Brett managed to grab onto his wrist. The electricity gradually burned through his sleeve, and it started to lick against his skin, sending pain up his arm.
A look of surprise flashed in Brett's eyes when Null gripped onto his arm above the glove and yanked him forward.
"If your stomach is off limits, then how about your face?!" Null barked. He launched his knee up straight into Brett's face. Brett's head got thrown back from the impact.
Brett stumbled backward. A murderous look formed in his eyes as blood traveled down from both his nostrils. He reached over to his right glove to the part closest to his wrist, and turned a button that let out a loud beep.
A chuckle escaped Null's throat. "Powering up because you know you can't win this fight?" he mocked. He ducked down barely in time when Brett extended his hand out toward him, sending a bright stream of electricity through the air that scorched the wall it collided into.
Why the hell is he doing a lot better than I am? Aster thought as he struggled to dodge her strikes. His right shoulder and left leg were already bleeding from where the whip managed to touch his skin.
Aster ground his teeth in frustration when he thought back to how Null's words had managed to snap him out of his daze and move just in time before he lost one of his hands.
Aster reached up and aimed the gun he was holding at her and pulled the trigger, releasing multiple shots in her direction.
"Please! You're going to have to try better than that if you want to hit me," Irene grinned. She pulled her hand back, swirling her whip around herself in a dizzying dance. In the process, she sliced through the bullets easily as if they were mere pieces of paper.
This gun is completely useless against her. What the hell am I going to do now? Null probably can't hold off Brett forever. Damn it, why can't I think of anything good, Aster thought as he clenched his jaw.
A crazy idea flooded into Aster's mind as he observed her attacks more. Maybe this gun isn't useless against her, Aster thought. He clenched its handle as he bolted toward her.
"What? You think if you run toward me, you'll be safe?" Irene mocked. She flung her whip forward. It moved through the air easily and grazed Aster's left cheek.
"Oh, I know that won't work," Aster replied, causing her to furrow her eyebrows in confusion the second he unloaded the gun. "I bet you can't hit them all at once," he roared as he threw the gun and all the bullets toward her.
Irene bit her lower lip. She swung her whip around, slicing the heavy gun to pieces first before she broke all the slow-moving bullets.
Bang!
Irene's eyes went wide, and a pained yelp left her when a bullet sank into her shoulder.
"You have some nerve shooting, my girlfriend!" Brett barked before punching Null right in the jaw.
Null saw the room spin for a second before he looked back over at Brett. He spit some blood onto the floor after biting his tongue from the hit. "Too bad I couldn't hit her again," he remarked with a crazed look in his eyes.
"Brett, look out, he's heading for you!" Irene shouted as Aster changed direction and ran toward her precious boyfriend. She swung her whip upward, carving into the back of Aster, but he refused to back down.
Brett didn't have enough time to react before a shoe kicked right into his left leg. He didn't get the chance to grip Aster's head before a gasp escaped his throat when Null shoved him forward, causing him to stumble over Aster's body.
Brett twisted his body and turned around after landing on the ground. He sent a wave of electricity toward Aster and Null that would be impossible to dodge.
"You have to be kidding me!" Aster yelled. He saw his life flashing before him as the electricity raced toward him. He could tell that once that attack hit them, it would fry their brains for sure.
"See? I wasn't lying when I said someone stupid like you wouldn't make it far without me," Null declared. He jammed one of the bullets purposely in the chamber of the gun before tossing it toward Brett's attack.
Aster shielded his face with his arm when the gun ignited. It created a wall of fire that separated him and Null from the two prison guards.
"What are you in awe or something? Let's get moving. I rather not give them a chance to try to do something to get through those flames," Null brought up. He was about to run before he paused when Aster struggled to get back up on his feet.
Null let out an annoyed sigh. "You certainly are a pain in the ass. Don't expect for me to carry you the whole way," he said. He kneeled down and used his arm to help support Aster.
Aster's eyebrow twitched in irritation. "I didn't ask for your help, and if it wasn't for me, Brett probably would've toasted you!" he complained, only causing Null to chuckle.
"Says the guy who was practically useless. You should be thanking me for saving your life. So, where is it?" Null mentioned as he held his other hand up to his ear. When he heard Aster grumble, he smirked. "Sorry, what was that?"
"Thank you, damn it!" Aster hissed. He hated to admit it, but if Null hadn't been with him, he likely would've been dead right now. He also saved them both from being roasted from Brett's attack.

"Does your face hurt at all? And your nose is bleeding," Irene said as she reached over to wipe the blood from under his nose.
Brett reached up and took hold of her wrist. He moved her hand from his nose and against his cheek as he nestled into it. "Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry about me. I'm more concerned about you; how's your shoulder?"
"Fine, but I'm disappointed those damn prisoners got away from us," Irene complained with a pout on her lips.
A wicked smile formed on Brett's lips. "Don't be too upset; this just means we get to take a little trip to the Warden and explain everything. We'll get extra points, and he'll probably send us home early. Then we can enjoy our time together uninterrupted," he whispered in her ear as he leaned closer.
"Hah. I almost forgot the Warden must be interested in why his paradise is going to hell right now. I wonder how long those prisoners will last for then?" Irene said with a devilish smile.
