The blonde boy widened his eyes as he looked at Damien in disbelief.
"I never knew that you could be very gentle towards a person, Damien. You are always so cold and always isolated yourself from us and even to this wicken woman in the past, what could change that?" The blonde boy asked with raised brows as he looked down at Damien.
I sighed and coldly looked at the blonde boy.
Forget it. It seemed that this blonde guy wouldn't really get down to explaining this bizarre situation.
Walking towards my room, I stopped as I turned my head, looking at the blonde guy with a cold face and even colder when I caught a glimpse of the man in the wheelchair also looking over at me.
"I don't know your name, scaredy cat."
The blonde guy automatically becomes angry after being called that way.
"I am not a scaredy cat and just so you know, my name is Alex if you really don't know" he huffed, quite offended that I called him a scaredy cat probably.
I simply shrugged off his words, entering my room and closing the door behind me. I settled in.
That man in the wheelchair, is really giving me the feeling that I had when I first wanted to be with my boyfriend---ex boyfriend in the past. There is no way that I had fallen in love at first sigh with a man sitting on a wheelchair, right?
I sighed. This day really was too much for me to handle. I need to rest; maybe tomorrow I will open my eyes. This is all a dream I have in order to escape the reality I am in.
Closing my eyes, I drifted to sleep in seconds.
I opened my eyes feeling my mouth dry and sore.
Thirsty.
I fought with the idea of wanting to just sleep my thirstyness off as I dragged my heavy body out of bed, went out of my room, and walked towards the kitchen of my apartment.
In the dimly lit kitchen, the silence of the night was shattered as I tiptoed down the stairs to quench my thirst. The soft glow of the refrigerator's light illuminated my pale face, that I suddenly breathed in to let out a cold air.
As I reached for a glass and filled it with water, I caught a glimpse of a menacing figure emerging from the shadows—a silhouette of a man whose eyes reflected a sinister intent. The air grew heavy with tension as the man suddenly cornered me.
I remained calm as ever as I slowly put down the glass on the table.
Not even turning my head to look at the man, I started to ask, "Who are you?"
"Who?" the man voice, though low and controlled, carried a chilling edge. "Who am I? You don't know who I am?"
Maintaining my icy composure which can be comparable to his icy composure, I met his gaze with an unwavering stare. "I won't ask you if I already know who you are."
I saw his lips curling up in a cold arc after my words fell. "Then remember me by this."
He suddenly raised his hand and landed near me, which I dodged on the spot after being taken aback by.
I furrowed my brows but still concentrated into this confrontation that I suddenly let myself in.
If I knew that this would happen, I would have just let my instinct be wanting to sleep rather than come here and exhaust myself for fighting an intruder!
Our exchange was punctuated by the low hum of the refrigerator, creating an eerie backdrop to the confrontation.
Despite my being physically overpowered, I refused to show any fear. In the stillness of the kitchen, I unfolded a series of calculated movements, revealing a proficiency in self-defense that this strange guy had underestimated.
Who is this guy to underestimate me? I am one of the kids who received a black belt in the past!
The atmosphere thickened as the man looked at me in surprise after he looked at me dodging his deadly hand.
Why its a deadly hand? The form of this guy hand when playfully wanting to smack me have a lot of force into it, if I don't dodge in time, I might collapse on the spot.
Who is stupid enough to not dodge this attack?
And also, this might only be a guess, but I am feeling like this guy move and act is exactly like those mafias out there. It can't be... right?
"You... How do you know self-defense?" he asked, surprised. But then his surprise came and went as he suddenly became serious and charged at me in strong strides, attacking nonstop.
I responded to his attack silently, like a lethal dance. My body moved with precision, evading the man's attempts to grasp my body. I countered his attacks with swift strikes, drawing on the self-defense training I had acquired over the years I joined Judo since I was a kid.
But it seemed it is still not enough in order for me to be on confrontation with this strange man.
My movements were all calculated, a testament to my determination to break free from the suffocating grasp of this man that had spun around me after a moment of my blunder in moves.
I wanted to struggle more from this grasp when suddenly my acupunture was hit and my eyes turned black, losing consciousness.
But before I lost my consciousness, I heard the intruder say, "Sleep tight, intruder."
Intruder?! What intruder?! He is clearly the one who is an intruder!
My cursing was not finished when, finally, the land of darkness visited my being, resulting in me going to sleep once again.
"..."
I am going to kill that guy once I recover once again.
The next morning, the soft rays of sunlight filtering through my curtains woke me up. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, I couldn't shake the feeling that yesterday's encounters were just a strange dream.
However, as I got ready to face the day normally once again, Alex silly face appeared before me.
"Why are you still here?"I asked subconciously.
"What? You are not thinking that all that happened yesterday was just a dream for you, right? he smirked as he said those words.
"..."
Why...?
Just why?
Will I really live my life with seven husbands?
No---I am going to die.
No way....
I looked up ahead dazedly, my gaze unfocused.
Alex looked at me, feeling concerned about why I was acting like an idiot.
No, that is strange. He should not be concerned; he should look at me with a teasing expression like he always does, like yesterday, so... This is all a prank?
"It's a prank, right? This is all a prank for me from all of you? I asked silently, my gaze cold but still deep down in my heart. I am hoping a little bit that these things I am experiencing are all a prank.
Alex knitted his brows after I said those words.
"Don't worry wicked woman, you won't have husbands anymore after everyone divorce you, including me and the wheelchair guy"Alex said ruthlessly.
My eyes lit up after I heard that, but then I deflated like a ball again.
"Hey, I encountered a strange man yesterday, he attacked me out of nowhere when I went down to get water to quench my thirst. Is he one of my husbands too? One of my husbands with a mental problem?" I asked lowly.
Alex widened his eyes, as if surprised by what I said. When he was about to open his mouth to answer my question probably, a voice behind him interuppted him.
"I have a question too..." the strange man that I encountered yesterday appeared. I sat up straight as I looked at him coldly. His gaze was even more colder as he scruitinized my whole body with his deep dark eyes.
"Are you really Kate, that woman, or her imposter?" he asked, but I felt like his words were more like a statement.
The atmosphere sorrounding us suddenly become colder after his words fell.
I looked at him silently, eye flickering with mouth pursed.
"What do you mean?" I furrowed my brows at him.
What is this guy babbling about?
The tall man with dark eyes only glanced at me lightly, not leaving the room nor answering my question.
I leaned in slightly towards the headboard as I also looked at him coldly.
You want to play this game? Then let's play this game.
Let's see who will be the first one to answer questions.
