Once the initial impact of Teres's blow had passed, Ada flew several miles across the Surge Kingdom. His body scraped and tumbled against the cloudy surface, slamming against it in a variety of awkward and painful positions. After some time had passed, Ada finally rolled to a halt. He harshly gritted his teeth, beginning to touch his now flowerless body.
Teres tumbled a little himself from how hard he had hit Ada and due to the height he fell from. Though he quickly was able to get back to his feet. Steam rose from his fist. He shook it a bit, before reaching for some candy, again realizing that he had none left. He shook his head, then staring in the direction that Ada has been hit. "Well, after that, the big guy's attention is gonna be solely focused straight on us if he somehow survived the blow. So I'm gonna cross my fingers and hope that it took him out."
Nix melted an icy forcefield that she had created around herself and Illume. Both storm blade wielder's soldiers had been scattered across the area, and were slowly picking themselves up, regaining their senses. "My oh my.... just what on earth was that..?" She questioned.
Illume replied. "Hm. I do not know for sure, but I believe the attack may have been initiated by one of those three contractors who offered their assistance with this battle. Unless someone new has arrived, they are the only ones who could have unleashed such an unfamiliar attack."
"Mmm.. oh I see. Well then, if it was one of them, then I'm surprised to be able to say that they're a trio worthy of standing alongside us Surge. I'd really love to meet them."
"Let us make sure that this blow truly was the end of our enemy first, Nix. Do not get ahead of yourself just yet."
Verlena and Esca soared through the sky together, waiting for the dust to settle so they could see the current state of the battle.
Once the view became clear enough, Ada could be seen, having already returned to the site of the main battlefield. He clenched his stomach, heavily panting.
Remaining calm, Teres locked his gaze on Ada. "Still alive... huh? Guess I'll look at the bright side and be happy we at least damaged our angelic buddy. We know he isn't invincible now, and that's huge."
Nix and Illume immediately went to attack, but were stopped when Ada stamped a massive blast of dust in their direction. They leapt backward, just avoiding the dust. Before they could take further action, Ada swooped his huge wings forward, flying high up into the air, gazing down at everyone present. His body violently shook, now being absent of any of its floral properties.
"Armored man donning the large coat, what you have done today will forever be locked within my memory." Ada began, his voice booming across the landscape. "To have caused me, an ethereal being, such catastrophic damage is not a feat to be taken lightly. The fact that human beings who wield such power, have interfered with us so early on, is enlightening information. This is not a planet as unprepared for catastrophe as I initially believed. There must be plenty of entities powerful enough to match us if we've encountered one if not more, so quickly. We must begin strategizing better than this. Now that I ponder on it more, we were foolish to ever think we could simply present ourselves to such noteworthy locations, and use brute strength alone to destroy them in such a vast world. Tch..." he roughly gripped his arm in frustration. "I can no longer risk remaining here and dying. But moving forward... we will be fully prepared for any and all possibilities." Following this statement, Ada flew away at an incomprehensible speed.
At this point, the lightning and frost Surge soldiers had regained their senses. Having watched a frustrated Ada flee, they raised their arms up in triumph, yelling to celebrate their victory. Excited chatter filled the air as they gestured and talked joyously among themselves.
Nearby, Esca landed the ship next to Teres. Verlena leapt out, and quickly approached him. "...Teres, are you feeling alright?? That was quite the blow you unleashed, and you fell from a considerable height. I need to make sure you are feeling fine."
Teres patted Verlena's head, replying, "No need to worry, nothin' that happened left a scratch on me. Thankfully, I've got an ability that doesn't tear my body apart no matter how much power I use. And my armor protected me from the fall. So I've got no issues. And how about the two of you? Make it through that whole thing okay?"
Verlena nodded. "I am alright. We were able avoid the blast thanks to Esca giving it all she had to maneuver our ship out of harms way. And as for Esca herself, though she doesn't seem to be exactly pleased with the situation, she appeared to be okay when I asked, already beginning to recover from how much mist she had to pump into our ship. Am I correct, Esca?"
"Yes, yes... I've recovered from it all well enough." Esca confirmed. "If you don't include all of the permanent trauma the two of you continue to put me through. Physically, I'm doing just fine. Barely, though. We won this battle by the skin of our teeth! And the demonic angel former-flower man is not even dead!! Not to mention, he alongside his entire crew are going to be on the lookout for us now!"
"Guess that means we've got no choice but to continue to pursue this situation then." Said Teres.
"Not until we at the very least take a break!" Replied Esca. "Not only do we need to cash in our last two contracts, but obviously we need a night to recover as well. If I can even sleep knowing we now have a target on our backs, and could be killed at any moment by this lovely new terrorist group!"
Verlena said, "Yes, I agree that it's about time we pause, and focus on regaining our strength. Facing such powerful foes with little rest would be a good recipe for getting ourselves killed. Our situation is not the same as when we take on normal contracts, we must be at our best at all times. We also cannot proceed regardless until we hear from the prosthetic being again. No matter when he gets back to us though, our next course of action will be to focus on recovery."
"Ah, wonderful. Thank you Verlena! If I'm unable to sleep, at least we'll get to be somewhere normal for a while." Stated Esca.
Teres added, "And be somewhere where I can get a restock of my snacks. Damn. Now that I'm thinkin' about it, takin' this stop is more important than I thought."
Esca responded, "That's exactly right Teres. This rest stop has proven to be incredibly important for a wide variety of reasons. So let's get going! But first and foremost, I suppose we'd better say goodbye to our cloudy comrades here. I can't say that I will miss them, but-.."
A huge lightning strike blasted close to the trio. From where the smoke rose, Illume stood alongside Nix.
"Oh! Well perfect! Electric Man and Blizzard Woman! Just the duo we were looking for!!" Said Esca. "So you see, with our job and all being complete, defeating that demonic angel thing and saving the cloud kingdom, we were going to begin making preparations to head on out and get some rest following such a grueling battle. Meeting you all was quite the fulfilling and... interesting experience, but we shall now take our leave. Farewell my friends!!"
"Please, hold on just a moment." Illume said. "The attack that successfully scared off that Angel bastard, so it was indeed one of you three who unleashed it?"
"Yep, that's right. It was our good friend Teres here." Esca leaned on Teres's shoulder. "You see, Teres has the astounding ability to hit harder, the bigger the last bell he rung was. So that huge bell you have within your city sure came in handy, I must say."
"Mm. Yes I see." Illume glanced at Nix, then back at Verlena and Esca. "And do the two of you have similarly powerful capabilities?"
Esca crossed her arms confidently. "We do indeed my friend. In fact, we're quite a well known and popular group down on the surface because of all that we've accomplished together using our spectacular abilities."
"So she remembers she has powers when she gets the opportunity to brag about it." Teres commented.
Illume suddenly rose his voice. "Well, alright then! This is spectacular news!"
"Oh..? Why so?" Questioned Esca.
Harshly clenching a fist, Illume replied. "As you all witnessed first hand, a member of this strange organization killed my dear brother Gael right in front of me, and yet he still lives. ...This is not an occurrence that I am able to look past. Even once this angelic bastard has been slain, it will still not be enough. We must bring down and tear this terrible group apart completely!! We must kill every last member in cold blood, as they did to our dear Gael, who was the Wielder of the Wind Storm Blade for six thousand years!! He was often an annoying man, as you three also witnessed briefly, heh... but I did care for him deeply. So I will leave Brelec temporarily, in order to travel alongside the three of you. Yes, that's correct. Until this situation has been resolved, I... would like to join you!!!"
