I opened my eyes immediately after I felt my wrist sting.
As I held the man wearing a white coat tightly as I saw him injecting something into me, I glared at him. "What are you doing to me?" I growled.
The doctor, seemingly not bothered at all by my waking up so suddenly and with an intense glare directed at him at that, calmly responded, "This injection is only a saline drip; you don't need to worry that I will be doing some crazy things to your body. You fainted earlier, and we need to make sure you're properly hydrated since it seems that you are perfectly dehydrated. I don't want Damien and Alex killing me just because I touched you."
I furrowed my brows. "Do Kate—I mean, do I know you?" I asked, looking at him with flickering eyes.
I released my grip on his coat, my mind slowly looking at my surroundings. I am still on a hospital bed, but something seemed to change.
The atmosphere in the room, the style of the hospital room, and the style of this doctor coat...
Everything seemed off when I woke up.
Something... Something is amiss...
"Is there someone there for me?" I asked once again, but it seemed I was demanding the doctor answer since my voice is sharper than I intended it to be. The doctor took a step back, clearly taken aback by my sudden aggression.
"Your friends? They're waiting outside. You had quite a scare, you know," the doctor explained, gesturing towards the closed door.
Friends?
Is this doctor referring to Drew and Jessica?
Then friends my foot, I will never ever put them into my category of 'friends' after what they have done to me.
I snapped out of my own thoughts as I looked at the doctor in front of me and nodded, feeling a mixture of relief and frustration all of a sudden.
Why?
As I got up from the hospital bed, the doctor in front of me tried to stop me, like all other doctors would do if they ever encountered a patient that was as hardheaded as myself.
"...."
I seemed to have admitted that I am a stubborn person.
"..."
I went silent once again.
"Don't move just yet; the saline drip is freshly injected into you; if you keep on moving, some of the saline drip will be leaking out of the drip. So please behave."
I stopped as I unconsciously sat on the hospital bed, quite behaved.
I don't know why, but it seemed like 'Kate' knew this doctor.
I always have an unconscious feeling that no matter what, I should behave in front of this doctor or else I will suffer some serious consequences, and I certainly don't know what those consequences are.
Except that I got the feeling that the consequences would be something dark and gory, judging by this guy's identity and his eyes full of mysterious thoughts alone.
"...."
As I remained motionless on the hospital bed, I spotted the doctor in my peripheral vision, smiling slightly at my behavior.
I furrowed my brows a little bit at his reaction.
Well, it is not this doctor's fault for having a reaction like that, since it is also my fault that the doctor has such a reaction on his face.
The reflexes of the original owner really die hard.
As the doctor in front of me arranged his white coat, he lightly smiled at me as he said, "I go get your friends; just behave here."
I nodded my head at him as I looked at him stepping out of the room.
As I laid myself on the hospital bed, I turned my head at the closed door that was now opened by the doctor. At the back of the doctor, I spotted Damien sitting in his wheelchair, a concerned expression plastered on his face. Alex was leaning against the wall, looking annoyed and impatient as ever.
It seemed I was really back here, where I have seven husbands once again.
I am back.
As I sat up, my vision was much wider, as I could finally see Alex, whom I thought was not present. Alex was leaning against the wall, looking annoyed and impatient as ever.
Oh, that's great!
It seemed that my fainting and almost going back to my original world didn't really mean that much to him.
Well, my heart hurt a bit, but it certainly is not my heart having a heartache because of this realization.
"Finally awake, huh? Did you know you were in a coma for almost 7 hours straight?" Alex remarked, his tone laced with irritation.
7 hours?
Oh well, the important thing is that I am finally awake after that coma.
My coma passed.
So, ignoring his comment, I rushed towards Damien. Well, after I was stopped by the doctor's hands once again, I beckoned to Damien to come to me faster.
Damien looked at me helplessly as he looked at Alex in the eyes. Alex, admitting his defeat, pushed his wheelchair as they both entered the hospital room I was confiding in.
"What the hell happened a while ago?" I questioned Damien, but my question was intended for both Damien and Alex to answer, since both of them are the ones that accompanied me to the mall.
"After you collapsed right in front of us, Alex and I rushed you to the hospital after calling in a cab. The doctors suspected that you might have a sudden drop in blood pressure, but they were still running tests to determine what was really the cause of your coma for 7 hours straight throughout the day," Damien explained while Alex only rolled his eyes as he sat comfortably on one of the sofas inside this hospital room.
I furrowed my brows as I remembered some things before I completely lost consciousness.
"That sales clerk! That sales clerk injected something into me!" I shouted, but then got shocked at myself for being so worked up.
Damien and Alex both creased their brows after they heard what I said.
"What sales clerk? Who is that?" Damien asked as he approached me.
His tone was so cold that I shivered involuntarily. I looked them in the eyes and then said word by word, describing the sales clerk who was so weird and strange when being with me.
"Okay" was the only response that Damien gave.
I tilted my head.
Alex, who was sitting on the sofa not far away, pointed at the doctor after he made eye contact with me.
"That is your last husband whom you did not meet at all in our little meeting; say hi." As Alex said those words, he beckoned at the doctor, who already had a black face.
I looked at the doctor up and down before looking at Alex once again.
"Are you sure he is one of my husbands?" I asked once again, wanting to confirm.
Alex only nodded his head.
The doctor at my side sighed as he let out a sound: "Hi, my name is Edward Jeremiah. Nice to meet you."
I blinked.
What is this?
Am I in a Twilight movie?
Oh well...
Let's answer this guy first.
"Do you also want to divorce me?"
"...."
I changed my mind...
I don't want to answer this guy; let us ask a question first before it's too late.
Edward smiled at me as he slowly nodded but then shook his head.
"No and yes," he answered, quite confusing my head to the core.
"And what do you mean by that?" I asked once again, frowning hard as this new guy is starting to irritate me like how Alex always make me frustrated.
He laughed. "You will know."
"...."
