An hour had passed when Noah once again turned his head to check on Allie, who lay sound asleep, leaning against the side of the wagon. He was not at ease however, not only were they in a forest, in the distance, large dark clouds would begin to form for the past few minutes.
A spring storm was beginning to brew.
Noah was not an idiot, or so he thought, he had faced many thunderstorms before, and in the winter, snow and ice. However, he could recall an awful storm he experienced two years before. Large hail stones had fallen from the sky, and the wind blew with a vicious nature.
Now, he could begin to see the tops of trees blowing in the wind as the clouds began to close in. This did not seem like any normal spring thunder storm, the clouds were tall and pulled out of the sides, it would seem as though they made a perfectly round shape. Although it was rare for the island, Noah had heard tales from other merchants of clouds even touching the ground in great wind, something they would call a ‘twister’.
Noah pulled to a halt with three clicks of his tongue, confusing Sara as she grew anxious. He pulled out his map from beside him under the seating.
There is a cave nearby…
He knew of this cave as he frequently used it to sleep in on cold winters, there weren’t many bears in this area, making it a perfect resting spot. However, he had not traveled this way in a few months, the trees had grown differently.
He looked around and spotted a few smaller trails, before speaking: “Ms. Allie?” Calming, hoping not to startle her as he saw lightning in the distance, not yet close enough to create overly loud sounds of thunder.
