Chapter 9: The orb

Benji stands up after a few hours going to the window of the cell breaking out. He falls down a stiff cliff the prison was at, he is immediately surprised as he falls down. He groans as he stands up, he hears the chirps of a bird flying down to him. The bird was a dark shade of purple, maybe a crow.

It drops down a paper message :

Dear Disciple,

An item from a powerful source had dropped on the planet I sent you to. The item is the Orb of Simeria, I’m currently hunting her, and that orb is a part of her collection of great power. She dropped them off on many different planets but the first one is here. Find them and bring them to my temples, I’ll be chasing her off and I’ll work on finding the locations. Although I do not know where specifically on this planet, I have trust that you’ll find it,

Sincerely D.”

Benji finishes reading as the crow flies away, he sighs as he decides to try and find it.

Benji wants to throw all his problems away and run, but he can’t, not now, he still has a task in mind. He puts the scroll in his waistband as the dark crow flies away, after many hours Benji finally finds his way out the woods. He finds a dirt path as a carriage strolls by. The horses are dark black with red handles and straps, the carriage itself is a dark color wood. Benji decides to walk in front of it to see it unknowingly the horses slightly trample over him and the carriage driver pulls their collars making them stop in their tracks.

“Bloody hell, get out the road!” The man yells. Benji stands as he watches the driver lash the horses as they drive off Benji quickly grabs the carriage as he picks up a small sharp rock from the ground, piercing it into the driver's eye. The driver screams in agony as Benji digs the rock into his eye as he pushes the driver off the carriage grabbing the horses handles and straps before they get loose. He ties them on the little handlebar in the center. Benji crawls on the top of the moving carriage finding a trap door, he struggles opening it. He rips off the door looking inside.

It’s an older man, he has pale skin and dark black hair, next to him is a young lady, a teen girl with long black hair and somewhat dirty skin. The man yells at Benji confused as Benji notices the girl's eyes being puffy, she must’ve been crying earlier. “Who are you!? Where’s my driver!” The old man yells.

Benji jumps into the inside of the carriage, the crow comes back dropping a message as Benji grabs it, the man and girl sit in the back, scared of the man clutching his cane. The second little note read, kingdom of Bernes. Benji looks at the man.

“ Take me to Bernes, ” Benji says blankly. The man immediately refuses, cursing Benji's name. Benji shakes his head as he gets an idea. He opens the door grabbing the man, Benji drags the man’s face into the running ground, the small and big rocks ruining the man’s face, blooding him. Benji lifts his head back up, he was originally just going to ask him again until he realized the man is long gone. Benji throws his body out as he looks at the girl. “ You know where Bernes?” The girl shakes her head as Benji sighs, he glances at her wrists seeing strain marks as he points. She quickly covers them up as he waves her hand, Benji is confused. He points again. The girl says she was on her way to the nearby kingdom of Bernes, but she was taken away from home and sold to the old man Benji just killed. Benji listens as he regrets killing the driver. She says she was taken from him missing it, she explains. Benji has a similar feeling, being taken away from your home. Benji decides to help. He opens the broken trap door jumping out as he maneuvers the carriage to the girls home direction.

After around three hours they make it, Benji waits for the girl to get out as she does. As he gets down one of the wheels breaks as he groans in irritation . The girl suddenly hugs him as she thanks him. Benji is a bit confused as he watches her run back to her family. He feels a fuzzy feeling, happiness ? No, how could he feel happy in his situation, he shouldn’t get to feel happy.

He sees a man riding a horse as a idea pops,

Benji unleashes a horse as he hops on it, he’s unfamiliar with the concept, he accidentally almost slips as he clutches its straps accidentally hitting the horse and making it run off. The horse runs off quickly as Benji struggles to not fall off as he soon fixes himself on the horse. The horse runs as Benji sits more up getting his face smacked with branches as he hides his head low.

He strides with the horse as the horse gets tired after an hour or so it slows down. Benji un clutches the horse feeling a bit sick from the non stop running. After many hours the horse makes it to the kingdom of Bernes. He hops off the horse as it does its own thing. When Benji enters, the kingdom's towns folk seem poor, while its castle and royal area seem rich and posh. He walks further into the kingdom as he sees a glimmer from the castle window tiers, the light is a bit blue but small. Like a light you’d see from an earring being shined upon from a star. He thinks it could be inside the castle possibly.

As he walks he trips into a well not noticing the small well. He grumbles feeling like a toddler as he gets out, ringing his robes out. He hears the chuckles of children as he gets irritated. He sits up seeing around 4 kids giggling. He’s being made fun of by actual toddlers, which makes him feel embarrassed. He splashes the kids as they laugh, running off as he chuckles himself. The kids come back with small buckets of water as they drench Benji.

Benji laughs as he splashes back, the kids and him getting wet from all the water. Benji misses the feeling of being able to laugh, to have fun , instead of having all these mixed emotions and the mission. He hears an old woman yell, she scolds the kids for wasting precious water. She notices Benji just standing there as she yells at him too. She pinches his ear,

“ Young people these days” she grumbles, dragging Benji from the ear out the water. She lets go as Benji feels his ear in slight pain. He rubs his ear as he notices the lady having some kind of religious symbol connected to a necklace as he tilts his head curious. 

“ oh you're curious hm? Well you sure to know our god and savior, Simeria” he explains, she pauses, “Come pray with us” she says giddy, grabbing his arm, dragging him to the church.

They soon enter a dusty and old looking church. The symbol looks almost like a star with a circle in the center. The church is made up of some kind of dark wood and cement. As they walk in Benji could smell the mist of old people and decay. The inside is fairly clean with many people inside. Benji takes notice of one thing.
