The tires of Lucifer's motorcycle screeched as he pulled into the gas station parking lot, gravel spitting out from beneath the wheels.
He dismounted his bike and stormed toward Asher, who was pacing anxiously near one of the gas pumps.
"Lucifer, I…I'm so fucking sorry, man. Please don't kill me!" Asher held his hands up in submission, his voice quivering as if he were already bracing for a knockout.
"You really are dumber than a bag of rocks, you know that?" Lucifer grabbed the front of Asher's shirt and yanked him closer. "Why the fuck did you even have Angelo with you?!"
"H-he asked to tag along," Asher stammered, his eyes wide with fear. "Said he wanted to study how we moved and get some experience, you know? We stopped here because I needed to refuel. I-I went inside to pay for gas, and I told him to watch the bike. When I came back out, he was gone."
"At no point in this story did I hear where you asked for my permission to take Angelo off the property," Lucifer said, his voice low and dangerous. "And then you had the bright idea of leaving him alone… The same guy who'd probably do anything to go back home!"
Lucifer's grip tightened on Asher's shirt, his knuckles turning white. Asher wasn't the brightest member of the crew, but Lucifer never thought he'd be stupid enough to take Angelo on a joyride without permission.
"Do you have any idea what could happen to him out here?" Lucifer growled, his voice rising with each word. "Did it not once cross your tiny fucking mind that he could run off to the pigs and ruin everything for us?"
"I-I didn't mean…I wasn't trying to get us into any shit, Prez. Honestly. It was just a stupid mistake."
"One that could cost us everything, dumbass!"
Jameson pulled up on his bike, having raced here after Lucifer had given him the heads-up about Angelo running off. He approached cautiously, voice steady.
"Easy, Lou." Jameson placed a hand on Lucifer's shoulder. "We'll find him. He couldn't have gone far."
Lucifer shrugged off Jameson's attempt to calm him, his rage building as he turned his attention back to Asher. "If anything happens to him, I swear to God, I'll fucking kill you myself."
Just as Jameson was about to drag Lucifer away from Asher, a familiar voice cut through the tension.
"Um, what's going on here?" Angelo, long black hair framing his anxious brown eyes, appeared from around the corner of the gas station carrying bags of fast food.
Everyone froze, the air thick with uncertainty as they waited for Lucifer's reaction.
"You!" Lucifer released Asher, shoving him away roughly as he marched over to Angelo. He grabbed the boy's arm, his grip tight enough to bruise. "Where the fuck were you?" Lucifer nearly yelled, relief and anger warring in his voice. "Speak!"
Angelo blinked, seemingly oblivious to the danger he had put himself, and Asher, in.
"I-I saw a Wendy's on the way in and wanted to get some food," he explained, holding up the bags. "I've been craving junk food for weeks, but you won't let me order takeout because you don't want strangers coming to the clubhouse. What else was I supposed to do?"
"Oh, I don't know. How about asking for my fucking permission?" Lucifer snapped.
"You weren't around!" Angelo retorted, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "But you're supposed to be my master, right? Asher isn't the one holding my leash, so how else was I supposed to get your permission? Telepathically? I don't exactly have your phone number."
The word 'Master' falling from Angelo's lips sent a spark of heat through Lucifer's body, momentarily throwing him off balance. He studied Angelo's face, his anger beginning to dissipate as images of his pet crawling toward him, naked and leashed, short-circuited his brain.
Jameson cleared his throat, breaking the heavy silence that had descended over the group. "Cars are pulling in. Let's not make a scene. We should get going."
"Right." Lucifer drew in a deep breath, his grip on Angelo's arm loosening slightly. "You're riding back with me," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.
There would be consequences later, and more discussions about the rules, but for now, Lucifer needed to reestablish order. That meant keeping Angelo close.
"Fine," Angelo muttered, and despite the defiance in his voice, he followed Lucifer without further protest.
