Alec
Alec sat at the island counter in his kitchen, he was taking his lunch break with a sparse sandwich and a purring cat on his lap. He hummed to himself as he sat there with his whole wheat bread and lunch meat that had probably sat in the back of his fridge for too long. It only tasted vaguely rancid though so Alec brushed it off.
As he sat there petting the vibrating ball of fur on his lap, he noticed a storm brewing out in the sky. It had been very dry lately, so he hadn’t thought to check the weather; not that it was always accurate anyway. Alec paused, suddenly realizing some of the cats were out of the house.
He quickly got to his feet, effectively disturbing the small child on his lap. Alec began calling the cats inside, not that it did much since the ones that wanted to come inside were already crowded around the door.
A few of the others watched from the branches of trees that they had climbed into; clearly judging the cowardice of their fellow felines as they retreated away from the imminent rain. Alec knew they’d be scratching at the door later though, meowing their apologies after being soaked through by the storm.
After returning to his sandwich that was getting finished by the cats, Alec noticed a sputtering sound, he looked around, confused. He quickly located the sound, it was coming from a creaking red coffee maker that slowly brewed a cup of coffee in the corner of his counter. Alec frowned, dumbfounded. Where did this coffee maker come from?
He walked up to it and inspected the machine, he knew that it was certainly not his because he would never disgrace his kitchen with such a depressing piece of machinery. Alec very quickly got annoyed at the creaking sounds and unplugged it. He picked up the half full mug under it and inspected it. It was a matte black mug with a gray foot and lip. Alec frowned, he didn’t own dark dishes.
He slightly taste tested the coffee, it was disgusting. He spat it out and took a long sip of his better coffee for comfort. Immediately after, Alec felt bad for the owner of the disgusting coffee, so he decided to make a proper cup of coffee for them. After a few minutes he had made a sweet latte with properly frothed milk. He smiled happily at the mug and placed it carefully back on the foot of the coffee maker.
Immediately after he put it down, the machine disappeared, Alec yelped and jumped back, nearly stepping on a couple of cats in the process. Alec gripped at his chest, his heartbeat fast as he took a few calming deep breaths. He sank to the floor and picked up a cat for support.
