Ishakura: A Timeless Legacy

Chapter 16: Establishing Order!

Chapter 16: Establishing Order!

Oct 24, 2024

Upon stepping through the veil, Sean, a half human, half Avvian, was surprised to see the beautiful interior to the cave. Its bioluminescent filled waters and fluorescent filled ceilings. A steady stream fell from somewhere above and as they walked along the purple ground each step was filled with a chime. It was music to ones ears.

“Hey Sean!” A voice calls from behind.

Sean’s neck twirls to the sound of her voice as he calls back, “Majri?”

“Hey, have you seen the others?” Majri asks. Her canine ears twitch to nearby noises as her tail wags left to right tapping against her silver armor, the noise is repetitive and gets old easily; however, sean was already used to his kannan friend.

“No, I thought they’d be with you.” Sean worrily said. “Where could those two be?”

As if answering his question, an explosion was set off in the distance, catapulting a short green goblin in a clunky chestpiece to their feet. “Jjabbrill?!” Majri and Sean both call out in unison.

He looks broken and his body twitches as he tries to move, yet after a moment he somehow manages to spring up perfectly fine. “Have any of you seen Tsion?”

“He’s the one who threw me.” Jjabbrill groans, in the distance a large ogre stomps across the area coming to a sudden halt in frn of them.

“Guys, we need to get a move on. It's anarchy here!” He cries.

“Dont gotta tell me twice, lets go!” Sean shouts taking the lead. He moves swiftly gliding along the wind as the sound of metal clash around him. They approach the end of the cavern, “We’re almost there guys, just a little further–”

“Enough!” Someone shouts. It sends shivers down Sean’s spine. The call of authority forces him to stop and thankfully so, since a wall of flame surrounds the entire room moments away from burning his face off. It slowly creeps to its center forcing everyone to move with it.

Kata stands at it’s center, his amber armor glistens with the caves bioluminesce as he holds his flaming sword overhead. “What animals, all of you!” He repermands. “Do you wish to conquer this dungeon together, as my loyal subjects?” Glances of uncertainty follow his words and meet one another. Sean is amongst them. He too looks around, his eyes peeking at Kata with doubt as he continues on, “If you so wish to join me, join my side. If you do not, well.” He slams his blade into the ground and the circle disappears. “You will be free to move on without us.”

Everyone remains still, Sean couldn’t understand such a reason for theatrics however with the choice ahead of him he only wanted to gather his team and move forward; however, a thought shot across his mind like that of a shooting star. As Jjabbrill began stepping away Sean seizes hold of his arm with an intense stare vigorous enough to melt through steel. The room becomes divided as a river of students rush to the end of the cavern, Jjabbrill shouts, “Hey, what’s the matter, lets get away from this psycho!”

As Jjabbrill yanks away a ball of flame whizzes past his face and slams into the croud. It bursts forth as breath of ruination forcing them away. Jjabbrill opens his mouth and lets out that annoying squeal he does when in distress. Sean hates it

“That takes care of them.” Kata sighs. “Anyone else wishes to join them,” He laughs, stepping over the bodies of his unconcious classmen.

Jayne steps forth from the croud, the first to follow Kata; however, instead of passive acceptance she holds a stare of defiance, “That was unnecessary,” she spat.

The prince stops in his tracks. His anger manifests into a brooding heat as is seeps through the walls of the dungeon. It burns the feet of Sean and his party and soon began affecting those in the nearby.

Whoosh*

Ice falls over the area cooling the space. Kata looks over his shoulders into the eyes of the elven princess, her nature of defiance strays not far from his mind. “Quit behaving like a child.” She demands.

“Do you wish to battle princess?” Kata brandishes his blade before aiming it toward Jayne, his eyes sharply follow the line between her neck and head, as if saying I can assure you, it won't end well.

She raises a hand and frost leaks from her palm. Her hair bounces around her eyes as snowflakes begin forming around them, then she stops, “We should conserve our strength for the monsters of the dungeon instead of fighting one another.”

Kata’s eyes see unimpressed by the anti-climactic ordeal, he dissipates his sword before placing a hand on his forehead, “Well then, why’d you go and make a scene for, lets hurry up, this dundeon’s not clearing itself.” He calls to command, “Hichi, Toko!” The two leap to his side, Hichi is slender with a black leather suit and large boots. Toko is known for his large bag of healing herbs and recipies. His large and circular glasses are also a staple of his personality eccenuating his open personality.

“At attention my prince!” The two shout.

“Follow close behind, we’re clearing this dungeon before anyone else, got it– especially my sister, she’s bound to have started.” He takes off in a full sprint and Sean does the same along with the rest of the classmen.

The Elven Princess glides with each step, behind he is an entourage of those who adore her. Kata’s situation didn’t seem too different. Sean finds his eyes glued to them, their aura belittles him just a bit, however the thought doesn’t linger, instead he chooses to focus on the large door ahead. As a matter of fact, most do. It appears to be a door inscribed with various runes and text.

Kata, rushes to the door, practically stomping over anyone infront of him. Several others approach, perhaps skilled in the art of decoding. Majri approaches the door to give it a try and after several hours of waiting and playing tic-tak-toe with a goblin who for some reason couldn’t understand the rules, Sean jolted to the creaking of the large door. They rejoice to the sound and begin flooding in behind Kata and the others. Sean makes sure to stay close with his party, for environments like these tent to require at least one member to remain hyperfocused on such details.

As he enters the room Sean can almost feel the pressure shift, it is very much not like the cavern they had just left instead, the air grew colder and the weight of the room grew. Kata points a finger toward the ceiling and shoots a small ball of flame which spreads across its entirety. The stones and rocks at the top each begin to glow upon the room, laminating it with an array of colors both bright and fruitful. along the walls are each, two giant statues and dozens of minute ones, each holding one of the four weapons: A spear, an ax, a sword, and a hammer. Sean mentions his unease yet it goes unnoticed, everyone seems to focus on the giant chest at the end of the room rather than the creepy stone giants.

He follows closely behind Kara, confident in his ability. Sean watches as he kicks the lock from the chest and creaks it open. He practically falls inside searching for anything that it might hold; however, nothing seems to be inside. Instead the entrance slams shut and the stone giant's eyes glow crimson. They rip themselves from their forever set positions raising their weapons for all to see. Students begin to scatter as they break of in every direction. Some beat on the closed door while others cling to the side of the prince however Sean cant help but scream for the names of his party members. A large statue catches Sean’s gaze, the two have locked eyes and its weapon is raised to it’s peak. This is his last moments, he thought, but even then his grip on his weapon became even tighter.

As the statue brought down his blade a icy dome surrounds the students just before a fiery explosion is set off. Kata screeches wwith laughter as he soars through the air slamming his blade into the head of the Stone statue. Its face explodes and it’s body crumbles with it.

“I will ensure our victory, Burn by me!”

Sean didn’t know if it had been due to the coldness in the air but he couldn’t feel his legs, nor any part of his body. His legs had crumbled before him and his chest heaves wildly. He’s like a feral animal frothing at the mouth. Somehow the area grew colder and Sean instantly breaks his neck to look toward Jayne. Student’s block his line of sight however he could still see it, she raises a hand and srost dances around her arm forming into a large axe. She slowly raises it with ease, as if it were weightless and aims it toward another Large statue shooting off a torrent of ice freezing it’s movements. And in an instant she disappears, reappearing at the midsection of the statue. She smashes it’s torso into a thousand little pieces bringing the statue to its knees. She lands infront of the croud dissipating her weapon before looking off in the distance. She stares for a while before her eyes widen in a unpercieved shock. She extends her arm putting another glass dome over the students as another explosion erupts in the entire area. Every statue suns to dust as the door opens.

Students race to the exit, many with tears in their eyes however, Sean couldn’t help but crawl, his legs wwere still useless despite knowing is safe. After leaving the room Kata stood proudly claiming praise for his actions. He was self-richous and egotistical. Not much like a kings, or at least a good one.
