“Good morning, Master Akito~!” Leo walked inside the room and pulled the sheets off the young Vongola. “What a glorious day this is! Why the sun is shining so bright and it feels like it’s singing a joyful song.”
Hearing the butler's cheerful voice, Akito rolled to look at the older boy with a glare. “Quit your shit. What’s wrong?” He sat up, not feeling very comfortable with his attitude so early in the day.
“Master Akito, what vulgar words.” Leo gasped dramatically. “I was just trying to wake you up with a loving attitude.” When he was hit in the face with a pillow, Leo didn’t lose his smile but spoke with a guilty tone. “Your father wants you to go on a date with your fiance this afternoon.”
Akito blinked. “What? A date?” He was still waking up, but the sound of a date made him perk up.
“Yes. So you are excused from training.” Leo looked at the young master and blinked. “You don’t look troubled. I surely thought you wouldn’t like the idea since you don’t trust the girl… Unless…” He smirked, earning him another pillow to his face. “I know you don’t want me to make fun of you, but please think of the servants who clean your room.”
“Shut up, Leo.” Akito hopped to his feet. “After yesterday, I don’t have hope that my life will be in order. Also, I can’t complain about the girl since I agreed to accept her into my life. Just because I don’t trust her, doesn’t mean I can complain about her.”
“Nicely said, My little lord!” Leo clapped his hands. “My, children do grow up fast, don’t they?”
“Leo.” The brunette growled, making the blonde look away. Letting out a sigh to calm himself, Akito walked to his closet. “Have you arranged the breakfast yet?”
Recovering from the growl, Leo smiled. “Of course. I had them prepare everything in the garden. Since it’s such a beautiful day outside, I’m sure that the young lady will enjoy the food outside.”
“Great, a sneak peak into our date before it happens.” Akito walked out wearing a sweater and jeans. He was already messing with his hair when he saw Leo giving him a look. “What?”
Leo only let out a sigh. “My, my. Looks like you’re still a child.” He clapped his hands and three maids entered the room. “Since you’ll be on a date, you are to dress for the occasion. A sweater and jeans are an insult to the lady. Please prepare him in less than an hour.”
“Yes, sir!” The maid saulted before two maid began to drag Akito to his bathroom while the other entered his closet. “Leave it to us.”
“What reliable workers.” Leo nodded as he turned to the door.
“Wait! Hey! Leo!” Akito struggled to fight back against the maids. “What’s going on?! Wait! No! Leo!”
“Have fun, Master Akito~!” Leo bowed as he walked out of the room and closed the door. “Now, let’s go greet the young lady.”
Sitting in front of a vanity, Pearl looked at her reflection as she brushed out her hair. She had trouble sleeping that night since she was in such a nice room. Thinking about it, she looked around and shivered.
“Is this what Cinderella felt like?” She whispered to herself and walked over to the closet that was filled with clothes and dresses. “These clothes are so right and colorful… I can’t believe she ordered these all in one day.”
A knock at the door made her jump and hide, since she was wearing a nightgown. Nervously, she called out. “Come in!”
The door opened and two maids entered the room. When Pearl saw their faces, she came out of her hiding spot and rushed to hug them. “Bridget! Charlotte!” She teared up when they hugged her back.
“Oh, my little pearl!” Charlotte smiled as they pulled the young girl back. “You look like a princess, how cute.”
“I like this place better already. You’re not in rags here.” Bridget smirked as she patted the young girl’s head.
These two were the twin sisters, Bridget and Charlotte. Even though these twins are completely identical, they have different personalities. Bridget was more realistic and cold to others, not hesitating to point out other’s flaws or mistakes. Charlotte was more bubbly and kind to others, willing to help others fix their mistakes. These twins were like big sisters to Pearl while she lived at the Cacciatori family mansion since they took care of her when she entered the home.
“What are you two doing here?” Pearl asked as they pulled her to the vanity. “Are you by chance here to help me?”
“Not exactly…” Charlotte began as she started to brush the blonde hair. “Madam asked us to come here to observe you and assist you if you need to get the job done.”
“And also report to her about what you’re doing and your progress,” Brigette spoke from the closet. “I’m afraid that your assassination skills pale in comparison to ours.”
Pearl looked at her hands. “You mean, if I fail, you get to report back to Mother and she gets to claim that she had no part in my attempt.”
“But we won’t leave you.” Charlotte hugged the girl from behind and then pulled her hair back. “The butler told us that you’re going to join the young master for breakfast and then you two will look around the Vongola Properties.”
Pearl looked at the younger twin. “I have a confession. I know that boy. Well, I met him before we met officially.”
“What do you mean?” Brigette asked as she walked out of the closet with an outfit. “Where?”
“I met him at a restaurant where I was going to meet my brother. He was working there.” Pearl explained. “I didn’t know who he was and because I thought he was cute, I kind of… didn’t put up an act. Brother wasn’t putting up an act either and shocked his worry for me.”
Charlotte gasped. “He’s that cute? I gotta see him now!”
“Stupid, she’s supposed to act like the madam.” Brigette sighed as she looked at her master. “You have orders to put up an act to save the family image. You’re a nice and generally good person, forgiving anyone if they make a small mistake. In the Cacciatori family, that’s a weakness. What happened at the formal meeting?”
“That’s the thing.” Pearl got up. “He didn’t mention that he met me before that meeting. Brother and I were completely shocked, but that Vongola Boy was unfazed.”
“They must have done a deep dive into your background. Maybe they know you’re an assassin. No, they can’t. Maybe they already have an idea of you being a spy.” Brigette shook her head. “This isn’t good.”
“I mean, we just left that dark alliance and joined the Vongola side. It wouldn’t put it past me if Decimo knows that you’re a spy.” Charlotte chimed in. “Could it be that he doesn’t think you’re a threat? Maybe that’s why he didn’t say anything during the formal meeting.”
“I don’t know. I couldn't sleep because I was afraid he was going to send someone to my room last night.” Pearl sat in her chair. “What if he knows, but wants to make a deal? What if he knows what I’m here for but doesn’t care because he can use me? What if-!”
“Okay.” Brigette got down to her lady’s eye level and held her shoulders. “If that is the reason, we’ll keep an eye on him. You focus on showing him you’re a harmless little girl from a rich family.”
“But Mother’s orders…” Pearl blinked when her maid shook her head.
“Forget it. Besides, I think it would be better to act like a normal girl who isn’t involved in the mafia. Be weak and make him protect you.” Brigette patted her head. “I’ll send a message to your mother and tell her that you can’t act like a spoiled brat. I’ll make something up. Just focus on tricking him and get some information from him.”
Pearl nodded her head. “Okay.” She stared at the dress and stood up. “Let’s go on a date.”
