Luca jerks his digits away, finally turning his face so he can scowl at the captain, “Don't touch me.”
Nico has half a mind to snarl at him but he swallows it, shaking his head as he forces his irritation to the back of his mind, placing the fruit in the omegas hand, “Eat. You'll feel better.”
Those blue eyes stare down at the fruit in his hand and slowly those eyebrows shift up, the younger boy's gaze softening as his mind clearly drifts away. Nico almost smiles in amusement because seeing him so dazed after he's been such a stick in the mud for the last couple of weeks is such a sight to see.
Luca’s gaze sticks to the dried pineapple in his hand, blue eyes growing foggy as Nico sits there, the shivers slowly subsiding from the younger man's body as he obviously loses his senses for a moment and whispers a quiet, “Eman…”
Nico’s eyebrows furrow gently, and he swallows, looking at Luca’s far away eyes, “Who?”
The brunette blinks, looking up at Nico wide eyed and the alpha sees a flash of embarrassment in his expression before his face scrunches up in annoyance, “Thanks.” He mutters, turning his face away from Nico again in favor of pressing his forehead to the wall again, slowly eating the fruit in his palm.
Nico stares at him, watching as Luca’s gaze looks sad somehow, even beneath the prominent glare. He finds his own stomach doing flip flops, his chest squeezing strangely until he forces himself up and off of the bed, away from the sweet smell that's clouding his head.
He sits down at his desk, taking a steadying breath as he leans over the parchment spread across the wood. He tries to focus, but his eyes stare blankly ahead of himself until they break upwards towards that freckled neck.
He swallows, and he feels something tighten in the back of his skull as he watches Luca’s fist swipe across his own cheek. Nico can't see his eyes from this angle, but he can tell by the way his shoulders have hunched over and the way his head hangs down that the omega is crying to some extent. Nico wants to comfort him, hug him, rub his back, talk to him, something… But somehow he knows that if he tries Luca just might bite him.
It's late by the time he's turning his lantern down. The moonlight is heavy across the room as he walks over to the bed, stretching his tight limbs before stripping down to his undergarments at least. He crawls beneath the covers, turning so that his back is to Luca- he found out the hard way the other night that it's easier to be kicked in the back than in the guts.
He feels shifting behind him, and the alpha silently thanks the gods above for that. If Luca rolls to face away from him then he can turn over and lay comfortably on his left side. Laying on his right side is alright but he broke his arm a few years back and it just never felt the same. He shifts, pushing the blanket up as he rolls over.
And stops mid way when Luca looks up at him. Nico blinks blankly, and the omega stares up at him wide eyed, looking caught. Nico feels his breath stutter up his throat as he stares down into those big blue eyes, still utterly amazed at how truly round Luca’s eyes can get.
They stare at each other awkwardly for a few long moments, and Nico feels his chest twist and turn as he lays down to settle into the sheets. Luca doesn't turn or roll away like he normally does, eyes watching the alphas every movement until the blond is settled.
And then, to further the alphas shock, he speaks, “You're nice to me.” He grumbles.
Nico stares at him, and he glances to the side as he isn't sure what to say to that, “I mean… I guess I have been…” He says, not sure if him just showing common courtesy should be considered being nice to somebody.
“Why?” Luca’s eyes fall quietly, and for the first time in almost a month he sees that freckled face relax, calm washing his expression. Those curious eyes flit back and forth across the captain's face, and Nico has to distract himself from his stomach dropping to his knees.
“Because why not…” He whispers back and Luca’s brows pinch slightly. Nico immediately wants them to go back to being relaxed, “I haven't got a reason to be mean to you, I suppose.”
“Hm…” The omegas eyes shift down, staring at the sheets they lay on as he falls quiet.
Nico can't help but stare, feeling his chest clench up and his heart flop around as he lays next to the other boy stiffly. He's never found another man attractive- well he has, but not like this. This is different. These feelings that keep rising out of nowhere are different and new.
