Val
It’d been a couple of uneventful days, she’d been slowly trying to push her way through her art block. Alas, when one has a mystery to solve, progress quickly becomes an uphill battle. Cats had not appeared haphazardly in her home since the first time it had happened, it was disappointing to say the least.
Valorie had always loved mystery stories of every genre. It didn’t matter much to her if the characters had a happy or sad ending if the plot had enough depth. She found it satisfying to be able to make accurate guesses about the path the storyline would walk. But she hardly cared whether the path ended at a beautiful castle or a jagged cliff.
Val stared blankly at her kitchen ceiling as she brewed yet another cup of coffee. A few minutes of silence passed before Valorie realized it was too quiet. The coffee maker had stopped making the dying sounds it always did. She looked over at it and gasped, her coffee maker had vanished into thin air.
Valorie groaned, despite the fact that she’d wished for something crazy to happen, she did not mean that she wanted to lose her caffeine privileges.
