Of course, Old Bern sat at the cashier with a book in his hand. Jake stopped but decided not to say anything to Old Bern. There must be a reason why Joana has hidden this from everyone because if he knew Old Bern well enough, he already has a perfect shining shotgun he would be happy to use.
Sighing, he went to the back and put his shirt on. Coming out, Old Bern had already entered his house. Jake could only mindlessly sit at the cash register. With so much free time, it did allow him to do more studying. However, he would often switch topics a lot from Lewis to weightlifting, to powers, to swordfighting. His search history looked like a mess. Finally, after it went dark he saw a familiar figure walk in.
"Good evening Joana." Jake gave a nod as Joana smiled. She didn't say much as she went to the break room. Jake had a face of constipation as a moral fight was happening in his mind. Two armies lined up, and two mini versions of Jake stood at the front. One wore shining white armor, while the other was suited up in dark volcanic armor.
The dark one shouted with anger, "Angel Jake, why have you stopped our charge, we are only a few feet away from seeing our beautifully tanned goddess change in the backrooms." As the volcanic general spoke, the hundreds of soldiers Jake's all shouted in unison, "LET US SEE! LET US SEE! LET US SEE!"
The white Jake stood with a firm stance as he had a grim expression, "You scoundrels! Don't you see what she is already going through? How can we also be part of the problem that haunts her daily? I vow to never let you set off beyond me!" With a smack of the rod, the soldiers erupted in shouts as they slammed the ground with their swords and shields.
The volcanic Jake sneered as he shouted, "CHARGE!" hundreds of troops engaged in mighty warfare as they fought for their ideals. Jake on the outside still looked horrible, but his face began to clear as the winner of the battle shouted in victory. "WE SHALL SEE THE GLORIOUS QUEEN!"
Inching his way to the table, he slowly started wiping as he took a peek through the door. Inside, Joana's big butt and boobs were a feast to behold, as Jake took a big gulp. However, when his eyes caught the two bruises and another smaller one forming on her hip, Jake's happy balloon deflated.
In his mind, as the volcanic Jake cheered, a divine voice came from the battlefield. "Although you may have killed us once, you can never stop the divine power." With that, the white Jake and his hundreds of soldiers rose from the dead and swiftly took down the volcanic Jake. In the end, Jake couldn't bear to watch as he returned to the counter in a downtrodden expression. He hadn't even seen Joana come out of the back room. "You're free to go Jakey." Hearing Joana's voice beside him, he jumped and almost fell to the ground.
She laughed as she switched positions with Jake, "You didn't have to scare me you know." Jake felt betrayed as he looked at the giggling Joana. "Haha, you just looked so depressed, it made me think you missed out on some divine treasure." Jake thought about her nice figure and inwardly told himself he did.
Looking at the smiling Joana, he also smiled and spoke, "Yeah, a smile looks a lot better on you." It was only after a second passed that he realized what he said. Joana's face froze as Jake's became red. "Um, um I'm sorry, I will see you tomorrow!" Running to the backroom, Jake was horrified. When did he have such guts? What will she think of him now? Why did he say something so stupid? As he thought of this he also had the realization he still had to walk back outside to leave.
Grabbing his stuff quickly, he dashed out of the room and only gave a curt bye as he ran out of the store. Joana was still dazed but when she saw him running away, she couldn't help but laugh and smile. "Mutter, Mutter." She muttered something to herself before opening up a book and humming a small tune.
…
In the middle of the road, Jake took deep breaths as his heart thumped wildly. He couldn't tell if that was because he had run a sprint just now or because of what he said. Either way, he had a silly expression on his face. He couldn't tell because he ran past, but he wondered what her thoughts were about him.
Taking a deep breath, he walked down the street again and opened his Compendium.

Looking at the page, Jake was dumbstruck. "This… how was this possible!" Her impression of him had increased by a whole point. Not only that, but it seems she is somewhat interested in him. Jake, not being able to contain his energy, jumped up and down excitedly. "I might have a chance with her!" Of course, Jake thought she was really pretty, but he did genuinely like her personality. Whenever she taught, Jake always had fun as she made it easy, and the two would make jokes all the time.
Walking inside his house, he was ecstatic. He didn't know what to do, so he swung his stick around, trying to release the energy within his body. GRUMBLE. Feeling his stomach grumble though he realized he was quite hungry from the excitement.
Cooking a quick meal, he ate and got ready for tomorrow, as he would be able to have a new skill unlocked.
