“Wake up! Kai! It’s not looking good for us!” I hear Maka’s voice through the smoke.
I try to open my eyes.
“Shit! Maka, quick, grab Fukai’s legs!” Ramsey sounds like he’s in a panic.
“Ummm… Ramsey! What’s that sound coming from over there?!” Maka asks with a tinge of worry in his voice.
“More trouble, if you ask me!” responds Ramsey.
As I open my eyes, I’m greeted by a scene that you can only behold here in the land of Apo, within the heart of the Deep Jungle. As the ophidia is closing in on us with all three of her heads ready to attack, I can see the poison dripping from the tips of her fangs, her eyes so focused all they can see is their prey. In that same moment, off to the right of us, the giant mammoth spider Oki comes rushing out into the side of the ophidia, tangling the serpent in its mouth while its trunk wraps around the ophidia’s three heads and pins it to the ground.
“This! Is! Freaking! Amazing!” I yell with excitement.
“Who cares about that! Get your lazy ass up! And move! This is our chance to get away from this situation!” Ramsey demands as he begins to run.
“I’m coming!” Maka looks behind himself at me. “Kai, hurry up! We need to get moving!”
“I know! I know! But it’s not everyday you get to see a sight like this! Right, guys?!” I say enthusiastically.
“Now is not the time for this, Fukai! We need to get moving!” Ramsey rebukes.
“Ok! Ok! But I feel like this scene is missing something…” I hit my fist in the palm of my hand. “I know! What this scene needs is a third giant creature! Right, guys?!” There’s no response. “I said, right, guys?!” There’s still no response. “Guys?!” I turn around slowly as the ophidia and Oki struggle to dominate each other right behind me, to discover that soaring right in front of us is a raybird.
“Holy shit! That’s what I’m talking about! This! Is! The-Best-Day-Ever!”
The raybird flies right past us, causing a massive wind storm in its wake that leaves just as quickly as it came. In no time the raybird grabs Oki with its claw and begins to fly with both the ophidia and Oki in hand.
“These are the moments that I live for! And we can only find them here in the land of Apo!” I proclaim while smiling.
“Umm… that’s great and all, but HELP ME, KAI!!!” Maka screams out desperately.
“Yeah, it’s not like we’re in any danger.” Ramsey quips calmly.
I look over my shoulder only to see Ramsey and Maka swept up by the massive vortex of wind caused when the raybird lifted both the ophidia and Oki off the ground.
“Yea, guys, I don’t know what you expect me to do.” I reply as I begin to get sucked into the vortex.
“How the hell did I let you talk me into skipping school today?” Ramsey asks, clearly upset.
“I don’t want to die! Someone heeelllp!” Maka screams as he enters into panic mode.
And as for me, I decide to sit back and enjoy the ride. “I wonder, how could this day get any better?!”
“Idiot!” They both shout synchronously.
