Surprisingly there weren't any people in this alleyway, though it was a bit creepy looking. After sitting on the small platform, I began pondering about what to do from now on. Even thinking about what happened made me want to cry. Such unreasonable events one after another...Well, at least I think they are unreasonable. The reasons of why those soldiers attacked are still unknown to me. But even so, I had to know why.
Learning all the information on why everything happened is probably my next step, but how? Asking someone about it doesn't sound like a smart move. Now that I think about it, I know nothing about this place. Is asking about the events that just transpired a taboo?
"How do I even approach this situation?" I muttered to myself.
"That's quite a...creepy spot you chose" Ban uttered in a humorous tone, while glancing around. It truly was a creepy spot. I could feel the chilly air getting under my skin. Dark grey walls that seemed ancient didn't make it any better.
"There aren't any tables or chairs here. The only empty place was this alleyway" I whispered.
Even talking seems impossible. I guess, I really am at the end of my ropes.
"You know...Cake wouldn't be my first option if I was this hungry. Eating something sweet in this scenario isn't the smartest decision you could have made. Well at least that's the kind of things my sister usually says"
"Your sister?"
"Yeah. You'll be able to meet her soon" He proclaimed with a face full of confidence.
Wait...Confidence?
"Oh, right. Before we eat the cake, I forgot to ask. What's under that blanket?"
I genuinely forgot about it. Probably because of the hunger I was feeling, or perhaps because the shopping district distracted me to the point where I even forgot about an item I was carrying.
It's not even small. Can't really think of anything this size that a burglar would carry.
Without even realizing the fact that I labelled those guys as "burglars", I started unfolding the blanket. They surely don't mind nicknames given to them without their notice.
"Are these clothes?" I blurted out with clear dissatisfaction. Recalling thief's "explosive" escape and the guys "GIVE IT BACK!" yell, I honestly expected more. Never thought someone would need to steal clothes from others. Even at home, while there were people committing burglary, they weren't doing it for some clothing.
The most disappointing part about this was no doubt, the fact that I comprehend close to nothing about clothing and accessories. I couldn't even tell if this fabric was decent or not.
How is a kid even supposed to know these things?
"They seem good quality" Ban remarked.
"!!"
"Well...not that I understand these things" He said after spotting my shocked, yet excited expression.
What did I even expect from a kid.
"Wait, Ban. How old are you?" This was the first time I voiced his name out loud. In only seconds lasting silence, I thought to myself, that I should have asked such questions a while ago. Not knowing anything about the person you're with is never a smart move.
Alongside a chuckle, he said "I am 10 years old! What about you?"
With that our conversation ran through topics such as our birthdays, favourite foods and snacks, hobbies and so on. This went on distracting us yet again from the incredibly disappointing thug's possession, that is, this attire of no value.
Only after a good half an hour or somewhere around that time, we started eating the cake Ban brought. It was a delicious cake glazed with chocolate and strawberries on top. The sweet taste melted in my mouth, making me enjoy every bite of the cake.
"So, are you going to wear them?" Ban asked.
"Should I?"
"It's not like you're wearing of anything that's good quality"
Even a kid would be able to tell what I was wearing wasn't anything to be proud of. A shirt barely hanging on this life, pants torn and burned in multiple spots. Not to mention, I was barefoot! No matter how much I didn't like the idea of wearing criminal's clothes, I had no choice.
After putting on a warm jacket made for winter, even though it's summer right now, changing my pants to the black ones stashed in the blanket and finally putting on some shoes, I was more than ready to continue my journey towards somewhere.
"Should we go now?"
As we passed through all the people, we finally left the shopping district.
