"Oh my gosh! I never thought I'd see you again!" Although he couldn't kiss them, he threw a little shower celebration to welcome them back home. 'I knew I was just hallucinating earlier. How could I gain powers? Let alone lose my balls?' Thinking about the book, he felt something lightly fall on his hands.
Looking down, he saw the familiar book. And looking further down, he saw his balls had disappeared again! He screamed, realizing that maybe the book was indeed not a figment of his imagination. Closing his eyes, he just wished to have his balls back. Feeling nothing in his hand, he looked down again and saw that things had turned back to normal.
Trying something, he summoned the book again, and then unsummoned it. It was as he feared, he truly had books for balls!
Getting out of the shower, the realization that the book could be more legitimate than a stalker's journal made his face light up. Powers? Skills? It started to dawn on Jake that what he had was much bigger than what he could imagine.
Finally dressed and cooking breakfast, he glanced at the book again. He turned to the page about his skill and read it again. Remembering his games and movies he's watched he thought of the skill. In his head, he thought of the name but nothing happened. He didn't give up as he gritted his teeth and spoke it out loud with his hands out. Luckily his parents were not completely up yet and in the kitchen or he would be thoroughly embarrassed.
He was also thankful that it was not such a cringey thing. He tried touching the skill page, he tried drawing it on one of the empty pages. He tried a lot of things and it all failed. 'Should I ask the book again?' He felt regretful if he wasted a question on a simple thing like activating a skill.
As he ate he thought about how cool it would be to have an eye on his forehead. As he daydreamed, he felt something sting his head. Afterward, he felt dizzy. Opening his eyes, he looked forward. Instead of his basic vision, he felt he could see a little higher than usual, making his range of vision much greater. Looking around, he was completely shocked. 'Did I just open my third eye?'
Jake rushed to the bathroom, he looked in the mirror. On his forehead was a third horizontal eye. It blinked just like the rest of his eyes, but it was transparent. Gritting his teeth, he went out and touched it. It felt solid, but if he thought about it, his finger could go right through. When he saw this he felt a little sick again. Not wanting to throw up his breakfast, he stopped immediately. Hearing something out the door he walked out. His mother yawned as she waited for him to finish.
"Mom, do I have something on my forehead?" Although it said invisible eye, he had to confirm just to be sure. "Hmm? I don't see anything. His mother looked tired but she seemed to not see the eye. Grinning, he walked to the living room. Although he was having a hard time adjusting, he felt that his vision with this new eye was much better than his old eyes. Taking off his glasses, showed that this new eye must have 20/20 vision.
The only thing worrying him was that the mental strain seemed to take effect subtly. It wasn't too strenuous but it felt like someone was lightly crushing his head. Thinking about the eye disappearing, he got rid of it. And with it, the pressure went away. Jake sweated a little as he thought about that pain lasting all day.
Looking at the time, Jake said goodbye to his parents. They looked confused and glanced at the clock and it was only a little past 6. His school didn't start till 8.
"Why are you leaving so early?" His dad who was making his coffee looked back confused. "Jake stopped and laughed awkwardly, "I'm gonna try to walk to school today." Hearing this, his dad was a little flustered but nodded anyway. "Ok, be careful out there, the sun still rising." Jake nodded as he left.
Looking at his book, he glanced at the daily quest. It was only five miles, couldn't he run that easily? That was a little bit less than to get to school, an hour and a half will definitely be enough time!
…
An hour later.
"Holy crap I'm dead!" Jake felt sick for the fourth time today as he held his legs for a breather. Although it had been over 5 years since he did any athletics he thought he could at least be at school by the time it started. However, looking at his phone and realizing he had two miles left made him feel dead.
All he could do was walk and conserve energy. He had already resigned himself for being late. Anyway, why would it matter, he already completed his exams anyway. These last four days were for fun anyway.
The walk was indeed long but it gave Jake time to think about this new power. It wasn't some stalker's journal but a manifestation of his will, that used his balls as a vessel and would answer any question while also giving him a third invisible eye. Wasn't this just too crazy?
His mind was still ecstatic at the thought of the situation. He was still confused about it all, but it didn't hide his amazement. "I can do all kinds of things! Perhaps I can get stronger and finally pick up Selina!" Pumping his fists high he cheered. Looking around though he was embarrassed as right beside him was a park full of old grannies doing yoga. When they saw him put his fist in the air they thought he was trying to join in.
"Come join us, darling!" "We got room for everyone!" "We can see your excitement, no need to run!"
The previously tired Jake used all of his energy to run as fast as he could from the yoga grandmas trying to join the yoga class.
