PROLOGUE
Thousands of years ago mythical beasts and monsters ran rampant, magic was everywhere, but humans didn’t like all mystical, they felt threatened by it, not wanting to their realm to go to war, Gandr the Queen of the gods, and the rest of the gods made a new realm for magic, Laylus. Humans now lived blissfully unaware.
CHAPTER 1
Joel
Joel had overcome so much.
So much to get to this point, he ran away from home, he lived on the road while being hunted down by beasts and he found another who had been doing the same: Daniel, and now together they would finally get to Laylus, the two would join a demi-god guild, where they would be safe. Joel had his worries, he worried because that the two hadn’t unlocked their demi-god abilities, that they wouldn’t be accepted, but they were closer than ever, the S.S Theseus would arrive in a few hours and the two were resting in a cave in California.
California was busy this month, people were waiting for the S.S Theseus, the one and only way too Laylus. Though to be fair it was busy most of the time, Joel had been here a couple times when he was on the run.
The sun crept into the cave through Joel’s eyelids, Joel woke up, but Daniel had his head turned away from the opening of the cave, Joel felt bad for him, today was going to be rough, “Wake up! We have to get to the docks!” Joel exclaimed.
“Unnnnnn! Five more minutes?” Daniel was acting off.
“Come on Daniel!” Daniel overturned and held his hand up, Joel grabbed it and Pulled Daniel to his feet, Daniel slumped his head on Joel’s shoulder and wrapped his arms around him. Joel’s eyes widened and he felt himself blushing. “We have to go!” Joel said. Daniel pulled away, even after sleeping he was beautiful, Joel didn’t know how he done it. He had wild blonde hair that shimmered in the sun, he wore a tight grey shirt and had his arrows slung over his shoulder, he wore black jeans. He had blue eyes and was surprisingly tall, he also had blotches of sand and dirt across his face. Daniel bent over and slung his bow over his back and put his black hoodie on. The cave was nestled in the sand with a narrow doorway out to the beach. Daniel went over to the ocean and dosed his face in water, Joel didn’t feel like he needed to do the same, he put on his black-leatherjacket, and a sheath which held his scimitar. The two climbed out of the cave, the S.S Theseus looked about two miles out, it was too early, the docks were crowded, filled to the brim, “CRAP!” Joel commented.
“NO! we have to make it this time!” Daniel said with eagerness Joel only heard a few times in his voice. Joel heard cogs shift and chains rattle, “More automatons!” He yowled. He turned his head to see copper robot Skeletons, they had glowing yellow eyes and looked like copper skeletons with gears in them, (Automaton: machine) it had claws and cogs in its chest that turned, chains rattling with them. There were about six of them, Daniel pulled back an arrow at the Skeletons,
“Fresh out of aurum Arrows!” He said.
The automatons were six foot tall so you can imagine the Suprise when one of them dashed at Joel throwing him further onto the beach, that same automaton kept charging for him, “LOOK OUT!” Joel called as a copper forearm flew toward Daniel, who ducked down, Joel climbed to his feet and un-sheathed his scimitar, Joel tried to make distance from the automaton, but it clunked toward him, Joel stepped further out into the beach, but the automaton followed, every step calculated. Joel’s attention was took when he saw Daniel being carried away, Joel dashed at the automaton in front of him but its jaw dropped and he heard a “WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRR!” as fire uncurled from its mouth, Joel stepped back and the Skeleton neared Joel glanced back at Daniel who had managed to slip out of the grasp of the automatons but they chased after him, promptly holding him to the floor. Were they going to make it? Or were they just going to have to wait even longer to get to Laylus. Joel suddenly charged forward sheathing his scimitar, the fire stopped spinning and retracted back into the automaton’s innards, Joel tackled the automaton placing his hands on the head of the automaton and the glow in its started to go faint as the copper turned green. “AGHHHH!” Joel screamed a battle cry which caught the attention of the other skeletons, again he readied his scimitar, four of the automatons braced, Joel charged in, “GO FOR THE CHAINS!” Daniel called; two automatons stepped forward and threw their fists at Joel, Joel side stepped to the right of the one on the right, he slashed his blade across the elbow of the skeleton and sparks flew off hitting the automaton in the face, its fore arm slammed into Joel’s chest sending him staggering, there was a small notch in its elbow, Joel ran and slid below the point of view of the skeleton, and struck the chains of the automaton, it jerked forward and lit fire as its head clattered to the sand, Daniel slipped his sandals off and started to control, some sand to whack the skeletons that held him down. He jumped beside Joel, Daniel nocked a few arrows into the ribs of two the further away Automatons which quickly broke them, the last two ran toward them, Danile lunged forward and little bunches of sand started flying into the automaton pelting him, the sand plugged the automaton up and it crumbled to the floor, Joel threw his scimitar at the chains, it shattered the chains and the automaton broke. Joel couldn’t believe it; did he just unlock his demi-god power? Did Daniel just use his earth magic multiple times during a fight successfully?
The two thirteen-year-olds had no time to discus, they bolted for the docks, Joel kept running ignoring everything. “WAIT JOEL! WAIT!” Joel halted.
“WHAT?!” He demanded.
“Don’t you think its weird he just sent a few automatons when we’re about to board the S.S Theseus! Daniel asked. “It’s like he’s not even trying!” That was alright with Joel who continued running.
