For someone featured on the cover, I think we know remarkably little about Atlas' motivations. We know he is deeply obsessed with Philo. We know he is socially awkward. We know he is a bit paranoid. Atlas has hinted that his long held dream to be arch mage is about having agency over his own life, and yet we also know he despises Vasilis and will do anything to - at least in his own mind - separate himself from Vasilis. He clearly has a barely restrained temper - he even lashed out at Philo in his paranoid outburst in the carriage on the way to the palace when he thought his plans were under threat. He's barely holding everything together it seems, and is a pressure cooker at risk of blowing up at any moment. If there was someone he could talk to, or get therapy, that would be helpful, but at the moment it looks like we just have to hold tight and see what his plans are and who gets taken out along the way. I would take a few steps back if I were nearby though.
