6am He wakes up Straight to the mirror He wears no makeup Yet he paints on a smile His eyes scream out in pain Yearning for someone to notice But his emotions are prisoners of his mind Trapped behind a mask that says 'I'm fine'. A splash of water on the face Leaves not a trace Happy is all he wants to be Because weakness is for the weak 'That will not be me' He thinks to himself as he tends his teeth. 8.20am He's in school Already stressed and feeling like a fool He wonders if anyone will notice But no one does He's alone with his feelings of dismay A fake smile on his face Saying, 'I'm ok' As he walks through the halls Chatting with his friends Never standing out A part of the crowd All feelings of doubt Left behind the bars of his lying mouth. 4pm He's finally home Agony Exhaust Shame Feeling completely worn Another day wasted Lies and deceit Pretending to be at peace Just to put others at ease. The mask falls Just like his tears As he settles back into bed Emotions left swirling in his head.
