Earlier today, Ersweld Included, the production company behind Bōøbol's Betteraves & Betrayals, announced the return of soap opera icon Daphne Dutrignon to the show. Dutrignon's character, Adele Betterave, was last seen at the end of the 50th season, just like Dutrignon herself who hasn't made a public appearance since then. Her return to Betteraves & Betrayals will mark her first acting role in over two decades.
Dutrignon has long said goodbye to the noise of fame. She retreated into her British Columbia home twenty years ago, a house said to have more than twenty bedrooms. There's no picture of the house available online and it is said that only her agent knows where the mansion is located. Her return to the show that made her famous would also mean a return to society for the hermit actress who said goodbye to fame and public outings after her husband's death, in 2XX2.
When asked about Dutrignon's sudden change of heart, Ermet Ersweld said over the phone, "I can't take any credit for it. It all goes to our incredible showrunner, Maple Defleuvier. She's, I mean, she's incredible, you know? I don't know how she did it, but she got through to her. It's just... yeah, incredible."
When reached for comments, Defleuvier issued a statement that said, "While I am beyond ecstatic for Daphne's return, there is not much I am allowed to share for privacy reasons. We want to make sure Adele's return to Betteraves & Betrayals is done right and on a timeline that will honour Ms. Dutrignon's life-long commitment to our show."
Speculations are ongoing as to how and why Daphne Dutrignon has decided to come back. When asked for specifics, Ersweld was pretty evasive and redirected most questions to Defleuvier. Her statement was short and didn't address any of them. Bōøbol representatives were reached out for comments and provided none.
Updated two hours ago: correction—Ms. Dutrignon's house supposedly has twenty bedrooms and not nineteen and a half.
