The Extraordinary Path of Cultivation

On the brink of death

On the brink of death

Oct 27, 2024

Su Ning sobbed softly in his arms, her tears quickly soaking his shirt.
In just half an hour, her emotions had taken a rollercoaster ride, fluctuating dramatically. From initial panic to despair and helplessness, she had finally found hope. The mixture of sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy feelings had overwhelmed her. Now, quietly nestled in Zheng Zheng's not-so-broad embrace, listening to his strong heartbeat, her heart suddenly felt a wave of peace. All negative emotions vanished, replaced by a sense of stability and safety.

Zheng Zheng softly murmured a few words, and only then did Su Ning stop her sobbing.
He slowly lifted his head, and the gentle expression on his face was gone, replaced by a fierce killing intent, his eyes gleaming with a dark red light, like a mad beast ready to pounce.
The temperature in the room dropped rapidly to freezing point.
Wu Yunyin shivered, a chill rising from his heart; all lustful thoughts had vanished without a trace, leaving only boundless terror and fear. Just moments ago, he had truly felt a murderous intent. Yes, this young man in front of him really wanted to kill him, to turn him into a cold corpse.

Although Zheng Zheng's face was filled with murderous rage, his anger slowly calmed down.
Su Ning was fine, but he had no intention of letting the culprit go easily. Loosening his arms, he took slow, steady steps toward Wu Yunyin, his expression blank as he said, "Heaven has a way, yet you refuse to walk it; hell has no gates, yet you choose to break in. Wu Yunyin, I've already left you a way out, but you've truly disappointed me."

With every step Zheng Zheng took closer, Wu Yunyin felt as if he were being struck hard with a hammer.
"What do you want?" he forced himself to ask, trying to maintain his composure.
"What do you think?" Zheng Zheng replied with a cold smile, then, like an eagle catching its prey, he effortlessly lifted Wu Yunyin, who weighed over a hundred pounds, off the ground.

"You can't do this to me! My dad is the deputy director of the city planning bureau, my mom works in the civil affairs bureau, my uncle... ah..." Wu Yunyin's words were cut short as he felt himself lose control, being thrown four to five meters away, crashing hard against the wall with a dull thud before collapsing to the ground.

Zheng Zheng approached him expressionlessly, lifted him up again with one hand, and sneered, "Oh, what an impressive background! I'm so scared."
Dazed and dizzy from the fall, Wu Yunyin, once arrogant, now had a pleading look in his eyes, unable to muster a word.
"Tell me, what’s your uncle’s status?" Zheng Zheng asked disdainfully.
"My uncle is the deputy captain of the municipal armed police brigade," Wu Yunyin cautiously glanced at Zheng Zheng, then mustered his courage, "You'd better let me go; otherwise, my uncle will know, and you won’t have an easy time."

"The municipal armed police brigade?" Zheng Zheng clicked his tongue in mock admiration, "That department is something else."
Seeing Zheng Zheng momentarily taken aback, Wu Yunyin felt a surge of confidence and spoke more boldly, "That’s right, you should know what kind of people the armed police are. If you mess with them, it’ll be a big deal. So I advise you to apologize to me. Let's just leave it at that." He glanced at Su Ning in the distance, her pitiful yet slightly angry expression made him gulp, and ultimately, in the face of Zheng Zheng's unexpectedly calm gaze, he refrained from saying anything more extreme.

"Well, you’re right. I should apologize to you," Zheng Zheng surprisingly agreed.
Wu Yunyin felt a wave of frustration; he hadn’t expected this guy to be so useless. If he had known, he would have made more enticing demands. But it was fine; he still had a chance. Feeling relieved, Wu Yunyin straightened his clothes, his eyes a bit smug as he said, "So, how do you want to apologize?"
"Like this," Zheng Zheng replied with a strange smile before suddenly throwing a punch.
"Ah!" Wu Yunyin never expected Zheng Zheng would strike at that moment. He screamed in agony as if his entire insides were being crushed, bile and blood threatening to spill out, rolling on the ground in pain.

"Hehe, is this apology satisfactory?" Zheng Zheng asked expressionlessly as he lifted his foot and stomped down.
With a cracking sound, a bone broke.
"Ah!" Wu Yunyin let out a devastating scream and fainted completely.
Zheng Zheng didn't stop there; he coldly pressed on important pressure points on Wu Yunyin's waist, groin, and abdomen, ruthlessly sealing his energy. From then on, Wu Yunyin would be impotent, utterly becoming a eunuch. Unless someone with higher cultivation than himself intervened, no one could resolve this.

"Bah." After finishing this, Zheng Zheng spat on Wu Yunyin, still dissatisfied, showing his lingering anger. If it weren’t for Su Ning being nearby, he really would have wanted to strip this guy down to his bones.
The lobby manager, who had chased after them, was stunned, his eyes bulging like a dead fish’s, and he suddenly wilted like a frostbitten eggplant, mumbling, "It’s over, it’s all over."
Zheng Zheng stepped forward, yanked Wu Yunyin's hair, and slapped him twice, the sounds crisp and clear.
Wu Yunyin’s face swelled visibly, turning into two large buns, blood pouring from his nostrils and mouth. Zheng Zheng then said coldly, "This isn't over; you will face even harsher punishment."
"Please, no! I know I was wrong; let me go! I’m willing to compensate for all your losses," Wu Yunyin pleaded desperately, having regained consciousness but only thinking of saving his life.
"Sorry, I'm not interested," Zheng Zheng said, raising his fist coldly.
Wu Yunyin felt a chill in his heart, and upon seeing the rapidly approaching fist, he wet his pants, a foul odor rising as he lost control of himself.
Zheng Zheng looked at him with disgust, "What a coward."
"Zheng Zheng, let’s go," Su Ning said, feeling somewhat sympathetic as she watched Wu Yunyin being beaten. Despite feeling relieved, she couldn't bear to watch any longer and tugged at Zheng Zheng.
"Go? We can’t leave yet." Unexpectedly, Zheng Zheng didn’t move but fixed his gaze calmly on the entrance, as if he had an idea.
At that moment, five or six police officers burst in. They immediately drew their batons, surrounding Zheng Zheng and Su Ning to prevent them from escaping.
"Captain Li, you finally made it!" The lobby manager saw his savior arrive, gripping the last straw of hope, excitedly waving his hands as he babbled incoherently.
"Don’t move! Raise your hands!" Captain Li, around forty, had a notably pot-bellied figure with a tight belt. After briefly listening to the lobby manager explain the situation, he stepped in, scanning the area and noticing someone lying motionless on the floor. His expression immediately darkened as he shouted.
