"He does not want to meet you," Alex explained, still wearing a flickering expression on his face.
I looked at him, even more confused. "Why?"
"Simple," the charming light-purple-haired guy smiled slightly but looked at me with eyes full of coldness. "He hates being in the same space as you again after what happened back then," he continued.
Staring seriously at the purple-haired guy, I glanced at Alex once again and asked, "What happened back then between me and that other husband?"
I asked in the nicest tone possible, expecting a polite response. However, Alex frowned and scowled at me, saying, "And why are you asking me what happened back then between you and Edward?"
"Because I thought you were the guy with a rational mind among them, but it seems I am having a misunderstanding here," I said coldly with a sneer, snapping out and having enough of this attitude I don't really deserve. Well, at least for me, I don't deserve this kind of situation.
"Anyway, it seems I will not be able to have a good talk with all of you, so let's start the discussion of divorce first," I started to say as I tilted my head, looking at each of these 'husbands' in front of me with cold eyes. Well, except for when it landed right onto Damien figure, sitting there well-behaved.
"...."
I suddenly had a guilty conscience, treating them all coldly when two of them looked at me with soft looks I could not shake away even if I wanted to.
Taking a deep breath, I let all of those thoughts behind as I once again faced them expressionlessly.
"Introduce your name first and your job so I will know which one is who," I said, crossing my arms, looking at the newcomers inside the apartment.
The first one to enter the apartment was the first to introduce himself. He nodded towards me and said, "I'm Xander, CEO of one of the wealthiest markets in the East and West. Pleasure to meet you. We have heard about the condition you are in right now, so don't worry about us."
I went silent, hearing the arrogance in this guy's tone while introducing himself. But I did not dwell on it longer as another husband of mine introduced himself in an extremely quiet tone.
The one wearing gold-rimmed glasses and looking at me with an unspeakable gaze was the second one to introduce himself in a quiet and cold tone, "Ethan. Scientist."
"<...>" I went silent hearing such a short response, but still, looking closely at this guy's figure, it's not that surprising to get a response like that.
The third one to respond was the one I thought was like the star. I received a charming smile from him, but I could never shake off the feeling that this guy hated me to the bones.
"I'm Logan, sweetheart. My job is, uhm... a film director?" he paused as he laughed, "Well, I have multiple jobs, to be exact, in the entertainment industry," he continued with a cheerful voice.
I don't know why, but I am feeling that this is all a facade that this guy created in front of me.
This act truly makes me uncomfortable.
As I raised my brows and looked at this Logan guy in the eyes, I asked once again, "What other jobs did you have?"
Logan's lips pursed as he pretended to fall into deep thought, holding his cheeks. He tilted his head to look at me once again, "Well, I'm a writer, a director, and an actor so... yeah, this guy here got a lot of jobs!"
He said, once again in a tone full of cheers.
"..."
I was silent.
So that's why I am uncomfortable with this cheerful act.
Because it was really an act created by this person.
Another person to hate since the act truly resembles my ex-boyfriend and best friend.
I slightly looked on the ground, but I know without anyone telling me that our surroundings dropped several degrees.
I took a deep breath as I finally composed myself, looking at every guy in front of me. My usual business-like expression was used once again in a lifetime on my face.
"My name is Kate Luther, a student body council president at school and just like what you have heard, I'm still a student, so I don't have any work. But I am looking for someone to support me for life without any judgment, of course, since I planned on just staying at home and spending my husband's money after I came into this strange world here, and certainly, you can't be that husband I imagined based on your attitudes alone. So... I will be divorcing each of you now. Do you agree?" I said without taking a deep breath in each word said.
When I finished saying what I wanted to say, I finally took a deep breath, but my expressionless face still did not faze as I continued looking at them, waiting for their answer.
"Of course, I agree! But I still can't divorce you since I'm sure the old man will kick my butt once again and send me to you once again," Alex's frickly expression depleted after he said the last words.
"Which I will not accept you again since I'll be bringing my motto from my original world."
I paused before emphasizing each word, "This will be my motto, 'if you leave, you leave, you can't come back. Do I make myself clear? If you divorce me today, I assure you that if ever we meet on the street, I will treat you like how I treat strangers."
"Are you threatening us right now, hon?" Logan's cheery voice automatically scrunched up my brows, but then my face went to normal once again.
"If you think of it as a threat, then I don't have any say on it, don't I?" I fired another question back.
Logan's cheerful face changed for just a second, but it still did not escape my focused gaze.
So he can't really keep on a cheerful face forever.
I tilted my head as I sighed, crossing my arms. I continued to say once again, "I'm keeping the apartment even if you divorce me, of course, so are you up or not?"
I wet my lower lip as I waited for the five people, as I already excluded Alex who cannot divorce me because of his so-called inheritance, to answer.
After waiting for a moment, Ethan, my scientist husband, stood up.
Well...
It's not hard to think that Ethan will be the first one to get his chance on divorcing me since scientists are usually introverts and they like to lock up themselves in their lab. Divorcing himself from his wife from the outside world would be very convenient for him since he won't be coming back again and again to this apartment just to check on his wife.
Well, even though he does not need to check on me if he continued being my husband.
I waited for Ethan's agreement on my terms without any expression and feelings, but what comes from his mouth shocked me instead.
"I don't want to divorce you," his cold but aggrieved tone echoed through my ears.
Huh?
What did he say?
