It's the evening and after doing some window shopping I enter a pastry shop. I had passed by it several times while looking for items I would need on my one day extermination trip. Now that I had finished the preparations, it was time to reward myself with something sweet.
There weren’t many customers inside the store, lucky me. It was a cute little store and smelled heavenly. It was a mixture of fragrant flowers and sweet candy. I couldn’t wait to get my well deserved sweets.
I looked around and there were various pastries and goods on display. They all looked adorable and mouth watering. It was a shame they were about to end up in my stomach in a few minutes. I picked up a few fruity tarts, not paying attention to my surroundings.
Thump!
I had managed to bump into someone and lost balance of the small tray in my hand. Before it could meet its demise on the floor, a pair of delicate and slender hands got a hold of the tray and myself as I was about to slip.
Well done stupid! I curse to myself as I get on my feet and bow my head to apologize to the stranger I bumped into. They will definitely get mad at me, my luck.
“It’s alright, miss,” his gentle voice assured. “Are you okay?”
I raise my head to face the gentleman before me and I am sure my heart stopped beating for a few seconds. Before me stood the most handsome man I had ever seen in my twenty-five years of life. He had long golden blond hair braided neatly hanging over his shoulder and mesmerizing lime green eyes. No, not green, but turquoise. His lips were thin and pink, and jaw sharp. His ears were pointed and a single earring dangled from his left ear, a turquoise gem adoring the accessory just like his eyes.
“Is there anything on my face, miss?” he asked me, which brought me back to reality.
Damnit, it happened again. I embarrassed myself again and I apologized for my crude behavior.
“I apologize,” I say sincerely. “I’ve inconvenienced you sir, how can I repay you?”
“It’s alright, as long as you are well”
His damn smile, it was enough to make any woman melt.
A crowd had gathered before I could register and I was glad the bangs of my hair were covering part of my face. I take the tray from the gentlemans hands and rush towards the shopkeeper and pay for my treats and run away before the man could stop me.
I failed to realize that I had dropped my precious ring until I had gotten back at the inn.
