Alec
He stared off into the sky as dawn began, Eveline hated the morning. So much so that the only time that he ever watched the sunrise with her, was when he forcibly picked her up and carried her out of her bed to the window to see it. Eve had complained all the while, but despite her groggy, brown eyes, he could tell that she found the sight of the morning break to be beautiful.
Her conclusion was that they should simply watch the sunset together from then on instead. That way she could have a more adequate amount of sleep. Alec had agreed and from that day forward they tried to make sure to watch every sunset together. They never missed a day.
Alec had actually managed to get a photo of every single sunset that they watched. He had them printed and put them into a photo album with notes of what happened each day. It was her twenty-fourth birthday gift. He added to it every single day after. Even after she was gone, he still did it.
Alec felt the cushion under him shift slightly and turned to look. One of the cats had hopped up onto the seat and began purring when he looked at her. She quickly snuggled up in his lap and Alec took a sip of his coffee as he scrolled on his phone.
His employees had been super graceful about his work load after Eve’s death. Despite him completing the work that he did have, his assistants still refused to send him any other projects. Deeming to simply take on extra work so that he could grieve in peace.
Alec felt at that moment that he didn’t deserve the people that were in his life. After all, they were all in his life because of Eveline. And now that she was gone, he felt guilty that he could enjoy the things that she would never have again. The company of her friends, the money from her companies that her father gave her, the mansion that she loved, the cats that she adopted, all of the items that she collected, and even the happiness that she had given him.
Alec sat there, contemplating if he should simply give up his life rather than suffer while living without the love of his life. It was at this moment that the doorbell rang. Alec slowly got to his feet and opened the door.
One of his assistants and friends stood on the other side, a sad smile on her face.
“Hello, Alec.” Terra spoke, her wide green eyes had remnants of tears resting in them. She held a small wooden box in her hands with “Eva” painted in pink on the lid.
