The Extraordinary Path of Cultivation

Setting up a street stall

Setting up a street stall

Oct 27, 2024

As soon as Su Ning disappeared, Wu Yunyi's face turned pale with anger. Damn it, he must have stepped out without checking the calendar today; the losses were immense. Not only had he wasted over a hundred thousand without gaining anything, but he had also lost a lot of face. Damn it, Su Ning, you bitch, just wait! One day, I will make you wish you were alive and wish you were dead.

“Once we loved each other passionately…” At that moment, Wu Yunyi's phone rang. After taking a look at it, his expression darkened even further, and he answered the call in a very displeased tone, “Hello, Wang Lu.”

“Yunyi, how's it going?” Wang Lu's urgent voice came from the other end of the line.

“How’s it going? You’ve ruined me!” Wu Yunyi shouted angrily into the phone, “Damn it, just because of your call, I was treated like a fool and got taken for a ride!”

Wang Lu on the other end was bewildered and had no idea what had caused Wu Yunyi to be so furious.

“Damn it, who told you I love eating fish bones? If you keep spreading rumors, do you believe I’ll have someone take you down?”

“I didn’t! Yunyi, you must be misunderstanding,” Wang Lu said, stunned and a bit choked up from the unexpected barrage of insults.

“Stop playing the victim! Damn it, just wait!” Wu Yunyi hung up the phone with a bitter expression, still filled with anger.

...

After leaving, Zheng Zheng went to Miaoguo Temple to buy materials of various sizes, catching the last bus back to Shuitou before 5:30 PM. For the next two months, Zheng Zheng immersed himself in drawing talismans in the deep mountains of Longwei.

“Fast.” In the room, Zheng Zheng uttered a command, and the wolf hair brush in his hand moved as if guided by a divine force, flowing with beauty and rhythm. The symbols and strokes were scattered yet orderly, quickly forming a cohesive whole, creating a unique and intricate talisman.

“Manifest.” Zheng Zheng suddenly increased the speed of the brush, moving it up and down at a rate barely visible to the naked eye. Finally, he placed a heavy dot on the yellow paper, like a finishing touch, and the talisman sprang to life, glowing with red light and exuding a mysterious, ancient aura, with wisps of spiritual energy wafting through the air.

“Seal.” He put down the brush, swiftly forming hand seals with both hands. A flash of light passed, and all the spiritual energy retreated into the talisman.

“Receive.” Zheng Zheng shouted, and the talisman paper floated down from the table and landed gently in his hand.

The task was complete.

Looking at the glowing Hercules talisman in his hand, Zheng Zheng was extremely satisfied. This was the third talisman he had produced that day.

Since successfully drawing his first rejuvenation talisman a month ago, Zheng Zheng's understanding of talisman drawing and crafting techniques had advanced by leaps and bounds, with a success rate soaring to around 40%. At this rate, he would certainly improve even further.

With the rejuvenation talisman no longer a problem, Zheng Zheng naturally seized the opportunity to explore other talismans. He researched and drew the Hercules talisman, which could instantly enhance strength by over ten times; the diamond talisman, which could reinforce physical defense; the speed talisman, which could accelerate running speed; and the invisibility talisman, which could conceal one's aura, among others. With the foundation laid, although the success rate was still low, he managed to achieve some results every day.

During this time, his talisman-drawing skills made significant progress, and his cultivation practice had not fallen behind. Each time he exhausted his magical power and meditated, he felt his magical power gradually improve. With the assistance of the jade pagoda in his cultivation, Zheng Zheng felt he was on the verge of breaking through to the second layer of Qi Refining.

Everything was better than he had expected.

After storing the talismans in his Qiankun ring, Zheng Zheng looked up at the sky; the moon was already high. After a quick wash, he went to bed to rest.

Early the next morning, Zheng Zheng took a bus to Wenzhou. On the bus, he hesitated for a while but finally took out his phone and dialed a number, holding it away from his ear.

“Damn it, Zheng Zheng, don’t you know your brother is busy rolling in bed?” As soon as the call connected, a loud voice boomed through the receiver.

Fortunately, Zheng Zheng was prepared; otherwise, his ears would have suffered. Once the noise settled down, he brought the phone back to his ear and smiled, “A Long, don’t be angry. I had no choice but to contact you.”

“Speak. What’s the matter?” A Long sounded obviously unhappy and spoke with a gruff tone.

“Can you accommodate me? I might be in Wenzhou for a few days,” Zheng Zheng said.

“If you don’t mind listening to bed scenes every day, it’s fine for you to stay for a few days or even a few years,” A Long replied with a lascivious laugh.

“Damn, you pervert,” Zheng Zheng said, speechless.

“Life is best under the peony flower; even as a ghost, one is still flirtatious. I’m just like that. So, are you coming or not?” A Long said proudly.

“If you don’t even introduce your performances to others, what can I introduce? Just treat it like watching adult films,” Zheng Zheng joked.

“Damn, you little rascal,” A Long laughed and scolded. “Alright then, come on over.”

After confirming the address, Zheng Zheng hung up the phone. He couldn’t help but chuckle and shake his head. A Long was one of his good buddies from high school, one of the few classmates he shared interests with. They would often play military chess together after class. One of their most glorious moments was staying up until midnight, lighting candles in their blankets for a night battle, only to be caught by the night supervisor the next day, resulting in a public reprimand at the school assembly. From then on, they earned the nickname "Four Chess Gods" throughout the school.

After graduating high school, their contact had gradually decreased, but the bond of friendship remained deep in their hearts.

The bus drove smoothly, and two hours later, it arrived at Wenzhou South Station. Zheng Zheng then took a taxi to the Miaoguo Temple Antique Market.

This place is at the core of the Ouhai District, surrounded by Wenzhou Tower, Jiushan Park, five-star overseas Chinese hotels, and Songtai Tower. On weekends, it’s packed with people; not only do the shops thrive, but even the street vendors form long lines, with countless locals and visitors coming to bargain.

Today, since it wasn’t the weekend, the crowd wasn’t too large. Even so, there were still many stalls in the antique market. Each stall showcased various antique items, vessels, jade, copper coins, paintings, and much more, dazzling the eyes and making it hard to take it all in.

Zheng Zheng had no knowledge of antiques, so he wasn’t very interested. After wandering around casually, he found that the slightly better spots had already been claimed by others, so he could only settle for a remote location. He took out the small cloth stool he had prepared and casually laid down a few talisman papers, then set up an advertisement board, marking the beginning of his business.

As people came and went, whenever someone passed by Zheng Zheng’s stall, they would pause slightly before leaving with mocking expressions. After half a day, not only had he failed to make a sale, but no one even came to ask about his goods. Fortunately, Zheng Zheng had been prepared for this situation; he simply immersed himself in a book he had brought, reading it with great interest.

He was like Jiang Taigong fishing, waiting for those who were willing to come.
