“Wait, who? Sorry but I’m kind of new in town so I don’t really know anyone here yet,” said Carmen, acting as if she didn’t know him.
Yeah it’s not like she didn’t literally create him like a goddamn god and placed him into the world just last week and knows everything about him. Yeah it’s not like she wrote everything about him.
Yeah….
Carmen just felt lucky she took an “Acting 1” class for her last year of high school since acting clueless about her very own world was harder than she thought. It’s not the fact that she wasn’t allowed to tell her very own creations that she was their creator but more about the aspect that if she were to spill the beans she couldn’t guarantee that she could stop herself from rambling on about Killian and the supposed glitch. She had a tendency to ramble on about her interests which would be fine if there weren’t any goddamn drones around.
“Keito’s a friend of me and my siblings. His brother, Satoshi, also got picked along with my siblings and a few other students for the moon mission. Satoshi and my brother matteo became friends during their first year at the academy and eventually met Keito in the process. matteo introduced them to us and ever since then we always hanged out with each other. When we got the knew my siblings and Satoshi got picked for the mission we threw a congradulatory party in the woods behind my families house. Keito wanted to go riding on his motor bike and matteo decided to tag along with him and suggested they take a trail we usual go hiking on. An incident happened during their ride which left them both in the hospital but matteo took most of the damaged since he used his body to shield Keito the fall they experienced that night. This led to matteo being dropped from the mission and Keito hasn’t been able to forgive himself since,” Piers explained to Carmen as he took out a modified laptop from his backpack and started typing on it. Carmen could see strings of code and data cover the screen.
‘Damn. I knew I built this world for writing inspiration but I didn’t expect it to make this much drama material,’ thought Carmen, mildly surprised by the information.
“Wow. That sounds horrible. No wonder Keito sounds guilt ridden. He must feel fully responsible for matteos injury and loss of opportunity to go to the moon.”
“Yeah but it’s been almost a year now and he still hasn’t moved on from it. He seems to walk on egg shells around my brother despite the fact that matteo doesn’t blame him at all. My brother is just grateful he was able to protect him during the fall. He doesn’t even want to know what would have happen to Keito if he didn’t go with him that night. Yet the stubborn motherfucker doesn’t see that!,” Piers exclaimed frustrated before slamming his head on his laptop. Carmen just patted his shoulder in a comforting matter.
“Well at least he seems to have friends that care about him. That has to count for something right,” Carmen reassured him which caused Piers to take his head off his laptop and give a small smile in response before sitting up.
“I guess you’re right. You know, you give good sage advice. "
“Oh it’s nothing. Some would just say I’m very “all knowing” sometimes.”
‘At this point the Oscars should just give me the “Best Actor Of The Year” award since she was acing this undercover act,’ thought Carmen to herself proudly.
The moment was interrupted by a cough which caught their attentions immediately. Varian came back with a whole tray full of dinner plates and appetizers. He seemed to carry them with the posture of a server in a fancy restaurant. A handkerchief was even placed on one of his shoulders.
“Your food gentleman,” said Varian as he lower the tray for them to see before placing all the plates on the table. Piers looked downright confused at the sudden appearance of a server.
“Felicitte got to you, didn’t she?,” asked Carmen, amused.
“Hey if I’m going to be your personal server might as well play the part.”
Carmen just shook her head with a chuckle before turning to a confused Piers.
“Meet my older brother Varian. He’s not actually a server. He’s just being dramatic,” Carmen said which earned him a playful smack from his sibling with the handkerchief.
“You mean being a great actor! There’s a distinction.”
This caused Piers to chuckle a bit. Varian soon sat down to the chair beside Carmen and handed her an orange soda before placing a plate of chicken tenders and mac and cheese in front of themselves along with side of garlic bread and a can of strawberry soda. He had placed Felicittes order in front of the cats chair which woke her up. They also seemed to have gotten Piers a plate similar to their own along with a can of cherry soda. Piers looked at the plate in front of them in slight surprised before giving Varian a slight awkward smile.
“Thank you for the food I guess,” Piers thanked them which Varian responded with a shrug.
“I saw you guys talking all the way over from the food table so I decided to just get food for you too,” Varian explained before turning to Carmen with a smile and motioning his head to their guest.
“So who’s your new friend?,” he asked before sipping his soda through a curly straw he got at the food table.
“Varian I would like you to meet Piers. He’s planning to attend the academy as well. There were no more open seats in the field besides the the ones in our table so they asked if they could sit here and well here we are now,” Carmen said as he slightly gestured to the area around them.
“Wait a minute do you have a brother named matteo by any chance?,” Varian asked curiously which Piers responded with a quick nod.
“Uh yeah why do you ask?,” Piers asked slightly curious why they were suddenly asking about his brother.
“That’s great! I met him at the food table earlier. Cool guy the way pretty chill. Turns out he’s been looking everywhere for you. I’ll go tell him that you’re here,” Varian said before sitting up from their chair. Instead of walking over to Piers brother like they expected he decided the best thing to do was yell over the noise of the crowd.
“matteo! I found Piers! They’re right over here!,” Varian yelled before gesturing to their table. In the depths of the crowd a ginger haired teenage boy that looked around the same age as Varian, 20 years old, poked his head out from the sea of people to find were the yell came from. Once he finally spotted them he grinned like he had found the road to El Dorado and rushed towards them. He launched himself at his sibling to them a big hug. Piers seemed to have a bit of trouble breathing by the seer strength of the hug.
“matteo I can’t breath. Too…strong,” Piers told him which caused his brother to quickly let go. Piers took a deep breath after that.
“Sorry! I’m just happy to have found you. I was just talking to someone near the food table and the next thing I know you vanish into thin air!,” matteo explained as he waved his arms wildly in the air. Piers looked at him with a deadpanned expression.
“I told you I was going to find seats for us and you said okay. Remember?,” Piers reminded him which caused him to think deeply for a moment until he looked like a light bulb went off over his head. He scratched his neck in embarrassment.
“Oh yeah you did. I must have forgotten about that since I was so distracted talking to Mr.Ingram about the exam. He has high hopes for you but not as high as mine of course!” exclaimed matteo confidently. It seemed as if matteo was really confident in Piers ability to pass the exam and by what Carmen saw when they were typing away at their laptop she had no choice to agree.
Of course she was definitely biased since she created Piers by her own bare hands. Sue her for being extremely prideful the only reason she had this amount of confidence in the first place was because she finally did something good with her life when she created the sim.
At least she thinks so.
“Oh and I managed to find Hoku near the food stand as well! Turns out his family was hired to cater for the event so he was busy helping them plate the food.”
Piers appeared to light up something he had said.
“Wait, Hoku’s here?!,” Piers asked him with excited eyes.
matteo nodded.
“Who’s Hoku?,” Varian asked Piers.
“An old friend of mine,” Piers responded happily.
“He told me that he was going to find Laren on the dance floor after he was finished working,” matteo told Piers as he gestured to the area people were gathered behind him. Varian procedded to look confused again as Carmen just sat there drinking her soda with a calm smile since she knew every single person here by heart. Piers noticed Varian confusion.
“Another one of my friends. He likes to show off his dance skills during these kind of events,” Piers told Varian who just nodded in understanding.
“Wait, didn’t Inez go there?,” Varian asked Carmen who nodded in response.
“Yeah, she immediately went there ever since we got here. Haven’t heard from her in a while,” Carmen said before taking another sip of her soda. The group all turned towards the crowd that formed a circle on the dance floor. It seemed they were cheering on the people that were dancing in the middle.
“I wonder what’s going on,” said Varian as he dipped a dinosaur nugget into a puddle of ketchup on his plate.
“A dance off I bet,” matteo guessed with a shrug.
“Imagine if Laren is one of the ones in the middle,” Piers said earning them laughs from the entire table.
“At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if my sister was having a dance off with someone. My family have a tendency to get competitive. Even if we went against npcs,” muttered Varian as he sipped on his soda can. Carmen could hear him drinking soda in real life as well. Looks like he was stress eating his way through this.
“Uh npcs?,” inquired Piers in a confused tone.
At the mention of his slip up Varian chocked on a sip of soda and started couching his lungs out. Carmen slapped his back to help him breath properly again. She soon turned to the other two with a strained smile as she weakly chuckled.
“Sorry about that! Varian over here is still stuck in his gamer mindset since he plays competitive gaming these days,” explained Carmen as Varian rapidly nodded in agreement.
“Oh no it’s totally okay. I sometimes get lost in video games as well,” reassured matteo.
“Yeah same and I can totally say that Laren sounds like an exact copy of your sister. He always tries to one up a person whenever he gets the chance. Would be kind of cool to see him and your sister dance together,” said Piers.
“Totally! That would be so awesome,” said Varian as he tried to regain his composer and keep the conversation away from video games.
“Yeah Imagine that,” Carmen said before taking another sip of her soda with a knowing look. On her lap was the glass tab showing live video feed over the dance floor through the eyes of her crow, Reaper, who sat perched on top of a light post. Two figures could be seen in the middle with one of them looking similar to Inez.
