The mortals called it ‘Samhain’ or ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ and had taken to a tradition of what they called ‘guising’ to try to trick the lesser demons into thinking they were one of them.
For her, the Queen of Carnality, it was beneath her interest as she derived pleasures of the season by tormenting lesser or other demons close in rank and power to her and had done so since times long forgotten by mortals together with her soul-shadow.
The very one currently watching her writhe in torment on the floor with the same twisted smile that she had loved for an eternity.
Until that night.
When she had arrived at the dwellings of the Sleuthians, a lower-higher clan of demons known for their stealth, unmatched agility and surveying prowess, she saw the entire clan had been assassinated and sitting on a pile of disfigured bodies and bones was one lone demon.
She had heard the rumours, usually as a source of jealousy but also excitement from her soul-shadow at potentially having a worthy rival to best, however just one look at him and she knew, could feel in her loins that he was powerful in his wickedness and brutality and he sensed the same in her in an instant.
It wasn’t long before she took to his bed.
The one rule that bound them all in the demon realm was ‘only the strong rule’ and so did her allegiance to the strongest for the first time in an eternity.
It also wasn’t long before they were betrayed by his closest aide.
They had both underestimated the potency of jealousy, which could only be felt by those ‘lesser’ than and neither of them had any reason to be jealous of anyone.
Which
had been their downfall.
She didn’t notice it in her soul-shadow either or that it would prove to be a source
of motivation for him.
They sat up in bed to face him watching them. He knew in a bout that he would
lose and so her lover had been paralysed by his closest aide with poison that
was served unknowingly to him earlier in the day. She felt the quiet hum of her
soul-shadow’s anger, for the first time directed at her and she knew she
wouldn’t be able to beat him without her dagger. He had deliberately waited and
timed to catch her at her weakest, which could have never happened without the
betrayal of her lover’s aide to dispel all detection spells in place.
He walked up to her, grabbing her chin, smiling that twisted smile that made
her loins grow wet and heady with lust but also… with an unfamiliar sensation.
“Fear… they call it.” He said to answer the question in her eyes.
“It was also new to me due to your lover’s presence. Unfamiliar and quite a distasteful
sensation but I thought to gift you with the same experience, my love.
However…” He squeezed her jaw until she winced in pain. “Just torturing or
killing you would be too easy. No one has ever dared to betray me and that will
cost you dearly…”
She heard her name being screamed out by her lover paralysed behind her as she
fell to her side on the bed, darkness beginning to consume her senses.
The same kind of all-consuming darkness that threatened to rob her senses now,
but the screaming was her own. The pain was her own as the searing, burning
brand on her neck that had been causing her to choke had finally transformed
into a heavy metal chain choker, it’s weight keeping her pressed to the ground
in her weakened state.
Her name however was called on a low, mocking tone.
“Eliset~ Eliset~ My beautiful soul-shadow, oh how I’ve longed for this day.”
She coughed as she was forced to sit up against the concrete wall of the alleyway
and forced to see him sitting across her, one arm resting on his left leg
propped up and framing her. She noticed her arms and legs and felt the longer
fullness of her hair dishevelled around her. Her skin had returned to its
original dark olive tone with a red sheen that matched the fiery red that her
eyes must have also reverted back to.
She was the Queen of Carnality, a higher demon lusted and feared over for over
a legion of time.
And
he was her soul-shadow, bound in depravity to the King of Carnage, Trilios.
However, she now fully understood the punishment for her betrayal that he had
inflicted on her.
He had made her mortal and stolen her memories.
For
this part year, she had been the human woman, Elise.
She had learnt what it meant to be human without realising that she was never
one in the first place. She had learnt and gained human emotions. Good, neutral
and bad, something that now started to well up in her heart like a ticking bomb
she couldn’t control. As her memory was resorted, her mind was assaulted with
processing the entire last year before her revere was broken with a jerk from
her chain choker.
“Trick…” She noticed her hand being guided between Trilos legs, her palm being
pressed firmly against his erection, tall, full and proud, fully exposed in the
open fly of his leather slacks. His twisted grin deepened. “Or treat?”
She
felt her lions grow heavy in response but also a new sensation.
She recoiled back in disgust and took her hand away before her body shook with
the grave realisation of what this meant. The Queen of Carnality knew deep in
her soul exactly what this meant and her newly gained human emotions exploded
within, causing her to scream in renewed torment and a new source of grief.
Guilt.
Trilios watched her wail and scream in agony and despair on the floor smugly
and started to verbalise the thoughts she knew she was having. She could feel
the loss of the souls that had been taken by him. By her. Everyone she had
touched at the parade or not this past her had been unknowingly marked by her.
Her friends at the hospice. All the brave patients old and new who were waiting
to meet their end with dignity and in peace.
Her
fiancé… Souls above she thought, her fiancé.
The loss of not just one, but two men she had loved at the hands of her
soul-shadow was too much and she wished her heart would literally break in two
to match the torture of emotionally having her heart ripped in the same way.
She
knew, could feel they were no longer alive.
“I thought it quite amusing that these foolish mortals think it jovial to guise
up and mimic us on this particular day, that I thought, why not return the favour
as your new lover for tonight?” He chuckled, amused by his own wiliness.
“But of course for your original transgression, it wasn’t enough to just see to
your torment myself, no no… I had to teach you, my love, what it means to try
to rob one of what means the world to them… which is you. So I turned you
mortal. These human beings are a very complex species, a walking mass of contradiction
and so weak to their emotions. As you know, you in particular gain strength
through carnage, death, destruction.
“Torment brings you pleasure my love and I know you feel it now as well as pain
you’ve never experienced.
“The
pain of those whose lives you’ve stolen.
“However
I thought, in our realm it matters not for that is the order of things.
“However,
to the lives of those that met you as you masqueraded for an entire year,
yeeees. Those human emotions could break you I was told and it's been a true pleasure to witness.
Oh don’t worry”, he added with a chuckle to her angry tear-filled eyes now facing him from the ground. “You’ll get to see him again soon. But yes… this mortal celebration of Halloween truly serves our higher selves quite well. I thank you my love for the incredible amount of souls you’ve gathered and fed to me tonight. It almost makes me want to... forgive you.”
He pulled her back up by the chain, close enough for their lips to be a breath’s way in distance. His hand gently caressed her face and trailed down her body, over her chest, down her dress and underneath the skirt. She knew human garments wouldn’t get in the way of what they both knew he sought of her. She grunted as she felt his fingers pierce her hot and wet below. It was the final step of the ritual that would fully revert her back to her original form, back to her namesake. She looked at him defiantly, her anger adding a new intensity to her crimson eyes that he had never seen in her and he laughed before his own eyes turned deadly cold and his lips brushed hers once more.
“Almost.” He thrust in deeper to convey his anger before returning to pleasure her.
“No, my love, you shall keep the gift I’ve given you of human emotions when we return back, for that will surely strip you of your power and reverence.
“You’re weak.
“Will never defeat me.”
He felt her breath quicken as she drew closer to her climax. She trembled and laid her head down on his shoulder, allowing him to add the final word as a whispered threat into her ears.
“And forever mine.”
She hiccupped and sobbed as her pleasure rose.
She thought of the greater pleasure she had experienced as a human. The joy of friendship, teamwork and of love. A love not rooted in terror and power as she had known, but of safety and absolute vulnerability and trust. So innocent and pure that unknown to Trilios, leaving these memories and emotions in her was going to be his downfall.
She swore that she’d end the King of Carnage’s reign over the demon realm, even if it cost her, her life. However for now, as she screamed through her climax, pleasure washing and flooding her body with her original power, as well as the grief in her heart intensifying at the same time, she sobbed. She wept for the souls that fell tonight as their lives were swiftly stolen from their mortal bodies during the parade and in other parts of the town or areas of whoever had touched her. It was bound to be a true horror Halloween story for the mortals, one that would never be able to be explained and haunt hundreds, if not thousands for many years to come.
She wept for their loss but also vowed to avenge them all and find a way to heal the sorrows of those left behind.
Her power flowing back in her veins felt good. She was a queen for a reason and her shattered confidence gently soothed her newly tormented heart.
She opened her eyes and saw they had returned back to their realm, on the floor of the great hall of their abode. Trilios placed a kiss on her forehead, stood and walked away to leave her there.
She didn’t know how the next few days would unfold but for now, she knew she was forever a changed being.
She would end it all.
