As soon as he said this, a spear flew and hit the young man. The spear struck the young man’s head, and in that moment, he died. The first young man, unable to understand what had happened, looked at his friend who had fallen to the ground, not turning to the direction the spear had come from. Out of the darkness, a huge dog charged at the young man. The dog looked massive and terrifying, its teeth were that of a monstrous creature. When it bit the young man, he screamed as loud as he could. The villagers heard this. In the main street of the village, the young men gathered and grasped whatever they could find. A pack of giant dogs began to enter the village; Gans remembered the name of these dogs — they were the hellish Baskerville hounds. Everyone tried to hit the dogs with whatever they had in their hands, but it had no effect on the dogs. Gans killed several of them with his two swords. While one of the young men was being attacked by a dog, Gans saved him.
Gans:
“Are you alright?” he asked, extending his hand to help the young man to his feet. At that moment, a spear flew and pierced the young man’s heart. Blood sprayed out like a fountain. Gans was horrified by this. With fear, he barely managed to turn around. Gans saw the Baskerville approaching into the village. The Baskerville looked like a high-class nobleman from the Middle Ages, dressed in fine clothes, with two long horns protruding from its head. Gans took a combat stance. The Baskerville slowly approached Gans with each step, and Gans felt as if with each one, his body would be torn into pieces by the demon. So engrossed was Gans dealing with the dogs that he hadn’t even thought to look around. He was surrounded by the dead, all of them being devoured by the dogs. Some dogs had even entered the houses, eating the children and women inside. Almost half of the village was burning. Finding courage within himself, Gans charged at the demon. The demon easily dodged his attacks, countering Gans with strikes of its own. Gans gathered all his strength and struck down from above. When the Baskerville raised its spear to deflect the blow, the spear broke in half. Gans thought, “I am free from the demon’s weapon; now I must kill it.” However, he was gravely mistaken. Gans overlooked the demon for just a second. At that moment, he heard something fall to the ground. Gans looked down in astonishment. It was his right hand. He was screaming in pain. The Baskerville kicked Gans in the stomach, knocking him down. Gans did not understand where this spear had come from.
Gans:
“Where did that come from? I just broke your spear!” he said.
Baskerville:
“Humans, how foolish, so weak. You are good for nothing but to be our food,” he said as he lifted the spear to Gans’ chest, right over his heart. Gans felt he was close to death.
As Baskerville was about to thrust the spear, he suddenly stopped. Gans did not understand what was happening. Baskerville lowered the spear and looked towards the end of the main street. Gans, unable to comprehend what he was looking at, turned to see as well. His gaze fell on Attu, who was standing at the end of the street. Baskerville sensed the intent emanating from Attu even from a distance. He whistled, calling all the dogs to him. Attu had no idea what the demon was planning. Fear was the only emotion visible on Attu’s face. When Baskerville whistled again, all the dogs began to run toward Attu. Attu found himself frozen in place. At that moment, Aurora ran up, shouting "Run!" as she grabbed Attu's hand to pull him away. Seeing this, Baskerville chased after them. Aurora was running with all her strength, frequently looking back at her son. They plunged deeper into the forest. Aurora was thinking about jumping into the river to escape. They were running with all their might, the dogs almost catching up to them. Aurora and Attu drew closer to the river.
Aurora said, "Just a little bit more, please, my God! Just a few more steps, Attu," as she looked back at her son. She saw the demon preparing to throw the spear at them from behind. When they had just two steps left to reach the river, Aurora suddenly stopped. Attu did not understand why his mother had stopped. Aurora moved in front of Attu. Confused, Attu turned around too, and in that moment, Aurora pushed Attu towards the river. As Attu stumbled into the water, he saw the spear that had pierced through his mother’s belly. Witnessing the tears in her eyes and the fading signs of life on her face, Attu shouted with all his might, “Mother!" Filled with sorrow, he plunged into the river.
