"Mmmm." Jake held his head as he lay in his bed. He felt like his whole body was drained of power. Especially his head which seemed to be thumping hard. Opening his eyes, he glanced at the clock and realized it was still a few hours till he had to wake up. However, no matter what he did, he could not go back to sleep. Finally, after thirty minutes, he reluctantly sat up.
When he did, however, he had a strange reaction. Out of nowhere, a book had been in his hands. This whole time he had been grabbing it and not even realized. Rubbing his eyes, he took a closer look at the book. It had a brown leather cover with rope bindings tightening it all up, making it look like it came from a couple hundred years ago.
Examining it, he was very confused, he didn't remember having such a book let alone holding it when he went to bed. The cover didn't say anything. Feeling an itch, he went to scratch his jewels when suddenly he froze. He went to touch again and felt nothing. His face went pale as he threw the covers off and opened his pants up. Within his gaze was nothing.
Realistically he should've seen his little brother and two jewels but in his sight, there was nothing but barren land. He knew he didn't have the greatest brother but this? How would it disappear? He opened his legs and started feeling everywhere but it was no use. His balls had disappeared! He felt like screaming, but realizing it was nighttime, he began to feel his stomach churn. Grabbing the trash can beside him, he threw up his dinner from last night.
I mean who wouldn't? His jewels had disappeared, it was the same as taking away his identity as a man! As he felt sick to his stomach, he noticed the book had appeared right beside him again. He swore that he had thrown it off the bed. Slowly picking it up, he finally realized there were only a couple of pages within. He seemed inexplicably drawn to it as if forcing himself to distract from the incident at hand. He opened up the first page and saw that it was a table of contents. "Jake Coff." When he read the first thing, his expression grew ugly. How did this book know his name?
He read more of the titles and became even more confused, "Skills, quests, shop, relationships, Info, LOCKED, LOCKED, LOCKED, etc." Looking at this, his mind became even more confused. He had never been a writer, so of course he didn't write this himself. He looked around his room and at the window and was relieved it was closed. But just to be sure he noted to make sure it was looked in case a stalker came in.
Finally, after a long time, he opened the first page. It was the page titled [Jake Coff]. Reading it, he had a blank expression.
<Name: Jake Coff
Strength: 2
Dexterity: 1
Constitution: 2
Intelligence: 3
Wisdom: 1
Charisma: 1
Skills: Omniscient Eye>
Looking at the first page Jake's stomach started to churn again. What was this? A document on himself? What kind of knowledge would someone need to document stats like this? Also, why was his stats so low? And what was up with this skill?
He remembered that the next page on the table of contents was titled Skills so he flipped to the next page. On it, he indeed found what he was looking for.
<Active Skill: Omniscient Eye
Description: A skill that can enable the user to summon a third invisible eye that can be disconnected from the body.
Cost: Your mental strength will drain when using the skill.>
Looking at this description Jake had many thoughts. Skills? A third eye? Will it grow from his forehead like some monster? He didn't think too much about it as he put it off as some kind of weird stalker dream.
Turning the page, he read what was next.
<Daily Quest: Run!
Description: Run five miles by the end of the day!
Miles Ran: 0 / 5
Reward: Wheel Ticket>
Seeing the quest, Jake gnashed his teeth. Whoever made the book was blind to his physical condition! Looking at his flabby sides and wide legs, he cursed the stalker. However, on second thought, he quite enjoyed that the stalker thought he could do it. On the other hand, it could be an insult and telling him to work out. Shaking his head he flipped the page again.
<Monthly Quest: Intro Quest
Description: With your new power, you have to learn all of the quirks that come with it.
Gain Skills: 1 / 8
Spin the Wheel: 0 / 15
Complete All Daily Quests: 0 / 30
Reward: A new page unlocked>
Looking at the quest, Jake frowned. It seemed that the wheel could be connected to the previous quest that he saw. As for what it does, he has no idea. For skills, he was a little helpless, let alone that weird eye skill, what other skills could he get? Not thinking about it, he flipped the page.
<Shop SP: 0
Wheel Spin: 1 Wheel Ticket or 500 Shop Points (SP)>
Looking at the only item, Jake felt it was a little lackluster. And what were these shopping points? Remembering what the next page was, he gulped. This next page was a stalker really scary part.
<Relationships
June Coff (Mother): 8 [Would go into debt for you]
Fred Coff (Father): 8 [Would go into debt for you]
To add more, write their first and last name and think about their face. You must talk to them within 24 hours for it to be registered.>
Looking at his parents, Jake felt warm. He didn't know what the numbers went up to, but to see his parents were on equal terms in love for him, he couldn't help but get stuffed up. Thinking for a second, he grabbed a pen and wrote down a name. Selina Rental. This would also push him to talk to her again today. He was indeed thankful though that the stalker didn't put anyone else, he would've been truly frightened. Turning the page, he raised an eyebrow.
<Information Page
You can write down a question, and the question will be answered and added to your book. 0 / 5 remaining.>
Looking at this page, he felt confused. Was the stalker gonna come in and answer the question themselves? Since he was already this far he might as well try it.
Who created this book?
Writing down his question, he looked for a moment before sighing in disappointment. Of course, it wouldn't work-. Gazing at the book his eyes widened. The previous empty page behind the information page glowed a bright yellow before fading. Looking down, he turned to the page and saw an answer.
<This book is a product of your heart and will. Thus the answer is you.>
Looking at the answer Jake gulped hard. 'My heart and will? What could that mean?' He looked at the page with unexplained emotions. He checked in his pants and sure enough, his jewels were still gone. Taking a deep breath, he wrote another question, 'How do I get rich?' Of course, since this book seemed to know everything, this was the only responsible question to ask!
Another page appeared at the back of the book and Jake flipped to it.
<As long as you use your powers to the best of your ability, nothing will be out of reach for you.>
Jake rolled his eyes. He knew if this book claimed to be as good as it was, he could get whatever he wanted, but he wanted something more immediate.
'What happened to my balls?'
If a man didn't ask this question, would he still be a man? Although it seemed like he had wasted all of his questions so far he had found out a few things. Especially with this next answer.
<The book is a manifestation of your will. However, it needed a vessel to materialize it, so it used your jewels to make a physical manifestation of itself.>
Reading this, Jake cursed, "THIS BOOK IS MY BALLS!" Throwing it on the ground, he looked at it with anger. However, realizing what he had just done, he was horrified. He picked it up and checked all sides to make sure nothing was broken. Seeing it was still fine, he sighed in relief.
To think the power price was my balls… I would have objected if I'd known! Jake felt like crying. He felt the need to ask more questions, but he heard a knock at his door.
"Jake, it's a school day, how can you be up so early playing video games!" He heard his father's voice from the door and felt embarrassed. Not only the fact that he had woken up his parents but also the fact his parents automatically assumed he was cursing his enemies in video games.
"Sorry, I'm getting ready for school anyway." Looking at the clock, it read 5:30. Since he was already up anyway, Jake decided to get ready. Throwing the book to the side, he went up to go to the shower. Getting in, he looked down and had never felt so much joy. His balls were back! Just as small as before too!
