While taking steps through the hallways, I couldn't help but wonder what “special” class could I possibly be assigned to. The sounds of footsteps echoed in the air, giving a sense that Lad was taking me to a more excluded part of the hallway for only certain students and teachers. Looking to my right, I saw paintings of people standing by all kinds of machinery from small to big with looks of pride on their faces. While on my left, the artwork captured the faces of brave souls fighting different types of monsters the range of beasts spawning in cold terrors to the creatures molding in violent flames. This pulled in my interest.
I could only wonder what their stories were and how they ended in such a brutal brawl. Were they trying to save innocent lives nearby and ran into trouble? Were they ambushed by these frightening creatures? I didn’t know the true meaning behind their tales, but there is one meaning that everyone could agree on when taking a glance at them: they were warriors.
“Ah, I see you have taken a liking to our portraits. They are based on each principle that used to run the academy if you didn’t know.” Lad said politely before pointing upwards with a cheeky smile. “If you look up, you might even find my own here.” “Woah! How long has this school been around again?” I question with shock with my view being filled with murals lining the halls from above. Some of them were even being hung off the ceiling like stars floating around in the night. Lad only let out a soft chuckle and gave small gestures to keep following behind in return for my words.
What felt like forever, Lad stopped at a golden and brown-colored door. Above the door, there was a stone sculpture of a book resting on its frame while a sharp blade hovered over its cover. Guess this is the end of my journey. My fate was now going to be wasting time being stuck to a wooden plank and being fed knowledge that sent my mind rotting away. I turned over to see Lad already walking away with that same smile but turned sharp with joy. This man either really enjoys seeing students suffer or just can’t stop smiling.
“I will see you later, Kaipo. I hope to see great things come out of you.” Out of all the people who are a bit mean to me in this town, it’s a bit of fresh air to see someone who isn’t rude to me. But it is still a drawback from being sent into whatever class this. Matter of fact, I should get going inside and undercover the outstanding mystery class before me.
My hand pushed the door to the side and the class was just as I imagined it, yet it wasn’t. There were desks placed in rows next to each other, but there were only about six desks. It was unusual to me since the classroom was big too and there were few people inside. The five students' faces in the room showed only boredom as they tried not to fall into dreamland. One of them took a peak over towards me before slowly sitting up, sending yawns into the air.
“Wow, I didn't think they would put Kaipo in here with us, guys,” she said between her yawns. Another student, sitting behind, looked up at me before resting back down as he responded back to her with an annoyed and tired tone. “I don’t care. I won’t be caring until someone tells me what this class is.” “Wow, no one knows what this class is for,” I spoke in disbelief and sat down on a desk next to him, thinking of falling into the other realm of dreams. Each of the students picked up their head and nodded their head at the same time as if I couldn’t get a simple “no”.
What felt like minutes turned into hours as the room went quieter and my mind raced to find anything remotely interesting. But that was only hope and just like my search where there was both nothingness.
Knock! Knock! Knock! The door gently slid open with a voice from outside before the full figure stepped in.
“Good morning students, I’m truly sorry that I took so long to get here. The funny thing is that I took a wrong turn when entering the hallways, walked into the wrong classroom and then had a bit of a heated argument with the teacher there. But they kindly pointed me in the right direction and here I am.”
Jeez, this guy is a full-blown beast! His voice sounded so soft and polite yet his body said he eats bricks for breakfast and punches sea beasts when the sun rises. I’m one hundred percent sure that when he got into that argument, he must have scared that teacher to death as well. In fact, he literally looks like a dragon that is ready to knock down anything in his way and his scales are light blue like snow. Well, he’s a Reptilen after all, judging by his looks. Vidor did tell me once that they are the race that is closely related to the most beastly predators on the planet. I have seen plenty of them before, but none that are insanely ripped.
“Time for introductions. My name is Sourn Kowen, but you may call me Mr. Kowen and there aren't enough words in my mind to express how much I’m filled with joy to be teaching the wonders of the world and how to find your inner selves.” Mr Kowen spoke with a grateful tone while his stomping towards the chalkboard, woken the rest of the class up.
“No need to tell me your names, I already know them. But I bet everyone is dying to know what this class is about, yes? The point of this class is to unlock your hidden potential hidden inside and I have reports of each and every one of you having trouble with either your personalities or powers,” He spoke calmly as his tail swiftly wrapped around a piece of chalk and started drawing what I assumed was the lesson for today on the board. “Now then, let's get class started this morning.”
