"Caleb, how's it been!" Looking at the guy in front of him Jake sighed. Caleb was someone he became friends with in his lacrosse days, although Jake left, Caleb was still on it to this day. He wasn't the best, probably because of all the games he played but he was still considered decent.
"Oh Jake, what's up." Caleb didn't even look up from his phone as he spoke. "Talking to that girlfriend of yours?" Caleb finally looked up when he heard Jake ask, "How could you tell?" Caleb looked confused as he was hiding his phone a little from people, and Jake was right in front of him.
"Your face was stupid, that's how." Although Jake said this, he saw a floating eye looking down at Caleb's phone. He could see that Caleb was texting a number called "Baby Boo <3". He could only roll his eyes as he moved his eyes around. With the pressure from the previous failure, right now his head was hurting pretty bad but it was barnacle.
He would at least not faint again. Ignoring Caleb, he tried to get used to the second vision but it was still disorienting. Especially when he started walking around with it still moving. He accidentally bumped into a group of girls playing Uno, which left him feeling extremely sorry and embarrassed. Sitting down, Jake sighed heavily as he rubbed his head.
Caleb had been looking up for a couple of minutes and had his eyebrows cocked weirdly, "Yo bro I heard you passed out during your second class, okay man?" Caleb had heard about Jake through some acquaintances, and when he saw him walking around funny, he was worried Jake had almost his mind.
"Ahh yeah, it's just because I tried running to school today. It seems I overdid it this morning." Hearing that; Caleb perked up his eyes before hearing a text from his phone. Immediately looking down, he smiled like a fool.
Rolling his three eyes, Jake locked his eye onto his head. Although there was a slight pain when it was connected, it still felt much better than when it was disconnected. Soon, he realized he could move it quite literally all over his body and the mental pressure wouldn't increase. He decided to keep it behind him, as of course the saying went, "Eyes on the back of your head, can stop any rebar pipe." The last part Jake added on himself.
This, however, quite literally gave him almost 360 vision which was quite a satisfying thing. The day slowly ended, and everyone packed up to leave. As Jake was walking down the halls, he saw someone and remembered something from that morning.
This morning he wrote down his crush, Selina's name in the book. He remembered that one of the conditions for getting them into the relationship database was to talk to them. Jake could see her walking behind him by about 10 feet. It seemed this could be the chance that he needed to unlock that relationship page.
Jake continued walking to the main entrance as he kept his eyes on her. She was with a group of her girlfriends as they all chatted. Unfortunately, he didn't have a detachable ear to hear them talking. Reaching the exit, all the people started to disperse. With that, Selina and her friends also started to separate. Unfortunately for Jake, one of her friends still seemed to be with her as they walked down the street together. When he saw the direction they were heading, he frowned. They were going to the parking lot where the cars were at. He followed close behind, hoping to find an opportunity to start a conversation. The two girls walked down the parking lot and soon, Jake saw the two girls in front of a car talking.
As much as he liked Selina, he had no idea what her car looked like so he figured this might be her car. Thinking of this, he had to think quickly about what to ask without being weird. As he looked around, he got an idea.
"Excuse me, ladies, I wonder whose car this is?" Jake walked up to the girls awkwardly as he waved at them. "This car?" Selina's friend pointed to the old Ford pickup behind her in confusion.
Jake nodded. Selina spoke as she touched its hood, "This is the car that I got from my dad." Jake nodded and praised it, "It's a nice car, do you perhaps know where he got it from?" It was not that nice of a car. It had visible rust in the trunk, and one of the handles seemed to be hanging by a single bolt.
"Oh sorry, I'm not sure where he got it, he's had it way longer than I've been born." Selina laughed sheepishly, which once again made Jake's heart tighten.
"It's fine, it's fine, just thought I'd ask since I really like the model." Jake shook his head while Selina and her friend stood still awkwardly. The area turned silent as Jake thought of nothing to say.
Finally, after a few seconds, Jake coughed and thanked Selina once again before heading off in a random direction. He had no idea where he was going, but it was away from them! It was too awkward! What was he thinking?
Jake hid his face in embarrassment as he hid behind a van. 'I could've talked about exams, or graduation, or anything! But no, I just had to blank out.' Jake felt sullen as he realized they had both left. Now he had to walk to the bus stop in shame as he waited for the next bus to come. It seemed he would be late again for work.
On the bus, Jake pulled out his book and looked at his relationship page.
<Relationships
Mother…
Father…
Selina Rentaul: 5 (Does not even know you exist)>
Looking at the decryption, Jake's face fell. How could she not know who he is? He's talked to her twice! Jake felt horrible right now. Imagine finding out your crush had no idea who you were.
This was a big blow to Jake as he sat on the bus. He used his Omniscient Eye to peer at the people around him but it was all boring students.
After 20 minutes he exited the bus and as fast as he could got his lunch stuff ready. Exiting the house, he ran down the street, he knew he would get an earful from the old man again.
