Dec-2000- 10 PM,
Marcus ran. He doesn’t have to know where. Even if his mind and heart speak different things all at the same time, his body knows. He ran to the ocean. The vast blue that showed him life and light. The vast blue that he pushed off and labelled as Omen, bad luck. The vast ocean, that he blamed for the life he got now. A vast blue he hated. When this is the case then why he is running back to the ocean? A question only he could answer. His tears falling as he ran. He is breathless, but his legs won’t stop. His brain protests, heart quiet and beating in his ears. Silencing all the questions.
He reached the rocks and bare sharp stone side of the ocean. He climbed the highest cliff. The clouds dark and Moon hanging in full and heavy. He looked at the now sneering ocean. Waves reaching so high, yet can’t reach him on the cliff. If ocean is people in blue cardigan, the waves look like as if those mass of people are reaching out to grab him. He closed his eyes, and took a deep shaky breath. When he opened his eyes, his heart felt heavy and, in that moment, he felt lost and his life felt worthless. The fact that he is lonely with no family by birth and none of his own, dawned upon him. His mind started to send out all the old receipts. His appearance, His career, His Love life, not a single best friend. That moment, he felt the endless darkness eating him up. It started from his head and slowly went down his body and legs. And soon, before he can realize, he is falling.
Falling into the deep vast blue, that be came to loathe and hate. The vast blue that comforted him once. He fell into its very embrace. He didn’t protest. He didn’t give up. But it all felt right. His tears soon wiped away by the salty ocean water. His body engulfed in a cooling hug. A hug he never imagined. His eyes closed. Breath hitching. His restless mind shutting down with the last: “This is it”. And so, he let it all go. Finding solace in this dark blue engulfing him.
Humans can hate themselves as much as they want to, but the one created us will never. And people have different names and religion for that one everlasting power. Lives started from Ocean and ends in Ocean. The sentence is as true and real as the nature around us. And right now, the very same ocean doesn’t want this lonely soul of Marcus to go lifeless. When Marcus’ breath started to give up and when he was about to lose conscious, he saw a rushing of light coming towards him, underwater- in his blurred vision. It looked like little fairies. Many lights around him. And when his conscious closed a bit, he was thrown out of the water surface.
Mid-air, he gained consciousness and gasped as he felt falling. He landed flat on a rough slippery surface. His back laid on the surface, with his limbs sprawled like a starfish. He had a coughing fit and gasps. His conscious returning fully as the now starry sky and moon bright in his view. A howling call from the surface he was laying. He sat up and his heart leapt to his throat, taking the surrounding. He is sitting on top of a whale, surrounded by few dolphins hopping from the ocean, with a whistle. The cliff he jumped from is quite far from where he is now. He looked down at the ocean and there were tiny elusive octopodes shining blue and white light from under water.
