He walks down the beach until he can barely hear the crew’s joy, his eyes scanning for the gunshots he's hearing. He rounds some brush and trees, gaze slitting back and forth until it lands on a figure silhouetted by the moonlight. Luca stands there, pistol aimed out in front of himself as he shoots at a made up target- at least that's what Nico is assuming it was before it was blasted all to hell and back.
He leans against a tree, watching the brunette squint his angry eyes, shooting the target over and over again, body stiff as a board but planted to the ground firmly.
The captain brings in a long breath, neck warming as he risks speaking, “You're wasting bullets.”
The gun whips around, aiming at him. Luca stares him down over the barrel of the gun, eyes harsh and mean. Nico knows then that the omega definitely knew he was there to begin with- he didn't even flinch- he was just ignoring the older man.
Nico clenches his jaw as the gun doesn't lower, and for a moment he wonders if Luca’s actually gonna shoot him, “Gonna kill me?” He jokes anyways, and as Luca’s eyes narrow the captain is sure he's sealed his fate.
The gun lowers, that freckled face turning away from him and silently walking towards the stick and twig target, crouching to start shoving the thing back together haphazardly. Nico gnaws at his jaw, and slowly he moves to follow him, walking over and standing near him, “Is this where you've been the whole time?” He asks.
Luca grunts in confirmation, and Nico’s glad he's getting that much, “Looks like you've been at it for a while.”
“Well, would you rather me shoot William…?” The brat’s eyes look up at him menacingly, “Or you?” He sneers before standing up and walking back over to where he's been standing before. Nico follows.
“Well, I suppose not.” Nico says back, watching as Luca aims again, blue eyes focusing. Nico stares at him, and he can see the hurt that shimmers beneath the rage boiling in the younger man's eyes. He swallows, “I didn't mean to lose my temper.”
Luca’s arm lowers immediately, eyes turning on Nico as his expression scrunches up into a incredulous look, “Why the fuck was I being scolded when William was clearly in the wrong?”
Nico frowns some, “Because you started the fight.”
“He called me a fucking pet!” Luca shouts suddenly and Nico feels his breath die on his tongue, “He called me your fucking pet!” Luca’s face scrunches in rage as he addresses himself with the gun in his hand, “I didn't ask to be on this fucking ship! You dragged me on there! And that bastard has the goddamn audacity-!” His eyes are blazing and Nico watches bluntly as the younger man aims the gun, shooting the target several times before turning back to Nico, looking scary as he lips twist into a snarl, “I am no one's pet!” He points at Nico, “And I won't let some dumb, old twit tell me otherwise!” He says, a thick accent rolling the younger man's R’s and clipping the English.
Nico nods slowly, not sure what he can say that won't make that glower worse, “Alright…” He says, their eyes locking as Luca frowns at him, “Alright… I'm sorry for what William said-”
“William should be sorry for what he said!” Luca barks, and Nico doesn't miss the second of hurt that flashes across the brunette's face before he scowls again and he looks away, “I'm sick of this shit.” He whispers.
Nico clenches his jaw, forcing himself not to give into that special treatment, “I'll talk to him later, by himself.” Nico assures gently, and Luca huffs, shoulders slowly slumping as the gun falls to his hip. The omega looks up at the stars above, closing his eyes as he breathes in long, timed breaths.
Nico is about to actually console him when the other man's arm raises back up, and his face is calm.
