Marcus took slow and steady steps on the pavement along the way to the beach. He took a moment to look at all the people walking past him. They all in a rush. The path they all walking, leads to one destination – The beach. He looked in amusement and wonderment. The people are rushing to the beach. And for what? To enjoy their weekend. But why rush? Why lost? We all are going to the same destination, in the end.

He walked along the beach as the waves danced on his feet. A sense of grounding and clearing of vision in him. But it won’t all come at pure peace. When you go on a roller-coaster ride, the moment you get down, you’ll feel dizzy, nausea and some vomit. That’s how changes in life too. Marcus is not aware yet. The mild restlessness in him, he ignored it to be adrenaline rush.

Days passed; months passed. He started to feel more restless, he broke down. He started to help people on electrical fixings and freelancing labors. He could barely earn. He could not go back to the job again. He felt lost. He went back to ocean. The one thing that gave him life, now feels lifeless. The ocean, that once looked so beautiful and real; now looks like an endless blues of emptiness. Just like his heart. The restlessness didn’t fade. He started to believe in God. He frequented to church, Mosque and Buddha shrines. He called all God. He prayed. He believed all spiritual beliefs there is. He stopped Frequenting to the beach.

By the time it’s June, he felt as if he is waiting for something. As if his heart yearning for something. He cried himself to sleep. He started to do the part-time jobs again. Felt empty yet a calling for his heart in the distance. Some where he never been to. Someone he never met. His heart yearned for
the unknown.

Marcus have not much connection to the people. He had three friends, from his orphanage. He is not always in touch with them, but he was invited in the important events of their life. Currently, Marcus is in one of such events. His friend Derik celebrating his first child’s birthday. Marcus bought a simple Bear plushie as a gift. The all talked and caught up with each other. His three friends –Derek, Paul and Gloria. Each got their own life going. Derek found a family of his own, he runs an retro bar. Paul works in IT and he is engaged too. Gloria works in a boutique; she got a girlfriend and they are living together.

That night, when Marcus returned from the party, he did not sleep. He compared himself to his friends. He compared and came to the conclusion that it’s a partner that he is lacking. He came to a conclusion that a lover is the answer. He concluded that Love can fix him and so he slept that night after a break down, deciding to find one. To find his person. That night he dreamed of being at the ocean, but the next day when he woke up, he ignored the dream, labelling it as some omen. Deep down he felt the need to avoid the beach. He blames it all on the ocean. He blamed how the ocean hypnotized him to peace and took everything from him. These past months, ocean is the last thing he want to be at.
